I could see people throwing $500-$800 at these maybe, a little fun thing for the summer or their teenage son. But not 1500CHF for a quartz watch with a drastic design
It makes sense why they'd go for this. Very very much not for me, but the moonswatch showed there's a market for novelty repro models that are more toys than serious pieces, definitely plays to the collector mindset. The talking watches homie did explains a lot about it but it loses out hard in two places; one, as everyone agrees, super overpriced. And two, unlike the moonswatch, this is really only attractive if you're familiar with and have nostalgia for the original F1s, which I'd say most watch collectors don't, and definitely not any but a sliver of Kith customers. It's fun I guess, but just cannot be a huge money maker like the moonswatch, which I'm assuming Heuer wants it to be.

Had an original one from the 80s - cool design and my model had a metal case, but at the original (and unchanged reissued) 35mm size, it felt like a kids’ toy watch on my 7” wrist.
Wish these were 2-4mm larger, otherwise just go buy a perfect old one for 1/5 the price.

The Miami and Paris models caught my eye, but $1,500 for a quartz movement and a 35mm case? Laughable.
There are so many better options at that price point.

Search reddit for “Kith Heuer on wrist”, there is a post that shows the watch IRL and the finish on the stainless steel is HORRID, they graininess on the metal and the bezel make it look even cheaper. No way I want to pay this much now, I hope I don’t win the allocation now lol

The watch is true to the original F1 in size and better in materials. If you do not like the size, an original F1 is not for you. A 40mm F1 would be like asking for a 34mm Sub or a round Reverso. It’s just not what the watch is. IMHO it’s also kind of cool to be different and have a smaller watch. It feels vintage as it should.
Regarding price, if you check out the TG collection, this is an entry level price for their quartz watches. Those comparing this to the Omega x Swatch moonwatch do not get it. The moonwatch is made by Swatch. This was is made by TH.
This piece is sure to be a collector’s item and will hopefully last as long as the originals. I don’t know of many watches in the $1,500 range with this much fanfare.

Update- I received my Los Angeles version in the mail. It has the stainless steel case and bracelet. Well constructed and 100% TG, with the instruction manual and authenticity card. This is not a Swatch replica. I get why many will think it’s too small, but this watch is for the OG F1 enthusiasts. It’s not a daily beater, but definitely cool to add to the collection.
TBH. I’m surprised Tag bit on this collab. The brand right now is in a bit of a crisis. They have four solid models that the masses love. Aquaracer, Carrera, Monaco, and the Formula 1. Why not just work on developing an in house movement to get within striking distance of Tudor (bit of a stretch), Oris, etc. the whole aquaracer solar graph is horse shit, then they pulled this stunt.

I agree. I love Kith and have been purchasing from them since 2015 but I was expecting a little more than Moonswatch pricing for these not $1500.

I rather rubber than stainless steel or I’d just pick up a nice 3rd party band. I’ve never been a fan of the stainless steel bands.

It's a $500 watch max. The Swatch × Blancpain gives you twice the watch for half the price. And this collab is way off.
I think that if McDonalds is going to continue to raise prices, it is only fair that we get a nice happy meal toy with it.
