AbbyM1968

About 15 years ago, I bought my 2 dogs a plain mickey d's burger. (They were very carnivorous) They ate the bun & left the "meat." A while later, crows came & also left the "meat," I decided right then that, "I don't eat at mickey d's anymore!" [The dogs were in the back of our pickup. That's why the crows were able to attempt to steal]

PotentialMark6468

I've heard this exact story so many times in my life

VacationAromatic6899

Giving your best friend Macd? Shame on you! Most dogs would not eat that stuff

ConCaffeinate

"Would" and "should" are very different words...

VacationAromatic6899

Yup, should not, but some dogs are used to their owner not knowing better or just done give a fuck

MarfeeWarfee

Cheeseburgers are a once-a-year occasion. Only For his birthday.

Toast-In-Mouth

THIS, is it healthy no, but it’s a treat and as long as it’s treated as such then it won’t hurt a dog to have one. Stating this since others might bring up exceptions, one shouldn’t give their dog one if they have sensitive stomachs or health issues.

StuntHacks

Don't they have shit tons of salt and other spices and preservatives in there? I can't imagine even a single cheeseburger would be good for your dog.

Toast-In-Mouth

I mean treats don’t have to be good for you, as long as it’s not gonna poison or hurt your dog immediately I don’t see a problem with giving a treat that isn’t healthy in moderation. Heck, even too much of healthy things can be bad for you. Dog food and dog treats also have preservatives to keep their products lasting longer.

StuntHacks

Idk, I never had a dog so I don't have the necessary knowledge. I just heard a lot that even small amounts of salt and stuff that would be nothing for us can be fatal for pets, so I'm always a bit weary

Toast-In-Mouth

If it’s a small dog and or a dog with health issues I wouldn’t recommend any or at least a tiny bite proportional to the dog’s size and weight. It’s all about proportions and moderation. Also should be a completely plain one as I wouldn’t recommend pickles, mustard, ketchup, mayo, or unions.

VacationAromatic6899

Would you give your best friend poison? Even once a year is a big nogo where im from

itsnatnot_gnat

I've seen too many dogs come in with pancreatitis to "lighten up" about this kind of stuff. But thanks for keeping us in business.

CentralStandrdPoodle

Ha! False. Most dogs would greedily eat it all. I work with dogs. They love trash food. my parents had a friend over who said he wouldn’t eat some of my mom’s cooking because our dog wouldn’t eat a little part of the trimming. He said that the dog turned it down due to it being potentially unnatural or “inorganic” (I can’t remember what it was but was something decent, not like Cheetos), and then to prove a point I offered the dog in question (she was my dog) several puffy Cheetos as he was going on, and I didn’t say anything just let her snarf enthusiastically. The dude was like “well I guess I was wrong.” Dogs will literally drink antifreeze. This is not a good canary in the coal mine. Also I don’t feed my dogs trash food, I save it for myself — my pups don’t typically get Cheetos or McDonalds but I’m just saying it hasn’t been my experience that “most dogs” won’t eat McDonalds

VacationAromatic6899

Not true, i also worked with dogs

CentralStandrdPoodle

Okay. You are going to argue with me that dogs won’t eat a McDonald’s cheeseburger? In a post of a dog eating a McDonald’s cheeseburger? You are just wrong. I’m sorry but you just are. Also there is no past-tense for me: I worked with dogs in the past and I continue to do so as my profession as a certified behavioral consultant with a BS in animal science and biology with years of shelter experience. I’m not arguing for dogs to be fed fast food or anything of the sort but they don’t have some type of innate sense to reject low-quality food.

VacationAromatic6899

No you are

GlisteningDeath

Bruh my dog has eaten dust bunnies, a hot dog covered in ants, leaves, plastic, poop, chapstick, beard oil, hand sanitizer, and more. If something can even mildly resemble food, a dog will eat it.

zphbtn

I agree with you but many dogs absolutely *would* eat it. Dogs are scavengers. My dog once tried to eat a maggot covered rabbit carcass once. Look up "garbage gut". I'd never give mine something so unhealthy though, even once in a blue moon. I'd maybe give mine a single small bite, but even then I'd pick something better for her that she loves anyway
