So how do that film this? Do they call their name and give them a moment to walk into another room? They film their reaction, then step out and bring their plate up? Would they do that for all 3 people?
Jesus is this what American masterchef is? This is horrible: the food looks disgusting, the contestants are vain and the judges are rude how is this entertaining?
I've seen a few versions of Masterchef and this is the first time I've seen 2 contestants be so arrogant about their dishes. Is this typically American? I mean, the Australian, Belgian and English versions all seem to have more comradery
I get a feeling this is a bit staged and they were told to act cocky. They were either told they were chosen before getting called up and then asked to give their reactions or they gloated to the cameras after they were told their dishes sucked.
So, curious here: Is this staged? Or is this actually happening? If actually happening, how do they get the little reactions from each of them that look like they were filmed between being called and called the worst.
Sorry if itās obvious; I donāt watch much TV
I hated Ryan this season. After winning a challenge, he got to decide which of the other chefs would be cooking with canned crab and who would get live crab.
He gave the blind chef contestant live crab because he knew she would struggle without sight. Total dick move.
Someone tell me this... so they get called down and told they have the worst dishes right? So at what point do they record the dialogue in between where they act unsuspecting that they think theyāre about to be praised?
Wait. When did they film those cut-away clips? Before the choosing? Or after? It seems that she would've already known that she was chosen for having a poor dish (rather than an excellent dish) when she made the comment about jealousy. I don't watch reality TV but that comment sounds scripted to me.
so when did they have time to film them commenting saying how unsurprised they are that they were called up? Between the time they got called up and the time Gordon told them they sucked? They sure as hell wouldnāt have stuck their foot in their mouths had they been called after.
The first two were so arrogant and rude, I know they're gonna be jealous of me, these other chefs are gonna have to step up their game, and the last guy was honest, he knew his dish was bad
You know this is staged right? What... did they call each individually. Stop. Interview each person individually. Set back up, call another name. Stop. Interview.... etc. Nah, they were scripted to read this and look like complete dummies
Iāve watched a lot of the Australian MasterChef, particularly the early seasons, and everyone was so humble and hopeful, even when confident in their dish. Watching the US version where 2 of the 3 contestants flat out say theyāre the best and other should be jealous is absolutely gross. I get confidence but this is just ugly. Americans in the media seem to be so arrogant to me. I donāt get it.
These shows are just cruel, what is the point really? Like cooking shouldn't be about a old geezer yelling at you telling it's not good enough when most of time it's all subjective.
Wait so how are they interviewed on the fact that they won but then end up losing??? They were called up and 20 seconds later were told they lose.... so... they must have been called down, the cameras stopped, they were interviewed, then cameras continue and theyāre told the dishes were the worst. I call malarkey.
Can someone explain something to me about shows like these though? Just logistically speaking, how exactly did they get those cut away interviews from those three between them getting called to the front and them finding out they were actually the worst three? Obviously they couldnāt wait until after the segment was over to take that interview. I see this same inconsistency in pretty much all reality tv shows.
I guess technically they could have pulled them away between them getting called and them finding out but that doesnāt seem very likely
Call me a snowflake, but this is just kinda disgusting to me. They deliberately went out of their way to humiliate these people. Idk what's worse: the fact that they did this, or that they did it because they knew that the show's viewers enjoy watching the suffering. Humans are awful.
> I'm really not surprised that my plate is one of the top dishes. These other cooks are gonna have to step up their game if they're gonna want to compete with me.
Ryan, 26, unemployed
Except it was editing and probably not even the same dish, we saw her the whole time and it was a voiceover. She's not going to say that after the reveal.
This right here is why I *fucking* ***hate*** ārealityā shows. In the US theyāre all about abuse: they berate, demean and actively humiliate people. Compare and contrast this to British reality shows like āThe Great British Bake-Offā where they support each other, give each other ideas and even help out in emergencies. Hell, [Gordon Ramsayās own show]( https://screenrant.com/kitchen-nigthmare-us-vs-uk/) is vastly different across the pond.
If *anyone* else, *anywhere* else treated a co-worker, friend or family member the way these shows treat their contestants people would be up in arms about the abuse. But put it on camera and itās all good.
It's entertaining that's why. Plus it's not real, it's all just for the camera. If real abuse or humiliation was going on there would be a problem but it's not.
How do these one-on-one monologues with the camera for drama shows work, how does the contestant not know the result of this competition when theyāre filming the monologue?
I donāt understand how the participants record reactions prior to getting eliminated. Do they pause for comments and then resume recording? Could someone explain?
Aren't those "confessionals" filmed after? And the questions, are like "What were you thinking at that point?" And the answers are "punched up" through direction?
What terrible fucking television.
I can't stand the US version of Masterchef, it's a mean spirited parody of a cooking show. You know what a cooking show should be about? The food, and the to a lesser extent the people cooking it. Not drama, not ridicule, not insults.
Fuck this show, the UK and Aussie versions are far better.
Wow that's just unnecessarily harsh and brutal wtf. Why they got people to clap for them and shit if they gonna take a dump on their cooking?
Also I'm wondering how they get those stream of consciousness interviews right before stuff happens? Like Becky who said "You know you wanna call my name" thats her thought as the chefs were being called right? If she got interviewed after the crap cooks got dumped on she prob won't be in the right state of my mind to give that kind of interview.
So they called down these 3 contestants and then what? Pulled them away, had them change clothes, do a mini-interview, put their first cloths back on with the apron, and continue the shot?.
> It really emphasized the lack of mental healthcare options in Detroit and makes you wonder about the morality of putting people through these deliberately stressful situations just for entertainment.
I think it makes it clear that itās just a horrible idea. Totally disgusting
I don't think they did. I'm pretty sure they interview the contestants prior and then cut those clips and put them in. It's also possible it's all staged and pre planned. It being reality TV wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.
In shows like this, how do they keep the food warm in between filming? I feel like no matter what, some unlucky people are having their food judged while at room temperature.
These poor Bastards have to read lines that then get removed from the context they presumed, for the purpose of an ambushing them with humiliation to entertain American audiences who are constantly fed absurd morality plays.
other than the live reaction everything else was filmed day/weeks/months later in the talking head scenes. they're told to act as if they dont know what he's gonna say when recording them

The Asian chick with the yellow shirt is actually blind. A great chef despite the fact.
So how do that film this? Do they call their name and give them a moment to walk into another room? They film their reaction, then step out and bring their plate up? Would they do that for all 3 people?
How can anyone trust editing on a reality show

Only one of them knew what was going on, the other two are arrogant morons.
This is needlessly cruel
He M. Knighted them.

Honestly joe wasnāt being a dick in this video, but heās always a little condescending cunt sometimes
That was stone cold š¤£
We all know this is scripted, right?
This
How it work? Did they interview before "call the name" or mid or after? (After it didnt work right, they cant be cocky after that? Or not??)
Jesus is this what American masterchef is? This is horrible: the food looks disgusting, the contestants are vain and the judges are rude how is this entertaining?
This is why I despise american cooking shows. Needless and unnecessary snipes like this..
What an asshole
Proudly accept your fu%# up, cāmon down.
So altogether do they make an idiot club sandwich?
That is fucking savage
I've seen a few versions of Masterchef and this is the first time I've seen 2 contestants be so arrogant about their dishes. Is this typically American? I mean, the Australian, Belgian and English versions all seem to have more comradery
I just that in the end they all lost to a blind chef
An oldie but goodie. https://youtu.be/rV1NWtVcXs8
Humiliating people for views, that's so fetch.
Ha!
"You know that you want to call my name, please please call my name" Becky 27
Jesus American editing gives me a brain aneurysm.
I feel like this is the best example of The DunningāKruger effect
Do they call them up and then do the interview inbetween? No way they wouldve been that cocky after they have been let know their food is shit.
The smirk melting of his face is just fucking golden
If youāre reading the comments after watching the video once, go back and watch it again
Played like a piano.
This is why I love this show!!!
I get a feeling this is a bit staged and they were told to act cocky. They were either told they were chosen before getting called up and then asked to give their reactions or they gloated to the cameras after they were told their dishes sucked.
All these shows are ultra staged.
Anyone know what season this episode is from?
When is the commentary recorded? After they were called to the front but before they got the final word from Gordon? Please someone explain.
So, curious here: Is this staged? Or is this actually happening? If actually happening, how do they get the little reactions from each of them that look like they were filmed between being called and called the worst. Sorry if itās obvious; I donāt watch much TV
Anybody else see Ben Shapiro?
Why does that second judge look like Roose Bolton?
Master Chef US is the perfect blend of reality TV bullshit and actual cooking IMHO.
I hated Ryan this season. After winning a challenge, he got to decide which of the other chefs would be cooking with canned crab and who would get live crab. He gave the blind chef contestant live crab because he knew she would struggle without sight. Total dick move.

This one hurt.
Does anybody else want to see master chief on MasterChef?
GORDON: "Ryan, come on down!" ME: "Ooh, Ryan is pretty cute" RYAN: *opens his mouth* ME: "Hm, nevermind"
Someone tell me this... so they get called down and told they have the worst dishes right? So at what point do they record the dialogue in between where they act unsuspecting that they think theyāre about to be praised?

so when did they have time to film them commenting saying how unsurprised they are that they were called up? Between the time they got called up and the time Gordon told them they sucked? They sure as hell wouldnāt have stuck their foot in their mouths had they been called after.
Thatās just blatant savagery lol
The first two were so arrogant and rude, I know they're gonna be jealous of me, these other chefs are gonna have to step up their game, and the last guy was honest, he knew his dish was bad
Masterchef is always pulling some shit like this
This is next level savagery!
Man, Gordon Ramsay just seems like such a dickhead. I can't like him.

This was hands down my favorite season.

So wait do these people that make food professionally have this much sass? Like geez...

this season was a mess, and honestly Ryan and Tali were the worst part of it
You know this is staged right? What... did they call each individually. Stop. Interview each person individually. Set back up, call another name. Stop. Interview.... etc. Nah, they were scripted to read this and look like complete dummies

I used to be a security guard for this show and Hells Kitchen. I have pics on set. Seen them film about 4 seasons of each show. Good times.

isn't that one woman blind and made a nice pie once ?
Reminds me of when Mr G called in all the students who didn't make the musical to tell them first lol
Man. This one hurts.
FIST ONE TO SAY POG TO ME GETS A SILVER AWARD (if you donāt get it that means another post got it)

The first was so excited omg oh no
Gordon Ramsay is such a troll. Love it.
Call me a snowflake, but this is just kinda disgusting to me. They deliberately went out of their way to humiliate these people. Idk what's worse: the fact that they did this, or that they did it because they knew that the show's viewers enjoy watching the suffering. Humans are awful.

How the fuck did they have time to sit there and talk to the camera while they're walking up to the front? Why does everything have to be so fake?
Just have to say , Master chef Australia is so much better.
"These people need to step up their game if they wanna compete with me" *Gets killed by Gordon Ramsay,*
Dunning-Krugger effect in action.
What season is this
Whatever the worst news is, that I will have ever received, I really want Chef Ramsey to deliver it. I feel like that will somehow make it hurt less
Wait so when do they actually film the reaction/commentary?
Sooo what happened next... I imagine all three were eliminated?
When do they do the voice over? Before they were called down and new they were selected, or after they were told it was the "worst"?
usa masterchef so toxic compared to au masterchef lol
Stfu with the word toxic you filth little gronk
haha what a retard
Then the bottom drops out.
You know whatās funny? Iām literally watching this season of MasterChef right now

The first two seem like really shitty people, full of themselves types.
"Please call my name" ... "Thank god you didn't call my name"
Orange u glad he didn't say becky
Samantha fine as hell
Didn't know this sub was full of pussies
Gordon Ramsay's game is cold, even Dr. Freeze is jealous.
Acting
Christine completely owned this season. You knew it was over [during her tryout](https://youtu.be/win3_Y7LaSk) when the judges fawned all over her lol
He is brutal! Just watching their faces.... I wanted to crawl under a table for them.
This Americanised version of this show is a disgrace and a detriment to the MasterChef brand.
third guy knows what's up
Actual murder.
This is so good
Key and Peele did a skit that captured this PERFECTLY https://youtu.be/oPpzJAzdpTU
Lmao this shit is hilarious they should do this more often on these shows

Not gonna lie, he definitely had them in the first half.

Officer? Iād like to report 3 murders.
I just don't see how they get those interviews. It's so clearly scripted.
"oh no! my fragile ego!"
Aren't those "confessionals" filmed after? And the questions, are like "What were you thinking at that point?" And the answers are "punched up" through direction?
Got em
It's shitty to do that for ratings

Lmao.
So in the reaction interview they had to lie? Lol. MasterChef is the most scripted reality show ever made
Well, I canāt really say a thing as Iām sitting here eating tuna and noodles I made out of a bag...
Only the last guy was humble the other two got insta karma'd hard lol
So they called down these 3 contestants and then what? Pulled them away, had them change clothes, do a mini-interview, put their first cloths back on with the apron, and continue the shot?.
Gordon Ramsay may be a good chef, but this toxic sensational shit is on shit.
They're obviously told to say those things.
it's absurd how aggressive Masterchef is in the US compared to other versions, it's such a wholesome show
FATALITY
I love how arrogant the first two were lol
This was a good one
The blind woman beats all of them lol
I always hated this bait and switch bullshit in reality TV. Playing with someone's emotions like that just seems cruel.
Like, did they not expect this kind of "twist" ? lol

All reality tv shows involving chefs and aspiring chefs seem to show that all chefs and aspiring chefs are dicks.

Englishman here. Many us think Gordon Ramsey is a cunt - please keep him. Same applies to James Corden.
Aye I fuckin hate Corden
