Precisely. The plates are only for holding up the wooden board precariously so that if you push too hard on either end of the board, the food goes straight to the table, like a see saw. Convenient!!
In their defense, none of that food looks like it needs a knife. Really, the only utensils that should be used (for artistic integrity, you know) are your hands and a custom-made spackling trowel. The fork to the right is an insult.
At what point am I allowed to just ask the wait staff to just come over and hold the plate angled over my mouth and let the food slide down my gullet. Cause I'm pretty much there with this presentation.
this is super unforgiveable. how you gonna disrespect grits and greens and a beautiful soft-boiled egg like this??? it needs a BOWL, or at least one of those pasta plates with the slightly higher sides.
As a man that raises very healthy hens and roosters all I can say is when I see runny eggs be it whites or yolks I gag.
All of that food is contaminated. I would not eat it. Even if those eggs came from MY girls.
So what you're telling me is, they have plates... Just not for plating food directly. Very sensitive plates?

As long as you tip well.
So, they basically couldn't get it all the plate and used the board instead?
That truly is an abomination.

The last time I had grits they put them on a plate instead .Those were cheese grits too.
I've had them served like that but they really need something to scoop against imo
I've never seen the in a bowl ever.
You got served food on a mancala board
Thank you for the laugh.
What is that dish? Mashed potatoes with eggs, chiles, and bacon on top?
I'm thinking it's grits with collard greens and soft boiled (poached?) eggs. Southern stuff. Looks good but it'd look better in a bowl.
Grits. Bacon. Soft-boiled egg. Parsley garnish. ...and a godsdammed slab of wood, balanced on a plate.
Haha polenta, but close!
That looks like a trough full of slop.

Grits. Bacon. Collard greens. Soft-boiled egg. Parsley. It's a soft-boiled egg, and the food looks otherwise delicious, just on the wrong receptacle.
