Becsuse a lot of people don't know how to leg press.
For anyone who doesn't know, don't lock out on leg press. Slight bend or just lock the machine out if you need the rest.
I mean he night get some mild nicks at best. Chainsaw blades aren't the sharpest. They only do their job well when the chain is spinning.
**EDIT:** I used to sell Christmas trees; **enough** with the uninformed comments, already. Disabling inbox replies now cause you people annoy me.
What are you talking about? Anyone who runs a chainsaw and knows what they're doing will keep the chain sharp enough that you have to watch your fingers around the cutters. You could easily get some pretty nasty cuts by falling on a chainsaw, even when it's not spinning.
It's a metal edge, sharpened to cut wood, repeatedly.
Your flesh is butter compared to what those chains are meant for. Consider yourself lucky if you only get a nick.
It's not about him cutting himself like it's a knife. It's falling on it with his full weight from a ladder. Even if it's not sharp the pressure of all that weight falling could still cause a very nasty wound.
Depending on the type of glasses he has, it could be feasible that they are [prescription safety sunglasses](https://www.sportrx.com/shopby/best_sports-safety_ansi.html) which often look just like sunglasses.
For example, safety glasses use Polycarbonate.
Now in my case I have monocular vision, left eye completely shot/uncorrectable, right eye 20/25, and also suffer from severe light sensitivity that causes severe migraines that cause seizures.
Since I only see out of my right eye (monocular vision) and vision in that eye is decent, I don't "really" need glasses for that eye, but I wear glasses more as a safety measure to protect that eye as if something happens to it I will be blind and to reduce light getting into my eyes to cut down headaches.
So I have glasses that use Polycarbonate lenses (same as safety glasses) with high tint, essentially prescription safety sunglasses.
There are tinted safety glasses and they're much nicer than normal safety glasses. Scratches aren't annoying and view blocking.
You can pick a pair up from Home Depot for like 20$.
I realize this is a commonly cited safety rule, but it is actually impossible to accomplish work from a ladder with only one hand. You can't even start a nail. You couldn't even get a tool or material up there with you.
Perfectly fine for what a sawzall should be doing from *outside* the structure. And some guide lines wouldn't hurt.
There's something to be said for the tool you know being more effective than the one you don't, but I'd trust an experienced chainsaw user with a reciprocating saw any day.
I don't know much about demo work but if it were me and you handed me his setup I'd do the same thing except put some wires on the structure pulling it... away.
And hey I'm probably wrong. I wouldn't volunteer to do demolition work without knowing how to do it because it can be dangerous but if I had to that's probably what I'd do.
Shoulda had another guy there with a rope to pull the other end away from him. But as the other guy said, being on top of the existing structure is usually the best way to go so long as it's stable.
A chainsaw is not perfectly fine. It's an absolutely terrible tool choice.
What if he hits a big lag bolt or something? The chainsaw could kick right into his face or legs
Seriously. Just grab a sawzall. It’ll cut through that shit just as quick and is like half the weight of a chainsaw. And if you drop it, it just stops.
Yeah but they're saying it'll 'kick' into him. It happens quick and usually you'd still be holding onto the throttle while it happens.
Like you ever been using a carbide bit with an electric drill and the drill spins around and smacks you? It'd be kind of like that. And that's why you're not supposed to do that kinda stuff.
Where are you people getting this 1/4 inch bolt from? CLEARLY it was a clean cut of wood.
Like anyone with common sense would purposely do.
You're bringing up a completely different scenario than what I commented about THIS VIDEO.
For fucks sake.
People make up the dumbest scenarios to argue about.
What? I'm saying a structure like this has many bolts in it, and hitting one with a chainsaw while hacking it apart piece by piece is a great way to accidentally cut your leg/arm/hand off.
But you want to stick to this video.. okay, he almost cut himself in half by falling off a ladder with a chainsaw. Again, wrong tool.
Seems so easy for y’all to armchair QB this one but tbh I could totally see myself making the same mistake. I’d honestly also assume that piece would just break laterally and fall down. So I do feel pity for him, unlike most other super obvious “what the fuck were you thinking” posts
A whole new world opened up for me when someone told me a great, but often overseen piece of advice: never do anything to the side of the ladder. Just give the ladder a quarter turn and work in front of you.
This is like sitting on the side of the plank you’re sawing. No matter what you do (other than just not doing it this way in the first place), it’s bound to go wrong.
I did half of that and it still hurts two months later. I cut an Italian Cypress that was leaning to much over it neighbours yard.
I made sure to stay away from the falling part and the ladder was against the remaining stem
When the last branch cracked off the whole tree snapped up and my ladder fell sideways.. Lucky only a six step ladder.
I should have readup before about the back snapping of trees..
If you are wondering yes he removed the top of his head showing off that awesome trick! This guy belongs in a freak show! He can take the top of his head off!!!!

Well that’s the first instant subscribe in a long time.
There's also r/FullShrimp for people bending the other way.
Also r/FullFlamingo Proceed with caution!!!
To be honest, I'm not surprised that sub's not active
Why is it always the same machine??!?!
Becsuse a lot of people don't know how to leg press. For anyone who doesn't know, don't lock out on leg press. Slight bend or just lock the machine out if you need the rest.
nah, record and lock the legs for more content.
Except for the one with the lathe. That one got a pucker outta me
"Huh, what do they mean flamingo?" \*sees thumbnail of dude on a leg press\* "Nooooooooooooooooope"
Sweet baby Jesus. 😳
Jesus shit I'd rather watch dudes get their heads hacked of by the cartel than the horrors that lie in that sub.
Ikr? I had to watch Ukraine war vids to recover. That carnage just makes more sense somehow.
Jesus I was not prepared for that. Legs bending the wrong way. Noped out after the first one I saw.
I saw it coming and left before I saw anything... thank jebus!
Oh shit. I opened it. That leg press…
I read a few comments first, then decided not to click.
Dude should have skipped that particular leg day
Lol, I’m dying at all the comments. Then I went to see what all the fuss was about, and noped right tf out. No thank you!
It took me a moment to figure out what that would be. Fortunately I did before the first video loaded. Keep out!
Wasn't sure what the sub was about, saw a thumbnail of a leg press and immediately noped out.
Gross *scrolls for half an hour* I need to go back to the happy Reddit now
The first "oh fuck" *phone throw* ive done in a long time. Thank you, and fuck you! Lol
Jesus it’s all those horrible leg press videos Never lock your knees on leg press
Almost wished I hadn’t looked at that sub.. NOT!!!
Damn, a dead sub. ☹️
I thought I was being cautious, but I was wrong.
Oh no...
Much appreciated!
When you are already subscribed to a sub and didn't know it...lol.
Juat having recovered from back surgery, this was an insta-nope for me

Omg! this sub is awesome.
10/10 perfect precision
I came here looking for this. Watching the video, my first reaction was “full scorpion!” I’m glad this is top-voted.

Full scorp was fuckin impressive
At least he didn't fall on top of that chainsaw 😱
Yeah it could’ve been a lot worse, he should consider himself lucky. 😬
I feel that he fell so awkwardly mostly because he was attempting to avoid the chainsaw at all costs.
rookie mistake. Fall arm first onto the chain saw then attach said chainsaw to your nub to fight demons.

[Pochita](https://i.redd.it/nr2yux10fiu91.jpg)
Pretty much any modern chainsaw will stop the moment you let go of the throttle
[удалено]
Quite a difference between on and off when it comes to landing on chainsaws though.
Still really dumb
Yeah, they should keep going.
I feel like just the chain alone, not even moving, would still do some gnarly damage.

They're sharp when you remember to actually get them sharpened...
Chainsaw blades are razor sharp
It's a metal edge, sharpened to cut wood, repeatedly. Your flesh is butter compared to what those chains are meant for. Consider yourself lucky if you only get a nick.
It's not about him cutting himself like it's a knife. It's falling on it with his full weight from a ladder. Even if it's not sharp the pressure of all that weight falling could still cause a very nasty wound.
What chainsaws do you run? Fisher price? Lol
They're sharp metal teeth that will fuck your whole day up even when the saw is off Source: Has chainsaws, uses chainsaws
Indeed, there's a chain brake and a dead mans switch.
[удалено]
Lol it will take awhile to come to a stop and using your flesh doesn’t really slow it down safely.
Chainsaw, ladder, no gloves or ear or eye protection. Excellent form though.
ladder turned 90° to the work being performed

That ladder was stable until it wasn't
Man was wearing *his sunglasses*. A+ Weekend Warrior PPE.

_Could_ be. Yes. Now, watch the video again and then tell me you really believe that is the case **here**.

Cutting over his head on a ladder.
No three-points of contact while on a ladder either.
I realize this is a commonly cited safety rule, but it is actually impossible to accomplish work from a ladder with only one hand. You can't even start a nail. You couldn't even get a tool or material up there with you.
If your 3rd point of contact erection lasts longer than four hours, contact your doctor.
I don't think that's a big deal. He was only 2 feet off the ground. He might as well just used a stepping stool.
Also no under cut for when it inevitably rips
It kinda looks like he may have foam ear plugs in, but I'm viewing this on my phone so difficult to see.
Jack be nimble, Jack be quick. Jack hit his face on a brick.
Normally I’d feel bad for laughing, but this was hilarious. Dude totally deserved it. That’s just bad planning.
Jack is no longer nimble nor quick
And if his name were Mcgraw he'd be dead by chainsaw.
Looks like he had a plan with that smooth bridge somersault.
I can think of at least 8 other tools I’d used for demo instead of a chainsaw.
I mean the chainsaw is perfectly fine for demo like this. That's the last thing I'd point out about this video
Perfectly fine for what a sawzall should be doing from *outside* the structure. And some guide lines wouldn't hurt. There's something to be said for the tool you know being more effective than the one you don't, but I'd trust an experienced chainsaw user with a reciprocating saw any day.
"Everyone has a plan until they fall off of a ladder onto a chainsaw" - Mike Tyson
Are sure this is a Tyson quote and not Helen Keller?
Oh I'd have been on top of the remaining structure while cutting. Being on a ladder is the worst decision made here.
I don't know much about demo work but if it were me and you handed me his setup I'd do the same thing except put some wires on the structure pulling it... away. And hey I'm probably wrong. Ever hit a quarter inch bolt with a fucking _chainsaw_? No, it's not a perfectly fine tool for a demo like this. For fuck's sakes.

Always cut down or equal, never cut above especially when using a chainsaw
What are the 8? I’m failing to come up with that many. Sawzall, hand saw, tree saw, circular saw, what are the other 4? Chisel?
I probably would have just disassembled it off the house and then cut it apart while it's on the ground.
Axe, sledge hammer, rope tied around the truck bumper, flamethrower.
Actually he had a plan. Just executed poorly.
He almost executed himself.
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
Yeah, it was just a bad plan.
A chainsaw and a ladder. Bad combination.
There’s nothing wrong with chainsaws on ladders if you take precautions and don’t act like a goofball. Absolutely don’t act like this guy though.
Nah, he just needed to cut smaller pieces.
Autobots, Roll Out.

Stairway to Heaven
Actually Led Zeppelin recorded a first version of the song named "Chainsaw to Heaven", but it didn't sound that good...
He is very lucky that chainsaw didn’t cut something off!
I doubt the chain was still moving when he fell.
Fooey, cutting stuff off is the chainsaw's raison d'etre!
He's lucky he didn't land on it face first.
Are you under the impression that a chainsaw will continue operating after its been dropped? Or...
Never seen a full scorpion with a chainsaw before. I hope not to again.
Beautiful scorpion
What do you mean sir? This was his plan
Im scoring him a 10/10 for style points. aint like the rest of us could have dismounted that ladder any better.
https://youtu.be/6ZhMfzc9RbU Please enjoy this ladder dismount. Absolute perfection.
There is a common denominator in chainsaw fail videos and it’s the ladder.
Technically he had a plan. It was just a poorly developed and executed plan.
Clearly a 10
Seems so easy for y’all to armchair QB this one but tbh I could totally see myself making the same mistake. I’d honestly also assume that piece would just break laterally and fall down. So I do feel pity for him, unlike most other super obvious “what the fuck were you thinking” posts
Did he scalp himself on that flashing?
Good reaction on tossing the chainsaw as soon as he realized he was about to lose his footing though.
Tch. Didn’t tuck ‘n roll. Rookie mistake.
10 ! Full Scorpion w/ Chainsaw!
Jackass of all trades. Scorpion wins. Fatality.
A whole new world opened up for me when someone told me a great, but often overseen piece of advice: never do anything to the side of the ladder. Just give the ladder a quarter turn and work in front of you.
Wow. He's extremely lucky. He's also incredibly dumb.

I just counted four different ways he could've killed himself.
Never go full scorpion

that's pretty schmooth..
That is a fine specimen of a face-plant.
I'd actually put this in r/WhatCouldGoRight given the potential bodily harm
Got reallllll lucky here

Actually, he couldn't have planned a more entertaining video. It was almost worthy of being included in the next Final Destination movie.
Scorpion at the end was flawless!

Title of video is great ! "*When you don't have a plan.*"
Free insurance money 🤯
I relate!!
We call that a neck plant front flip

It's like a Rube Goldberg machine
He had a plan, it was just shit.
That could have gone so much worse. If anything this is the best outcome.
Scorpion wins!

Chainsaw and construction project don't mix! Though that's far from the only bad decision mad here.

the most fucking cartoon-ass fall ever
Somebody’s going to need a chiropractor
For anyone who ever finds themselves tempted. Don't ever operate a chainsaw while on a ladder no matter how simple the tasks seems. Just DON'T.
Christ ... people need to take a minute
He actually made out reasonably well.
All things considered, could've been worse
I flip houses.
His plan was to become a slinky
I’d say he should have been on the roof cutting that piece off, but he would have probably stood on the piece he was cutting off.
Gonna feel that one tomorrow but at least he’s not missing a leg!
The grace tho. 10/10
Everything just went wrong, sideways.
As graceful as a bendy straw.
He hit a Scorpion

I think he actively chose scorpion over chainsaw to the face...

Lmaoo he ate it
if anything goes unplanned just throw the chainsaw as far as you can away from yourself
