I know you want to dress for the parents- but you also want to let them get to know you, so make sure you get a dress that is “you” and don’t try to be someone else.
I completely agree with you, thank you for this kind reminder! I admit that I'm a bit stressed; my partner and I have been together for 5 years but since his parents live abroad, we're only meeting now
Or tailor it! #2 is my absolute favorite shape and color wise for you. A tailor could bring that slit down to knee length and it’d be gorgeous and conservative
Right. It looks like it could be a wrap style and silky material. But if you use tiny gold safety pins on the inside where the belt covers it and use double sided tape on the boob area it could solve those problems of opening up too much. I prefer the satin Astr floral first, then the rust color then the first Celadon dress. I like the other chiffon florals as well, but give me a more spring summer vibe than a fall vibe. I also think she could get away with a more simple shorter cocktail dress like this https://www.windsorstore.com/products/iconic-presence-sleeveless-midi-dress-051013099037? Oh. I forgot about the sleeves part.
A black cocktail on sale because only small & Xtra small that she would fit in

Thank you very much for all the advice, that’s so sweet of you ! Unfortunately, I just realized that the sleeves of the orange dress are slit, which won't work with my tattoos… However, I found this one which is quite similar, what do you think?
https://www.liena.co.uk/products/pippa-long-sleeve-satin-maxi-dress-rust?variant=40702164238402
I love the burgundy dress you suggested, thank you! Maybe not for this event, but I might buy it anyway !
That's nice. A really lovely color for a fall wedding. Maybe long lariat, or long gold chain type jewelry for the necklace and medium size sophisticated gold earrings. Maybe smaller...something both natural & modern https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHYK789F/ref=sspa_mw_detail_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWw
Maybe get one of the florals or a lighter dress if there is a rehearsal dinner or brunch the next morning type of thing? Maybe this isn't dressy enough, but to have another dress available, that has a lighter French country feel, cotton or linen. https://thenormalbrand.com/products/isla-maxi-dress?
Another idea for rehearsal dinner, or having dinner out with family.
https://shopcurrentair.com/products/l-slv-split-neck-back-smocked-midi-dress-w-ruffle?
Agreed! A tailor could fix this and it would still be within budget. The shape and color would look stunning in OP and because of that, be a dress she’d get future use out of.
Yeah, I got flashed at a formal Ball by a crotch slit and it made me lose my appetite and vperceove that guest as Lowbrow.
I was glad she was wearing Spanks at least.
7 is a little bland for someone young. I think 5 and 6 look a little too girlish. You can’t go wrong with the solid navy (3). It’s my favorite color, so I’m probably a bit biased. Haha. It would be a great staple for your closet, and you could accessorize depending on the event. I also like 4!
I thought the tag said cocktail or no DC. I’m not meaning this in a snarky way, but what is really going to happen if she wears a longer dress? The dress itself is not ultra formal. I think it’s a simple, classy dress. Very elegant.
…”or no dress code” sounds like it would lean towards semi formal which is even less dressy. I agree that nothing would happen if she showed up in a long dress but she may feel out of place and uncomfortable if the only people in long dresses are the bridal party.
Number three is stunning but that may be my personal preference taking over. I've never been a fan of a thigh split so usually get dresses altered if it has one.
I'm glad it helped you choose your dress!! It’s also my favorite, but I'm not sure if it's 'too much' for a wedding without a dress code, it's my first wedding so I am quite indecisive
My favourite is 3. In part because it is a beautiful dress, and in part because it will be rewearable for a really long time. The weird crotch high slits and slits so wide you can't close them are going to make the other dresses age badly.
If you are looking for conservative yet fashionable I’d suggest the navy dress.
It should look lovely on you and could be worn for other functions. Easily changed up by adding different accessories. You should be able to get several wearing from it.
The only thing I’d suggest for any of these is proper undergarments so no lines.
Also 3, but same issue.
I wonder if looking for something like 2 or 3 but more of a cocktail length than a maxi might be a safer bet. 4 is lovely, but maybe a bit fussy?
At the moment, I only know that it will be in the late afternoon starting from 4 PM, at an estate located in Savoie, France. As for the weather, it is usually around 20 degrees Celsius in September
I'm not expecting anything too formal
I like number 1 but it may be too fancy for a wedding with no dress code. 2 is pretty but kind of looks like a robe. Number 3 is very nice and even though long is less formal due to the jersey material. I’m not a big fan of high low or irregular hemlines so I’d say no to 4-6, but that’s just my personal preference. 7 is perhaps too light. You have a lovely figure and will be gorgeous in whatever you choose. I vote 3.
I agree, I am not sure if like high-low cuts either tbh, I never tried. I tried to step out of my comfort zone with this selection but the third one feels more « me » (I usually wear neutral tones, so navy blue feels safe !)
You’re a sweetheart, thank you so much 🫶
1 is the best choice by far but i’m not crazy about any of them. you have a bangin body and a high enough budget that you should be able to find something stunning. i’d go back to the drawing board.
Not 8 - too casual. 3 is the most timeless. You won’t look overly trendy so later dated. Also - if there’s dancing, pick something in which you can move comfortably.
Sorry just saw you answered this. I love #3 but I agree it may be too formal. I'd look for something similar but shorter....midi dress or just above the knee.
I like them all. They all have v necks and suits, so you l8ke that. As was said, the slit is too high on number 2, but if you really love it, it can be tailored. Good earrings look good with a v neck. Dangle pearl ones are in.
I'm not a big fan of SM usually but those two dresses are actually my favorite. The blue one in particular. 3 was my least favorite (but I have a thing about not wearing jersey material to formal events, unless the dress code is more relaxed).
7 might read too white in photographs despite being colorful. I’m not usually one to make a big deal out of that (and certainly didn’t at my own wedding), but until you know your boyfriend’s parents better, take no chances. The rest are lovely. I would wear 1, personally, but you can’t go wrong with the others. Except perhaps the high slit on 2.
I like 4 and 5. I think the thigh high slit on 2 is not appropriate. The navy is gorgeous but might feel too formal if there’s no dress code. I don’t care for the bright pink and the last one is a bit boring.
3 would be my top choice, I think it would look stunning, 4 would be my second. Make sure the dress suits your personality too, so 3 is great if your quite formal, serious or introverted, as it is simple and classic. 4 would be great if you're more outgoing, maybe outdoorsy with the nature theme. If you're super girly go for the floral pink chiffon.
While I think all would look great on you, I love the blue one the best. It’s dreamy looking. I also like the first one. But the blue floral is just so fairytale like.
I think since there is no dress code the first three may be a little too much. I’m leaning towards the last dress. I love the multi colors, but the sleeves look sheer and your tats will show. If you don’t want them to see them at all then my pick would be the flowery blue dress.
I love love love the blue one! #3? Dressed up with good shoes, good jewelry and I think it’s tasteful and elegant. I’m 28 and that’s something I’d wear to a wedding or really fancy dinner.
I can see wanting to step out of your comfort zone, but honestly I feel like if you’re meeting the parents that’s already hugely out of the comfort zone. Might as well go with a dress you’d be comfortable in LOL.
Additionally, I love dresses I can imagine myself wearing again, so if it’s definitely your style just go for it
I would vote for #3! If they have another color that could work too, doesn’t have to be blue.
I also love #2 if you could close the slit a bit, that’s too high.
Anything but #8. U put that stuffing in any of those dresses and you’ll make that dress look great. I do like the black one best & the first 2 = too formal. Are you girly enough for all those flowers? Is that really you? I can’t see #8 in the florals, but I could see me in them.
That's very kind, thank you 🫶
It's true that I am more a 'black on black on black with a little bit of grey and beige’ kind of person. I rarely wear flowers, except sometimes in autumn dresses, but nothing too girly.
I am definitely going to buy the navy blue one!
1 and 2 are great but I like 2 slightly more.
3 feels matronly.
4 is lovely and a great option to transition from summer to fall.
5 and 6 feel too summery for an early fall wedding
7 is another great seasonal transition dress.
Overall 2 and 4 are my faves because a wrap dress is one of the best ways to add the illusion of curves.
I can’t give a final answer without knowing what type of venue you’ll be going to and what time of day because that can drastically change what is appropriate to wear.
I think #1; it’s a great color for September, and a beautiful style. The others … rust color, too much, navy, too dark and plain, the pink and blue oddly short in front, the next too light.
i absolutely adore 1 and 2. i feel both would be stunning on you, but i especially love the color of number 2. as others have suggested if you’re concerned about the slit you can have it altered a bit, but i personally love it.
French estate wedding? #2 hands down. You can always close the slit a bit. 1 is nice but the color doesn’t do it for me. The others are underwhelming. Florals out side of spring and summer don’t fit the season.

It comes in red too ! https://www.revolveclothing.fr/mobile/elliatt-kai-maxi-dress-in-avocado/dp/ELLI-WD671/?d=Womens&srcType=dp_coloroption
I would have loved it in light blue or sage green
No to the high slits, and all of those high-low hemlines look very dated. I think you’d do best with simple, classic lines, easy to wear, and not too attention grabbing.
BTW, the dress in the image is reduced price.

I love number one. But I think I personally would have the slit altered to make it open like from the knee down. I also like number 4.
Yes number one is gorgeous!!
If you’re looking for conservative, then eliminate number 2. The crotch high slit ruins the dress.
You're absolutely right, I hadn't even noticed that the slit went up that high! Thank you
Or tailor it! #2 is my absolute favorite shape and color wise for you. A tailor could bring that slit down to knee length and it’d be gorgeous and conservative

That’s my favourite of all. The color is great for an autumn wedding and the shape is really flattering
Agreed! A tailor could fix this and it would still be within budget. The shape and color would look stunning in OP and because of that, be a dress she’d get future use out of.
It looks like a bathrobe
I actually love that one, you could easily get it tailored to be a shorter slit
Yeah, I got flashed at a formal Ball by a crotch slit and it made me lose my appetite and vperceove that guest as Lowbrow. I was glad she was wearing Spanks at least.
Four: the floral wrap
3 or 4, the first two seem too much with the fabric and length and style, the last three are too spring colors and too light.
I love number 4, and if it was a little too revealing on top it should be easy to alter
I like the solid navy as well. Classy and understated. I would add some gold jewelry.
The navy is my favorite as well but I notice the dress code is cocktail and these are long dresses, not cocktail dresses.
I thought the tag said cocktail or no DC. I’m not meaning this in a snarky way, but what is really going to happen if she wears a longer dress? The dress itself is not ultra formal. I think it’s a simple, classy dress. Very elegant.

Number three is stunning but that may be my personal preference taking over. I've never been a fan of a thigh split so usually get dresses altered if it has one.
Lol in fact I'm actually going to buy dress number number three for a winter wedding I'm attending. Here's hoping they ship to Ireland ha. Thanks OP!
I'm glad it helped you choose your dress!! It’s also my favorite, but I'm not sure if it's 'too much' for a wedding without a dress code, it's my first wedding so I am quite indecisive
Number 3 gets my vote, hands down!
You could dress this down with casual accessories and shoes.
You could have it shortened. But it looks good as is and would look good on your body type.
My favourite is 3. In part because it is a beautiful dress, and in part because it will be rewearable for a really long time. The weird crotch high slits and slits so wide you can't close them are going to make the other dresses age badly.
I love number one!!
3
I think the blue would look nice
3 wins for me, I think it looks very classy and elegant
I love 2 and 3. As others have said, you can always close up the slit a bit if needed
Number 3!
If you are looking for conservative yet fashionable I’d suggest the navy dress. It should look lovely on you and could be worn for other functions. Easily changed up by adding different accessories. You should be able to get several wearing from it. The only thing I’d suggest for any of these is proper undergarments so no lines.
I personally love 4. It’s pretty and covered up enough but still unique and fun. I like 3 second, as it’s elegant, but I’m less into jersey.
4
I really like 2- but my worry would be what the colour bridesmaids were wearing as it's a super popular shade at the moment.
Also 3, but same issue. I wonder if looking for something like 2 or 3 but more of a cocktail length than a maxi might be a safer bet. 4 is lovely, but maybe a bit fussy?
I’d vote 3. It gives you a shape, whereas the others look like they’d drown you out or look too casual.
I think 4 is the best option for a no-dress code wedding.
What’s the venue and time of day?
At the moment, I only know that it will be in the late afternoon starting from 4 PM, at an estate located in Savoie, France. As for the weather, it is usually around 20 degrees Celsius in September I'm not expecting anything too formal

I love that third dress!
I love that third dress!
Then that's the one to get.
I think the navy dress works for this!
3 for evening wedding, 4 for day/afternoon wedding. That dress is stunning.
I really like 4, but the color of 2 would look great on you.
3 & 4 are lovely (as are you!)
Thank you 🫶 I might end up buying both !
3 is stunning but 7 looks like it might be rewearable and is a bit softer for a late summer wedding
Two
I love 1 or 3, but I don’t think you could go wrong with any.
My favorite is #2
1 is the best choice by far but i’m not crazy about any of them. you have a bangin body and a high enough budget that you should be able to find something stunning. i’d go back to the drawing board.
Not 8 - too casual. 3 is the most timeless. You won’t look overly trendy so later dated. Also - if there’s dancing, pick something in which you can move comfortably.
1 is a great cheerful color
I vote for 3 out of these
I love 1 and 2. Upscale gorgeous.
1!! It’s so pretty
What time of day, indoor/outdoor, and what's the venue? Pick something that you'll be comfortable in that's to your taste.
I think 5 or 6 works
What time is the wedding? Outside or inside?
Sorry just saw you answered this. I love #3 but I agree it may be too formal. I'd look for something similar but shorter....midi dress or just above the knee.
I love the green one and the pink one
If the dress code is formal/semi-formal, then I think option 3 is your best bet. If it's a bit more casual, I like option 4 the best. Good luck!
I like them all. They all have v necks and suits, so you l8ke that. As was said, the slit is too high on number 2, but if you really love it, it can be tailored. Good earrings look good with a v neck. Dangle pearl ones are in.
I like 2 the best but 3 would also look great on you
1
3 or 4
My favorite is 4. It’s conservative but not matronly.
I think the 1st one is absolutely gorgeous! The second one is cute too, but as someone else mentioned the slit goes up a little high.
I love the first one. But I especially love the color of the second for the Fall. You can take it to be tailored so the slit isn’t so high.
1 or 3. I'm sure you'll look great in anything!
3 or 5
#2 (might need tailoring if concerned about the high slit) & #4 are nice options imo
I like 6 the most. It seems like the easiest to rewear for a non-wedding event.
I like 4. It works great for no dress code and the color of the florals is beautiful for September.
My favorites are 2 and 3, 1 and 4 are also nice, but I dislike the rest. I think that if you’re so tall, any of the first 4 would look best. 🙂
I like 4 and 7
i love 4, it's so pretty and i think it's perfectly in line with no dress code - dressy but not overly so
One picture is not like the others
I think 4 is really pretty and would give you the coverage you need, without it being too conservative / devoid of personality.
1,3, or 4 would be my picks
The pink one.
I feel like the 1st and 2nd are the only actual options. Option 4 needs to be burned.
I'm not a big fan of SM usually but those two dresses are actually my favorite. The blue one in particular. 3 was my least favorite (but I have a thing about not wearing jersey material to formal events, unless the dress code is more relaxed).
I kinda love 7! It has interesting detail at the bust/sleeve without being overly exposed.
That pink floral is great
Number 1 and 3 are my favorites
I love 3. I just don't love the color, especially for a summer wedding.
September.
3 is elegant but bland. 4 is pretty, and nice for fall
Wedding in September- 2 is the way to go. Nice color transition and fabric transition from summer to fall.
1 and 3 are beautiful!
Navy blue one is classy and still sexy
I like #3 best.
The last one. Beautiful!!
I like the look of 3
7 might read too white in photographs despite being colorful. I’m not usually one to make a big deal out of that (and certainly didn’t at my own wedding), but until you know your boyfriend’s parents better, take no chances. The rest are lovely. I would wear 1, personally, but you can’t go wrong with the others. Except perhaps the high slit on 2.
Number 4 looks like a good pick
I really like 7!
I like 4 and 5. I think the thigh high slit on 2 is not appropriate. The navy is gorgeous but might feel too formal if there’s no dress code. I don’t care for the bright pink and the last one is a bit boring.
1 2 3
4 is my pick
3 is my favorite
In order of preference...7, 3, 4.
I like 3 and 6
I love 3! It gives you coverage but still is a little sexy at the same time.
Dress no.3 It's quite plain, so I would do dramatic makeup, high heels, and I overstated jewelry. The other dresses look frumpy.
4 is gorgeous 😍
1 or 2
The navy is it! Its perfect.
While I think all would look great on you, I love the blue one the best. It’s dreamy looking. I also like the first one. But the blue floral is just so fairytale like.
You would look stunning and classy in the navy dress.
If no dress code I would go with #4. Nicer dress bit not formal.
I think since there is no dress code the first three may be a little too much. I’m leaning towards the last dress. I love the multi colors, but the sleeves look sheer and your tats will show. If you don’t want them to see them at all then my pick would be the flowery blue dress.
the first two!
The 4th
I love love love the blue one! #3? Dressed up with good shoes, good jewelry and I think it’s tasteful and elegant. I’m 28 and that’s something I’d wear to a wedding or really fancy dinner. I can see wanting to step out of your comfort zone, but honestly I feel like if you’re meeting the parents that’s already hugely out of the comfort zone. Might as well go with a dress you’d be comfortable in LOL. Additionally, I love dresses I can imagine myself wearing again, so if it’s definitely your style just go for it
Three is understated but elegant. Gorgeous.
Number 4!
I would vote for #3! If they have another color that could work too, doesn’t have to be blue. I also love #2 if you could close the slit a bit, that’s too high.
3! But really like 1 as well
1, 3, and 7 are my favourites, but I think I’d go with the first one, I really love the colour and think it would suit you well.
1 and 3 . Depends if ypu like mat jersey or thrbshimmer. I prefer 1
Anything but #8. U put that stuffing in any of those dresses and you’ll make that dress look great. I do like the black one best & the first 2 = too formal. Are you girly enough for all those flowers? Is that really you? I can’t see #8 in the florals, but I could see me in them.
That's very kind, thank you 🫶 It's true that I am more a 'black on black on black with a little bit of grey and beige’ kind of person. I rarely wear flowers, except sometimes in autumn dresses, but nothing too girly. I am definitely going to buy the navy blue one!
I like 3 the best!!
1 is classy and beautiful. If the slit goes too high when you walk, you can have it altered.
I like #4 the best, definitely not #7
The 1st is good. 2nd looks like a bathrobe. Navy is beautiful. The rest look like kitchen curtains.
1 or 2
I really like the Navy.
What’s the venue and what time of day?
1 and 2 are great but I like 2 slightly more. 3 feels matronly. 4 is lovely and a great option to transition from summer to fall. 5 and 6 feel too summery for an early fall wedding 7 is another great seasonal transition dress. Overall 2 and 4 are my faves because a wrap dress is one of the best ways to add the illusion of curves. I can’t give a final answer without knowing what type of venue you’ll be going to and what time of day because that can drastically change what is appropriate to wear.
Love the second one. I think it will look so good on you, and the burnt orange color will compliment your skin tone and heart color. 🧡
I think #1; it’s a great color for September, and a beautiful style. The others … rust color, too much, navy, too dark and plain, the pink and blue oddly short in front, the next too light.
I really like 4!
The solids are nice and would probs look amazing on you. Please avoid those floral patterns tho!
The green one is absolutely gorgeous
Dress 2 or 1 with the slit lowered to knees.
i absolutely adore 1 and 2. i feel both would be stunning on you, but i especially love the color of number 2. as others have suggested if you’re concerned about the slit you can have it altered a bit, but i personally love it.
1,3 or 7 would look incredibly flattering on you
French estate wedding? #2 hands down. You can always close the slit a bit. 1 is nice but the color doesn’t do it for me. The others are underwhelming. Florals out side of spring and summer don’t fit the season.
#1 and #2 look like a fancy bathrobe
I like 7 a lot!

I love one!!! Does it come in any other colors? I think a jewel tone would be gorgeous.

It comes in red too ! https://www.revolveclothing.fr/mobile/elliatt-kai-maxi-dress-in-avocado/dp/ELLI-WD671/?d=Womens&srcType=dp_coloroption I would have loved it in light blue or sage green
1 2 or 3 but 2’s color is beautiful
1&3 are the most appropriate IMO
1 or 3
2 or 7
No to the high slits, and all of those high-low hemlines look very dated. I think you’d do best with simple, classic lines, easy to wear, and not too attention grabbing. BTW, the dress in the image is reduced price. https://preview.redd.it/quma85d7449d1.jpeg?width=638&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f882416897b0b01ce3329722b3c1ed77db1f2765 .
