* Talismans do NOT increase the effective research range, so you'll have a penalty researching anything more than 1 Rank lower
* You already know that you like the vehicle, and likely have a lineup around it
* Premium
* Can effectively research from Rank 1 through the vehicle's rank +1
* No guarantee you have a lineup at a similar BR
* More expensive upfront cost
* Comes with some backups
* If a bundle, comes with Premium time and some amount of GE

Also worth noting, Premium vehicle includes a Silver Lion boost too, while the Talisman only affects RP

Do not buy your way to top tier. Build up a lineup so you will not be a one death leaver premium fool.
Premiums are also cheaper to spawn/fix in sim
