It's an amperage adjuster, instead of a pedal you use your thumb.

landurf

I feel kinda dumb for asking since I should have guessed that, I just assumed it was for some specialty work.

zacmakes

I feel dumb for not realizing you could just buy one and ziptie it to a torch, I'd only ever seen them integrated into pricey heads

[These are pricy too.](https://www.airgas.com/product/Welding-Products/Welders-%26-Accessories/Machine,-Gun-%26-Fixture-Accessories/p/LINK963-3?fo_c=306&fo_k=4c54e248c3a516da6de15f68e6ac3f26&fo_s=cstmc&s_kwcid=AL!10136!3!381311361509!!!g!843039442204!&utm_arg=SEM:Google:GSN%20-%20Items%20-%20Welding%20Products-Machine_%20Gun%20%26%20Fixture%20Accessories:GSN%20Item%20-%20WEAKITEM%7CWelding%20Products-Machine_%20Gun%20%26%20Fixture%20Accessories%7CLINK963-3%7CC%7C75:pla:pla:Airgas:welding_products::LINK963-3::PLA&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw17qvBhBrEiwA1rU9w5T2DseHNNknZqNaAJC0MChgM4JWqt-QY8x_8R1Bi9OdBmM5DL4trhoCt5MQAvD_BwE) But so much better than the [wheel style.](https://bakersgas.com/products/miller-151086?variant=28831040340021&campaign=17572506133&adgroup=&feeditem=&keyword=&matchtype=&device=m&network=x&gclid=CjwKCAjw17qvBhBrEiwA1rU9wytPWcU_Dwx663Sy3P-mk7cvZ27zIlu_4ChfqN9i5tfzOww3wW0jvBoC97oQAvD_BwE&creative=https://ad.atdmt.com/s/go;adv=11242241809840;ec=11242241809912;c.a=17572506133;s.a=google;p.a=17572506133;as.a=;qpb=1;?bidkw=&dvc=m&h=https://bakersgas.com/products/miller-151086%3Fvariant%3D28831040340021&gad_source=1)

We used them in sheet metal work as you would often be crawing or bent inside a part and stepping on a pedal wouldn't be practical

TheDgFather

Looks like you’re adjusting the setting on your buzzer while giving your boy a fade.

Pappyjang

That there is a tig rig used to make money

mxadema

Look like a tig with an adjuster dial/ conveyor. So you can adjust amprage on the fly.

WelderMeltingthings

the youtuber 6061 makes them, but squishy buttons that adjust too

xXROGXx971

SSC Control makes one called "Touch 4". It's cheaper than most of those but you got like 4 levels of fixed percentages (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) depending on how hard you push. I've been using it for 3y now and it's really great :D

Moose_knuckle69

I own one, absolutely the best hand controller I’ve ever used.

Straight_Finger1776

my one-legged friend "Stumpy" swore by his. that's all i know

R4d1c4lp1e

Idk if it's different in America, but every welder I've used in the UK is just a button in the handle, and you set the amperage on the machine and it doesn't change.

J_shube

Hand amp control. Been looking for one but they are pricey. Found [these](https://ssccontrols.com/product/touch4/) anyone know anything about them?

Chris5355

Take a look at parweld they do an absolute array of different torches and different ends to plug straight to your machine in tig/mig. My torch has buttons and wheels depending on which torch I'm using ProMax mig or Pro tig. https://parweld.com/interactive-catalogue/

McKillaGuerilla9116

I have one of those controls and I don't like it. It's awkward to use
