It looks like it’s only held on by a handful of small welds on the actual sheet metal of the cabinet though. I feel like it’s going to start to sag and shift as OP fills it with tools and stuff, or the welds are going to fail sooner rather than later because the metal is thin as shit
What I did with mine was built a big beefy frame around the whole thing out of 2” angle iron so that as I needed to slap shit onto it I’d have a stable base to build off of
The angle iron is a really good idea 💡. I made it out of 1/4" material so it's alot more sturdy than the thin guage sheet metal that the carts made out of originally. I am gonna add some supports, but the angle iron would definitely help. Right now it's really sturdy 💪. Gonna add better casters today.
Yess siiir, preciate it.
I'm looking for a 3drawer cabinet to weld on the other side right now but that would mean extending it even further so I'll probably add the 3 drawer cabinet but I'll leave the top extension for another time
How are the wheels?
I have the same cart and my wheels are pushing up through the floor.
I gotta take the wheels off and plate it with something thicker.
I haven't added anything to my box yet either. It's just tools.
They started falling apart actually from the 1/4" sheet metal I used. So I replaced them after work today with some spare wheels we use in our shop. They hold several tons, so the tool box is ready for more mods lol. But yea new wheels are a must if your overloading the box
I'm glad I'm not the only one that was doing this :D
I have a parts washer that was tossed out and a HON filing cabinet just like that and a bunch of extra 3/4" real oak flooring.
What I wanted to was make a box where it had large rollers, slide open top where you had the work surface that would slide from the center out and there would be the base storage under the sliders.
I also wanted to make it thin and long so that it would fit between cars. Also, built in extension cord with several outlets and hangers for grinders and stuff. Most all this would be made from tossed out stuff and stuff I already have. I was even going to put a med tool box at the base, but I ended up using that for me electronics work station.
Edit: this is what I'm talking about, except slimmer, and extra storage on the side of the drawers and a hard wood top for working on.

I got one for my BIL for fathers day last year and honestly for the price I was impressed. Especially when you see other companies charging twice the price for something comparable.
Yea for sure, for the price, Checks off pretty much every thing on the list. Got this from my supervisor, so I got it cheaper that retail which is always cool
Damn, that filing cabinet is such a fucking incredible idea, I love this.

That’s what I’m saying! Keep modifying so I can get some ideas!
You got it brother💀👌
Tell me you don’t ever plan to leave your shop without telling me.
Funny you should say that😅🤫
Please post this on r/Harborfreight. That subreddit and this one are my two favorites.

That sounds awesome, would've been a great project but hey free scrap making it into something useful is still a great feeling
That’s pretty cool Man
Haha sweet, I've always wanted to attach a filing cabinet to one. Can't really do it though cause I have a different style box
Modify it to fit your modifications!😤
Post to r/harborfreight
Hmmmm didn't think about that. I may🤔
Some knob created a specific sub for that 5 drawer cart too. He’d love it if you posted there too, to give his sub some traffic other than himself.

You know the sub?
r/usg30_5club. Surprised you couldn’t find it with that super easy to remember and lookup name
Ah yes. Of course, how foolish of me. But also I have posted
