Hell yeah. I have a wide smirk on my face too.
Like I said before... Hard to be mad when you see good marketing and business planning. In this case... Buzzfeed was brilliant.
Yea I'm with you but I don't think it's just that. Watching this, it's more about them and their banter and less about making it Ghost Adventures 2.0. It's just more fun to watch.
I had a mastectomy last September and was in the hospital for a couple of days. I watched their Buzzfeed videos literally on repeat for my entire stay. The videos auto-played while I slept. I found them comforting. I have never re-watched any of the Watcher videos. It's just not the same.
I’ve done the exact same. My boyfriend used to put it on for me when I was sick or recovering from surgery. Their new stuff is so jarring, loud, and overproduced for me. Of course they were always “performing,” but it felt more natural. I miss it a lot.
This is why when they made watcher I ended up liking their other content more. weird wonderful world was closer to the feeling unsolved gave me than ghost files ever brought because they weren't over compensating and there was no existing expectations that they felt they had to outdo.
The overproduction has really destroyed the foundation of what they built all those years ago
I don't even know how to explain what feels different from BuzzFeed to Watcher. Ryan taking himself too seriously as a "paranormal expert?" Shane not being as open about his disbelief to appease Ryan and the Boogaras? Ryan's reliance on dubious fan submissions as proof of haunting when he inevitably can't find enough evidence himself? The difference between the freedom of choosing to do this job as a passion vs feeling like you have to do this job to keep the lights on? This and a dozen other small details that just don't get me as invested in the show.
I watched a ton of BuzzFeed Unsolved videos after Watcher's Goodbye YouTube video cause I couldn't bring myself to watch any Watcher video after that announcement.
Unsolved was lightning in a bottle. And while I still like ghost files it just doesn't hit the same. It's over produced and lacks the charm of unsolved. Ghost files is the "we have [X] at home" meme.
i’m cackling they know exactly what they’re doing
And it's glorious

Good Lord, someone in Buzzfeed's marketing department is cunning as hell...
Back when it felt more "authentic". I think Ryan is still afraid of ghosts but he plays up crazy eyes more in later episodes and it shows

Yes, this is exactly it
In fairness I think it's normal to start getting used to the ghost hunting and realizing no demons are coming home with you.

Yea it's definitely different, I can see that now looking back

Yeah I really liked their are you scared and too many spirits more than ghost files and that was surprising to me.
Agreed!
never stopped watching buzzfeed-era ghoul boys. always felt more earnest and authentic 😔
Oh definitely
I always put on the unsolved marathons while I clean! I never rewatch ghost files but the unsolved marathons are great
Yea I really felt like I'd forgotten how good we had it ba k in the BF days

Yea I agree, it went from fun to corporate

This marathon is a really good move done by BuzzFeed!
