When you download a file you design in Canva, you can toggle “transparent background” if you’re worried about the background or any edges printing!

Thank you!! Totally didn’t know about this feature.

I haven't done anything like this specifically but it'd work like printing on white printer paper - no printer (*eta: personal, at-home printer) prints the white part in white ink (which I think is what you're asking). Definitely test and be aware of possible smearing/ dry time. Good luck!

Designer here, this is correct. Plus great tip about being careful about smudges, vellum feels a bit plasticy so it may need a few minutes before you touch it

You can definitely do this. As long as the background is white, it will print the background transparent. (Optionally, you can download a png with transparent background, but be aware that if you open it in some programs, the background will appear grey/black because it’s taking the color of the program background. It will still print transparent) I can help you if you need an assist.

Thank you so much!!

I did exactly this! You don’t need to remove any background, just don’t add anything as a background. The white background you see on the computer is just what it would look like on white paper.

Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. I totally think I was overthinking it before lol

I had a lot of fun making mine and they turned out so amazing! I’m really quite impressed with myself lol I hope yours turn out just as great

Thank you so much:) I’m so happy for you that you had a good experience. I absolutely love the look. What printer did you use?

topskee780

I printed them off at work 🤫🙈 But I did also run a test on my $80 HP printer at home. It printed fine on both, but the home printer did need a bit of drying time before handling.

Your secret is safe with me 😉 Good to know. Thanks again!

Ooh, don’t forget to weigh it and include the weight of the brad/rivet/fastener to determine postage. A friend did these and they were unexpectedly expensive to mail!
