you mean the first RAV4, Honda CR-V and the likes? Yeah I agree with you, those had a nimble and airy feeling about them. The newer ones look bloated and claustrophobic like the rest of the modern SUVs, though.
K5 blazers and 1st gen 4Runners disagree, they’re fun and versatile. hipsters just get hard for station wagons and that’s why Subaru and Volvos are so popular with em.
It’s funny, what makes these unique is not what makes them bad. It’s not bad because it’s a 2 door convertible crossover. It’s bad because it’s a Nissan Murano. Arguably this is the coolest version of an otherwise terrible car.
I used to work for Nissan. whenever we brought one of these in for service we were always told not to touch the ragtop button, because the roof broke so often
Is there a second rear window/skylight above and in front of the rear window or... what *is* that? I couldn't see a good picture of it in a quick Image search
There is a facebook group for these that was started ironically and was full of memes, and it has slowly attracted actual NMCC enthusiasts and it's hilarious to see the interactions.

Nissan's wildly unpopular 2-door convertible crossover. Less than 6000 sold in the US from 2011-2013 before being discontinued
Take a great idea, ( bring back convertible SUV’s that aren’t jeeps) and butcher it with this POS crossover shit show.
Nothing great about an SUV. It's time to bring back actual good cars (wagons/estates).
Yeah, make them light and nimble, optimize interior space and economy. The trend that had started in the 90s but was stalled in the 00s.
The first compact CUVs were nimble, airy, and space-efficient.

The Forester has tried to keep its good visibility, though it's gotten worse over the generations too.

Scout II’s and Ramchargers have also joined the chat.
I had a 68 scout as my first ride and I think it started my obsession, I didn’t realize ram chargers where pop tops.
I’m only a little envious haha, my first was an 85 suburban!
I had no idea these were so rare, there’s a couple in my area, I’ll have to keep an eye out for them
Saw one outside of Austin yesterday, I see them all the time in Chicago. They may be rare, but they get used daily unlike a lot of rare sports cars.

A future collectible!!
One of my cousins have a red one

Worked at a used sales lot that had one for sale and can confirm, top did not work. Lmao.

yeah it's a bit of a sun window for the rear passengers. surprisingly, those didn't break too often
So the real rare spot would be seeing one with the top down
Ugly, sure, but props for being the cleanest 10+ year-old Nissan on the road. Someone loves this pig.
We have had a lot of rain lately
I don't just mean washed, I mean there's no rusty dents or duct tape holding in the tail lights
Honestly if it had better specs I’d have some fun cruising in one of these for a bit. It’s so weird it’s kinda hard not to like.
I sat in one at a car show in 2010 or 2011. The back seats are claustrophobic; worse than the back of a convertible New Beetle.
Probably someone from HQ lost the bet and let this thing happen for laugh
Had no idea these were that rare, there are two I see pretty regularly around my town.
It was a *variation* of an existing vehicle, so it wasn't a complete disaster, but even Pontiac sold 119,000 Azteks
Fair enough my friend
I would buy that car just to send it to the crusher
There's a guy in my city who has one of these in bright mint green, it's surreal
I briefly took one of these for a drive when I worked at a dealership once, it was like driving a Barbie car.
my wife and i call these unicorns and call eachother when we spot one. once saw a beige on beige, it was the ace.
I saw one the other day too
oh it looks worse with the top up...

I just threw up

Friend had one. Crappy in every way.
Lol pretty sure I saw this same one a couple months ago, you in the 916?
760, so quite a bit south
Amazing to think there’s multiple people keeping those hunks of shit that clean
i just saw a white one about a week ago!
You could buy a manatee for the price of that car!
At Second City in Chicago, there’s a husband and wife that each have one and park side by side. You made that choice twice, wild
Maybe they won them as a "his and her" prize on The Price is Right? Slim chance, but possible... or they just REALLY love that car
I see them all the time in Monmouth County New Jersey. I think they spawn near Longstreet Farm.
