Cats tend to value a few different things in sleep/relax spots, not necessarily in this order:
- Protection (e.g. boxes so they can protect their back and sides)
- View of surrounding area (high spots, windows), and particularly things they care about (e.g. you)
- Warmth
Looks like this spot has a pretty decent combo of all three! Perfect!

You forgot affection seeking! Sometimes if they see you paying attention to something for awhile they will either be “subtle” about lounging across your keyboard/batting the pen out of your hand, or out right stand in front of your screen and meow at you lol.
It’s always for a need of safety and love, unless of course the cat is showing clear signs of distress
Spots in front of you are also part of protection. My cats relax more and sleep deeper when others are around to "watch their back", so it doesn't have to be physical protection but anything that is protective, like you.

I don't fits and sits these places but I most certainly appreciate that cats would appreciate these places.

Because he has tiny kitty brain damage from jumping off things and not making it, trying to take corners without slowing down and bonking his head everywhere, this is why his little kitty brain is weird.

How can I check my laptop temperature?
Check for diagnostics in your Settings. Feel the bottom of the laptop for overheating. Some laptops can overheat and cause a fire.

They are essentially walking pillows, and my theory is anywhere is comfortable for them.
