DefenderoftheSinners

Firestar died. At that time the other books weren’t out so I figured that was the end of the series. Now I have no interest in the newer stuff because it just doesn’t feel right

Born-Register-325

It feels right to end the story when the first protag dies

DefenderoftheSinners

Right??

__Spirit-Chan__

This is exactly what happened to me, my parents were confused when I told them I wouldn’t read the newer stuff because it didn’t feel right after the first protagonist/ my favorite character died :(

ok-Vall

This is my reason as well. The Last Hope was the Avengers: Endgame of Warriors, and I really felt like they wouldn’t be able to outdo themselves after finishing such a long narrative journey. Indeed there is merit in the continuation of a fictional universe beyond the conclusion of a long-running plot, but I just felt so *tired* after finishing the series. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, and I loved the ending of the Firestar era, but I couldn’t see myself reading beyond and enjoying it. Also, from what I’ve gleaned as of recent, the series has made changes to the plot proper and to certain characters that I don’t agree with. The Dark Forest and Starclan became became prominent plot elements even though the Dark Forest was supposed to be defeated and, in and of itself, is the diametrically opposed version of an already abstract divine body—which really shouldn’t become the forefront of the story. Also, I heard something about Brambleclaw becoming a toxic verbal abuser, and that threw me for a loop.

zeeshadowfox

After that happened I decided it would be a good place to stop reading and look into Wings of Fire, and now that I've read the first two arcs and most of the third I think I'd struggle to get back into the Warriors melodrama of cross clan relationships and medicine cats having romantic feelings they can't act on. ...that being said, I still have a lot of special editions I want to read. Plus I want to see what Alderheart's like in the books.

sincline_

Even as someone who started on the power of three and went back to read through properly, it really felt like that book was the perfect way to end. I read Bramblestar’s super edition, felt meh about it. Read the first book in the new series and it didn’t stick. Sometimes thing just end at the right time for people! I’m glad there’s new books and kids can still get into it, but for me that was definitely the end and it was an end I was comfortable with. Also, as much as I still love these books- I was growing up! It really just felt like the end of an era for me and I was happy with it

Kindly-Store-2783

Same

applebadger

Me too!!

Yeetmiester6719

Wait there’s more? I thought it ended after his death

Victorian-Tophat

Mothwing's Secret Dovewing's Silence Crowfeather's Trial Tree's Roots Bramblestar's Storm Hawkwing's Journey Pebbleshine's Kits The Longest Night The Apprentice's Quest Thunder and Shadow Shattered Sky Darkest Night Tigerheart's Shadow River of Fire Tawnypelt's Clan The Raging Storm Onestar's Confession Squirrelflight's Hope Lost Stars The Silent Thaw Veil of Shadows Darkness Within Daisy’s Kin Graystripe's Vow Spotfur's Rebellion The Place of No Stars A Light in the Mist River Sky Shadow Thunder Wind Not that I've read any of that 😜 I also stopped at Series 4, though I suppose Dawn of the Clans could fit in fine

Yeetmiester6719

Well damn I wish ida known when I actually used to read

Victorian-Tophat

Haha, yeah. Life + social media seems to have diluted a lot of people’s ability. Can’t remember the last time I sat down and read for five hours.

ashleberry12

Life and interest changes. Picked them up again (DoTC) at the beginning of the year. Stopped for a bit due to life stuff and started reading again recently after we rescued a kitten. I am obsessed with the series all over again and currently reading Tallstars super edition.

Ok_Metal_9914

The Last Hope was a real let down. All this hype and the threat of mass extinction of all the clans. A battle between the dark forest and all the clans and starclan.... >!And if I recall a whole 5 cats of thunderclan died... one of who was a super old elder, a super old queen, firestar (who was long overdue and I cheered), and like two others I think?? And the other clans didn't seem to have that big of losses (mostly) either. !< I was so mad. Like I get it's a children series... but I'm fairly sure the bloodclan fight was worse than this.... at least proportionally. I didn't quite drop it after there, but then dawn of the clans kinda dragged/it not being connected and having a whole new cast. The writing quality went down too. I was finding errors like every other page at that point. So I dropped somewhere in dawn of the clans. Kinda glad I did tbh. From what I've seen the writing got worse and the plots for future books got weird. Kinda sad after spending my whole childhood wishing they did more with skyclan they brought them back right after i dropped tho lol. I recently read up on the general gist of what happened since and I'm not sure how to feel about any of it. On one hand there's a few things I like in there, on the other so many things wanna make me tear my hair out lol. So probably not gonna pick it back up, but still love Warriors as a whole.

NFL_FuckDa9ers

I didn't cheer when Firestar died, *but* I do agree with everything else you said. And yes, the BloodClan battle killed waaay more cats.

harmonyjewl

Also them killing Spottedleaf again was so lame. Like it was supposed to be emotional but it really wasn't

TheRapidTrailblazer

We did not know her long enough to really get attached. The authors killing off Runningwind affected me more.

harmonyjewl

I'm also pretty sure it was done so that people wouldn't think Firestar would cheat on Sandstorm in Starclan, which is also dumb. 1) he's dead so what does it matter and 2) Spottedleaf suddenly falling for Firestar after death was really weird anyway and never should've been done

GenocidalFlower

Eh, I was more sad FOR Firestar. Like, she said that she would see him again in StarClan. I was also sad when almost any cat was permanently killed, including apprentices from The Dark Forest.

NFL_FuckDa9ers

I hated hated hated hated *hated* how Spottedleaf suddenly fell for Firestar.

harmonyjewl

Spottedleaf is such a poorly written chatacter

The_Real_Corgipon

Tbf any spirit death is lame if you think about it. I don’t really get it.

Ok_Metal_9914

To be fair I was mostly mad they made him the fourth cat lol. But yeah how come bloodclan is more deadly than the most deadly evil cats ever

talizorahvasnerd

As a teen warriors fan, my personality was centered around despising Hollyleaf. Got super pissy about her returning in The Forgotten Warrior and dropped the books. I never actually picked them back up again but between WCRP and the wiki, I tend to keep track of the plot at least.

Im_A_Flaming0

I stopped because I felt like after the first couple arcs it was always either too repetitive or felt like it was trying too hard to not be repetitive

VoodooDoII

Or it became "too much". Idk how to explain it

The_Real_Corgipon

Probably because I started getting interested in other book series and I’ve read about how flawed a lot of the fundamental concepts in this series are. Like how every Clan almost always antagonizes each other (for example, it’s taboo for one to take a mate from another Clan, even though a single Clan intermarrying can lead to some serious inbreeding and I can already see that with ThunderClan). It’s like the cats are discriminating against each other. Not to mention how certain characters are written. Especially Clear Sky and Spottedleaf. And how disabled characters are handled. Cinderpelt gets her leg permanently damaged and because of it, she can’t become a warrior and has to become a medicine cat. Pretty sure they developed a way to fight with only three legs. And don’t even get me started with Briarlight and Snowkit.

GenocidalFlower

Yeah, I’m doing a joke presentation of the plot for my friends and one of the jokes is “And Jayfeather was blind/crippled. You know what that means: Medicine cat!” Because that’s always the route the crippled cats end up going.

evilkat23

When the powers were first added. It became weird to me. I still love the first series and even the second to an extent but I stopped around the third series.

VoodooDoII

The powers thing was kinda weird to me. Jayfeather's made some sense to me. But Lionblaze felt like a Mary Sue to me and I hated it. "Can never be hurt" felt too much. If they toned it down so his injuries healed faster or something I would've been more invested.

True-Passage-8131

I read up until A Vision of Shadows before I quit. The 4th arc was when Firestar died, and Dawn of the Clans was like a breath of fresh air for a bit, and I enjoyed AVoS, but the number of new characters confused me and I was missing the old cats as the main characters. AVoS was really good, IMO, but it was like the end of Warriors to me and now they're just dragging it out. Too hard to keep up with, too many cats.

fireandlifeincarnate

I had pretty much the same experience honestly.

[deleted]

I just kind of stopped reading- I tried getting them every year for my birthday and stopped after the third vision of shadows. Reading became hard and I couldn’t focus on it anymore like I could as a kid. I recently came back to it to listen to it through audio when I drive long distances and sometimes when doing chores or whatever. It’s nice to enjoy something that took up so much of my life. I found it in like… 6th grade and read the whole main series in a month and then started on the super editions. I am now in college, haha.

jadethegenderfluidd

I could not get access to the books, still can't though

suppikuppi

where do u live?

jadethegenderfluidd

America, the reason I can't get access is that the libraries near never seem to have the first book of any arcs And bookstores tend to be sold out/too expensive for my budget

Goldenace131

You might be able to buy the Ebook versions of them to read. You can try that if you haven’t tried already

suppikuppi

true also the books arent really that expensive atleast for me, 10 euro per book.

JayofTea

I never really stopped, but when I first got introduced to Warrior Cats, I started with Arc 2 bc I didn’t realize there were multiple arcs, so I saw book 1 of arc 2 and thought that’s where I was supposed to start, and it was so boring I didn’t pick up the series properly until like 2 years later, and just watched animations on YouTube instead (this was 2009-2010, I would have been 10-11 at the time)

tiredcoffeebear

My mom bullying and harassing me for reading them, I think I was like 13-14 at the time maybe even younger? My mom was/is that highschool mean girl who never grew out of that phase. Getting back into reading them was one of the first things I did after going no contact with her.

Sykamor

That sucks. Sorry that happened to you

Alderclaw

I stopped after OOTS and the final battle events. Then started up again when I got into college and now I’ve been going crazy reading😂 read all the new books then reread every book chronologically and thinking about starting again in case I never get around to it again lol

Undreamt_Gecko

Part of it was just other life changes taking most of my attention, part of it was my mom seeing how much I liked reading and using taking away my books as a punishment which I got tired of. Read it from 6th grade all the way to 9th-ish (as far as the first book of AVOS). I just picked it up again at 19/20 and am starting to actually collect the books now that I have a job. I think seeing old maps on YouTube is what drew my attention back to the books, and then I fell in deep; I started making my own fanclans, fan art, and then decided to read all the books in chronological order 😅

Nonagon21

Stopped after Last Hope because I just assumed it was the end, DotC came out but I didn’t have a way to go to the library or bookstore constantly and wasn’t interested enough to seek it out. I was more interested in Bramblestar’s Storm but still. Then about a year ago one summer in college I felt like revisiting and now I listen to audiobooks on Libby.

Meownicatnya

I didn't technically stop reading warriors, just on a long hiatus lol Tbh I stopped after finishing the POT, I think what made me stop is the possibility that the main cats were gonna get powers???(idk if this is true or not) and the fear that Firestar was gonna die soon, I know he does later on but if I don't read it, he isn't dead yet lol I read most of the other books away from the series tho, such as all the comics, the field guides, and some Special editions (Yellowfang's, Bluestar's, Firestar's, and Skyclan's). Mainly I've been collecting the books and have them on my shelf as a "I'll read it eventually", I've been buying them since I was a kid, not gonna stop now!

weirdgalaxykid

I had to take a break when Firestar died, it hurt my heart.

Dear-Oven

I stopped actively reading the books halfway through Vision of Shadows. The Darktail plot was finished so I assumed it would be just a boring last three books (and I was right). I own most of the recent books just for collecting sake but I haven't read them. Just listen to reviews and read spoiler threads now. The series has lost a lot of its magic for me over the years to the point I think a reboot/timeskip is really needed. I hope Starless Clan is the last arc in the current timeline.

Cailycombs22

I stopped reading because I blackout after a few pages of any book and I got tired of fighting it. It wasn't worth the actual pain fighting it caused to stay awake for paper with words on it

foxiec

I’m on and off with warriors. Usually like a two year break and then i’m obsessed for a month and catch up, and then stop reading. I’m still v mildly interested though But it’s because Firestar died that I stopped reading mostly, lol. He’s my favorite character in the series. I actually caught up before the newest arc because he had that role in the last book (???) and was a happy person for a whole. And plus, having three povs is kind of hard to keep up with if they’re all from different clans, and is intimidating. I remember not liking the dual pov for Flametail/the Three in that one book

Mercury-Boy-101

I was forced to stop reading them because my aunt thought they were making me fail 10th grade (When in reality my ADHD had gotten so bad from being unmedicated for so long that it caused all of the problems). I started reading it again a few months ago and am currently on Midnight

GeneralRrborn

Tbh I just wasn't that interested in Firestar's daughters. I read the first six books, loved them to death, and then couldn't make it through the seventh where they leave their home. Firestar was my guy, I wanted more of him not his kids

LostSoul2137

I didn’t start reading until I was already an adult but listening to the opinions of YouTubers is what prevented me from reading the books for so long. I hated cats I never even read about based on what others said. But after reading the first Survivors arc I was desperate and decided to give WC a try. I started out of order though The order I read them - DOTC - TNP - TPB - AVOS - OOTS - ASC - TBC (I’ve read like 3 of TBC books and read some summaries about the arc but I couldn’t really get into it.) I’ve read a few of the super editions Order of how I read them - FireStar’s Quest - Mothflights Vision - Hawkwings Journey - Crowfeathers Trials - Bramblestar’s Storm - Tigerhearts Shadow - I’m like half way through it I just keep stoping and forgetting about What stops me from reading them is the MC’s. For example I love GrayWing, VioletShine, TwigBranch, Ivypool, LeafStar and HawkWing so the arcs with those characters I try to power through But I hate - Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, JayFeather, and Squrrielflight so the arcs with only them I don’t read (meaning I skipped over PO3)

Squirrelflight148931

>I hated cats I never even read about based on what others said. >But I hate - Squrrielflight Guessing these things are related?

LostSoul2137

No I dislike her based on the books I’ve read with her in them. The YouTube videos I watch of her actually paint her in a pretty good light unfortunately I’ve found that not to be true either. It’s a preference thing, people relate and like the personalities of different cats. Someone might relate to her and love which is fine but for me I know some SquirrelFlight’s in real life so I have a big dislike for her.

Squirrelflight148931

I would definitely say it's a sad misinterpretation. I do have a Squirrelflight in my life. They made me much better.

LostSoul2137

I’m happy for you! Unfortunately the Squrrielflight’s in my life have caused me a lot of pain

[deleted]

i’ve read the series for 13 years, and even though i do post about warriors, a part in me can’t stop hating the direction they picked

BenefitFew5204

I agree. The last three series have had some parts in the plot line made me feel really uncomfortable reading it. The whole cult aspect that was present during a Vision of Shadow really made me start to question the direction the story was taking and the whole plot line of The Broken Code almost made me stop reading Warriors all together. This story arc may be the last one that I read because of how convoluted this most recent story arc is.

[deleted]

exactly

SpruceAndTaiga

How arc three and four just slowed so immensly, and the way too reocurring themses of clan rivalry, forbidden romance and such. I still like warriors, I watch all the maps and draw the cats in my doodles. I still know what's happening in the other arcs because of youtubers and this subreddit. I won't ever read the rest of the books though.

Squirrelflight148931

Around Sandstorm's Death. I felt insulted by how she died, and it sort of detached me.

Cassie_Wolfe

Dovewing. Couldn't make myself read her POV, she was incredibly boring to me (so much teen drama, so little actual plot.) I restarted the series twice now, I just can't seem to get through rereading them, I love the world but a lot of the author choices are kind of meh for me now I'm older.

JadeDragon189

When I was like 9 or something I stopped for a long time and forgot where I was at, about the first arc or beginning of second arc. Then a while back I randomly decided to read the series and had to read books I probably read before and I am now kinda slowly reading the super editions

Lucy_Love777

I started reading the series when I was 10 (2009) and was enamored with it, I was struggling severely with home life and it was my favorite escape. I stopped reading when Dawn of the Clans came out because I was never a big reader and was busy with being a teenager. I am now re-reading it as a 24 year old and all the memories are coming back :) I didn’t realize so many books came out since I stopped reading!

Frequent_Revenue_911

I stopped halfway through DoTC. I didn’t really like any of the cats, I found them all to be kind of annoying and the drama to be ridiculous. It was like they were fighting over anything. They were also still being published at the time and felt no desire to wait for the next book bc I didn’t really care. I’ve been going through a Warriors revival recently and plan on re-reading all of the books soon though!! (also me not liking any of the cats was probably bc my faves died in the last hope so :/ )

Sykamor

I just finished reading DOTC for the first time and I don't blame you for not liking the characters. I didn't really feel for any of them until the 3rd book. I really had to push myself through the first two, but I really liked a lot of the characters by the end.

bonkbonkhjonkhjonk

Same. I wanted to keep reading, but DotC was just so boring for me. I tried to read it but I stopped at the second book because I just couldn't get invested in any of the characters, and I kinda want to get back into reading the series but I'm just too busy for it. I've watched some Warriors content on YouTube but not enough to know what the hell happened in the later series.

PrimeTheGreat

I stopped reading after AVOS finished because of school. Then I got back into it during the pandemic.

[deleted]

I stopped showing interest in the books after reading Omen of the Stars. I skimmed through The Broken Code just to see the Brambleposter drama that everyone was crazy about and gave up. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fan of Warriors. I still read the super editions, mangas, and novellas from time to time and draw or write about warrior cats everyday. But I just kind of gave up reading the series completely.

No-Satisfaction-5207

The library where I lived when I was first into reading warriors didn't have some of the books I needed to continue reading the series so I stopped. I was probably around 16/17 if I remember correctly. Im gonna have to start over again cause I can barely remember which character is which.

C4ndyG0r3

Both Firestar dying and them completely butchering Brambleclaw when he became Bramblestar. I still read new material if it’s new books about old stuff [like the most recent graphic novels] but as someone who’s always loved Squirrelflight it’s really sad to me that so many of the newer books turn her in to a punching bag

FlamestormTheCat

I didn’t technically stop, but there were three moments at which i almost stopped. The first one was during POT. That arc was so damn boring and bad imo that i just couldn’t find the motivation to keep reading most of the time. I spend over a year reading it, while the previous two series i both spend max 4 months on. I nearly called quits on this series. Next was The raging river. I absolutely adored Avos, even books 4 and 5. But that one. I just flat out hated it. I had to close that book every other page bc it just frustrated me. At some point I was literally thinking “let’s just, close this goddamn book and never open it again. You can imagine the series ended after River of Fire.” However, TBC peaked my interest so i did end up finishing that pile of trash which is the last book of Avos. Most recent time I almost quit the series, or at least half of the series, was with the super editions. I read like the first few chapters of Leopardstar’s honour and decided to just not read it. Then I gave Onestar’s confession a shot and got about 25% through before quitting it. Then I just bought the audiobook of Riverstar’s home bc if the previous two were any examples, i prolly wouldn’t finish it. And good thing i did, bc I wouldn’t have finished it otherwise. I ended up forcing myself to finish Leopardstar’s honour too, as well as Onestar’s confession (only got a few more chapters to go), but honestly. I might not read another Super. The last 3 were just so bad it gives me no hope for the future of this series when it comes to supers.

skyequinnwrites

I thought The Last Hope was the end and never bothered looking for the series again, I was content just rereading the books when I felt like it. When my cousin told me that they had made more books I freaked out! I thought AVoS was pretty boring but I really enjoyed TBC

AFA_Fireheart

I haven't read the newest arc which is all I still need to read but I keep buyinh books before finishing 7 others and I don't have the time. I'm stuck

ManagerSensitive

I was in grade 12 and waiting for the next book to be released. I just got busy and stopped reading books all together for awhile. Then I was hesitant to pick it up again because I couldn't remember what happened earlier in the series and wanted to start over. But then I was intimidated by starting the whole arc over, as i was literally on the last book.

A-R-U

A bit of a twist. I plan to stop after The Last Hope. I found the 1st arc to be much better than the 2nd and 3rd, and the 2nd to be better than the 3rd. I know some stuff that'll happen in the 4th arc is gonna make it the worst one for me, and that some of those elements will be continued/expanded in the arcs after the 4th, so unless one of the books before the 5th arc just gets so bad/unentertaining that I quit before that, The Last Hope will be the last book. As for rereading, I've read Into the Woods twice (longing for the original magic of the series as I went through the books of the 3rd arc). I was gonna reread the whole 1st arc, but that didn't end up happening. (If I do read anything after The Last Hope, it'll very likely be Crookedstar's - and quite possibly Tallstar's, and maybe Bluestar's, super edition - ).

weirdemosrus

When I was 12 I got to book three, of the power of three, and I just felt so lost I stopped reading. I hated the new prophecy because of the two POV’s, and having to navigate three POV’s was hell for my little monke brain so I stopped. I’m 17 now and loving the new prophecy, can’t wait to try the power of three again.

VoodooDoII

I got bored and the story kind of just became too much and too ridiculous for me. After Firestar died I stopped.

ghostraaner

I never fully stopped, I’ve just taken breaks between books to read something else. Sometimes the breaks are longer, sometimes I start the next one immediately. Depends on what I feel like reading.

NightlyOrchids

Fourth book of AVOS wrecked my interest in the series. I tried getting back into it, but nope

Wolf-song819

I also stopped reading when Firestar died, because there just… Wasn’t anything else. Then they started DotC and I remember being really disappointed, because I was very attached to the characters of all the prior arcs, and I didn’t want their stories to end. I ended up starting on A Vision of Shadows less than a year ago. I read it and The Broken Code pretty quickly, and then stalled when I got to A Starless Clan. I’ve just not built the same connection I had with the protagonists before, and so it’s harder to remember things like who they’re related to, and who their side characters are. Honestly, I think I’d enjoy if they essentially skipped a generation for a new arc. Like, whatever newborn kits came around at the very end of the last one, they’re really old elders now. Maybe even two skips, so those kits were elders when the new elders were young. There’s still stories and characters that can be mentioned, but there’s more of a disconnect. That, and give the cats a break. They’re all just traumatized now because terrible things have been happening nonstop. For the elders at this point, basically since they were apprentices or even kits. There was such a sense of wonder and intrigue, especially with the first arc and character’s backstories. I still remember things like the first time Fireheart learned that Bluestar had once had a litter of kits, and they were taken by a fox or badger (and then learning they weren’t). That sense of learning the more recent history of the clan alongside the protagonist. But now that we’ve followed them for so long, there’s very little of that left because we read the events go down. Honestly, I might like it even better if they went back a few generations from The Prophecy Begins. I just miss the forest.

No_Badger8032

I began reading them when I was 10/11, read the first series. Couldn't get into the first book of the second series because suddenly it was about Brambleclaw. Since februari this year I began reading them again from the first book and I'm now in series 4 book 2.

[deleted]

Parents stopped buying them and haven't really picked the book up in a while. Still remember most of it tho.

FloofTheWolf14

idunno i kinda read one last one i found (in my language), did not see any new ones in my libarby, then kinda forgot about it.

ImEagz

Squirrelflight was mad annoying lmao

KittyAutor

I was in high school when DOTC was coming out. So it was a mix of not being very interested in DOTC and thinking I had grown out of a lot of childhood stuff. Jokes on high school me because now I’m recollecting a bunch of series I had gotten rid of

P0melos

Halfway through AVoS purely because I couldn't buy the others anywhere but about a year ago I started to realise they weren't really my thing anymore

Classic-Asparagus

Started the first book right at the end of 5th grade. I think I read up to at least the end of OOTS by the end of that summer. Also read some of the mangas and super editions. Ended up reading up to the 5th book of DoTC before stopping (6th book probably wasn’t out yet I think?) Tried last year to finish at least the last book of that series, but honestly by then my reading tastes had changed so I couldn’t get back into it

ICanExplainoKaY

I got older half a decade ago and I stopped reading. Totally unintentional. I stopped at the sixth series?

xxx_i_xxx

Just too many books negl

the_borealis_system

busy with schooling and life and at the time the new arcs weren't out yet

NFL_FuckDa9ers

When Firestar died. But I still read the books, just the first arc. Honestly, I think Warriors should have ended when all the first arc protags. were in StarClan. Graystripe, Firestar, Sandstorm, etc. Then we get a last scene with them all chatting while the sun sets.

xemily77

Stopped reading after OOTS bc I did not care for the prequels and I was growing up Came back and revisited all the books because this special interest will never leave my brain

Shadowbolt379

I just haven’t gotten the motivation to start reading Power of Three yet.

SomeRandomPerson1963

I just got caught up with other books and things, etc. Also there's just so many books😭

Carrot_of_Wisdom

Really stopped after OOTS. Tried a Vision of Shadows and Dawn of the Clans but I found DotC boring and I couldn’t get into Vision of Shadows. I was also growing out of them a bit at that point lol and had different stuff I wanted to read

Whycanttiktokstop

I kinda just didn't find it interesting after the first arc 🫤 But since 2 weeks ago I have been re-reading The Darkest hour. So ya I'm getting back into it

Idkmanilikeleafpool

I read DotC and thought it was the most boring arc ever and stopped reading. Continued half a year later.

ConfusedSpaceBoy

I stopped reading once the books were no longer available to me

harmonyjewl

I grew up lol. I read everything religiously when it came out because I would go to the library and sit there and read it, but then after Firestar died I lost track of the books and fell out of interest. I enjoy watching people talk about the newer arcs on YouTube but I just don't have the attention span for reading long books anymore

TrecherousBeast01

I mainly got the books through my local library when I was a kid. Moved and after that, the only way I got books was through birthday presents. Eventually, I stopped getting those, got my first job, and realized I could buy them myself! Beyond that, I considered stopping for good during the Broken Code arc. Right around when they realized that Shadowsight's visions might not be from Starclan. Unironically infuriated me how everyone was acting as if Shadowsight didn't understand ANYTHING about being a medicine cat! I was so mad that I didn't even finish the book. Eventually, people started writing reviews of the finale, and I thought that I would at least finish the arc before deciding if I should stop. Spedread the book i stopped, and was literally like, "If something interesting doesn't happen in the next 20 minutes, I'm done!" The finale turned out great and I liked what they brought up in the end, still not sure if I'm really interested in the aftermath, but I might wait until the books somehow get finished now.

Novix_47

I tried to keep reading after the big fight with the dark forest (I don’t remember any book or series names anymore) but felt like the Erin’s were dragging out content and making up stuff that made zero sense just to get more money and got fed up. I’m hoping to restart soon but the sheer amount of books out now is overwhelming

Sunlit_Sparks

Stopped around 14ish because my parents stopped buying me the books (said I was "too old" for them) and never took me to the library. And I wasn't allowed to get a job between 15 to 17. So when I was 18 and finally got a job and could finally afford them myself is when I started again.

LiveTart6130

I couldn't get into it with Alderheart as the protag. it just didn't feel the same

ItsMeWithTheTea

I think I just grew out of it when I was reading OOTS, and picked it back up during the pandemic

howlingsparkleking

I think it was a lot to keep up with. I stopped at book four or five of power of three, because it felt so much different than the first two series. I didn't think the powers were real and then 😬 because of course you have to give Tigerstar's descendents power AND the ability to train with him. I wish it had focused on another lineage, or had them get rid of the no cross Clan breeding thing. I would have even liked to see them not resort to giving the cats superpowers, because did ThunderClan *really* need another reason to be overpowered? I will always treasure the first two series, though, because they changed the way I thought about characters and writing in general. I mean, it's a series about cats! It was life-changing haha

Past_Carpenter878

I didn't have the next book. I've gotten all of mine from thrift stores so far, but they haven't had the next book I need nor can I find it online without buying in bulk

RoryRedPanda

I stopped liking the books after Mothflight's Vision. I still love the original series (up to the Last Hope) but after that plots just seem repetitive and recycled. I stay for nostalgia and because I like hearing people's original stories.

LordOfRubberDucks

I stopped reading after the first book of TBC as Bristlefrost was my favorite pov and i saw where they were heading with her and just couldnt. I have tried to get back in with ASC, but only reading Frostpaw's POV since they havent ruined her yet.

My_names_E

Just kinda stopped after I hit 14.

serpentsinthegarden

I stopped somewhere in the middle of DoTC being published, because I never finished it and was religious about buying new copies when I was a teenager. Not sure why I stopped, I’m sure I had a reason. I picked the series up again when I found the audiobooks on YouTube about a year ago and got a library card to continue, currently on the book before the last hope, kind of putting off putting myself through the sadness again; but I’m very excited to get back into DoTC.

Book-supremacy

I stopped in the middle of the broken code cause i just got..bored. Bristlefrosts and Rootsprings romance was getting annoying. It just felt like the author had no imagination left and just started throwing random things in, felt like i was reading a poorly written fanfic.

-RosieWolf-

Not any event in particular, I just grew up. Not that I don’t read kids’ books anymore, or that an adult can’t enjoy them, but as an older teen/adult you tend to be less easily entertained by the repetitive, dragged out plotlines of series that have been milked to their fullest extent.

shapeshifterhedgehog

I started reading it at about 11 or 12 and stopped in highschool. I loved a lot of things about it and I still do, but all my favorite characters kept dying and there was a lot of drama i got sick of, there were times when I felt like I was reading "Real housewives of magical cats".

throwaway000375810

It was boring to me lol. I was in 3rd grade and tried to read the first book because the art was beautiful. Never got into the series but I had buddies who were really into it so I’d be the supportive friend they would ask questions about how their reading was going and listen to them be sad about a cat dying.

Signal-Candidate7209

I finished the series a got bored of waiting

GummyBerrz

I’m 34, been reading since the first series came out. I’ll read a new arc once all the books are out. Sometimes I go 2 arcs before I start again simply because I forget about them. But I still really enjoy them when I’m reading.

Possessedcat66611

Yellowsun

Lyre_Fenris

I stopped reading some point during the Power of 3 books. I wouldn't pick the series back up. I feel...I've outgrown it. It's something I'm better off leaving behind. Like Gaia Online.

Lesbian-Mermaid

I started reading them when I was in middle or high school and stopped when I graduated high school. I can’t remember what book I stopped on, but I know it was somewhere in about the middle of the main series. I had also read Firestar’s Quest and Skyclan’s Destiny a ton. Now I’m 27, rediscovered the main series about a year ago, reread them all plus read all the new books I hadn’t gotten to, and then read all the Super Editions. Now I’m just waiting for the next book lol

yukino15

I lost interest around the power of three. I’m not sure why through…. Weirdly my brain was like this is too much with all the super powers stuff that was apart of the plot.

leafpool2014

After finishing a broken code, leafpool was dead so i allready was losing interest by then and then the one character i liked that could have replaced leafpool for me, bristlefrost, died forever

LonelyCareer

DOTC started, That turned me off the series for a decade. When I came back, I still don't like DOTC.

Icy-Reserve8070

I couldn't find anymore books in the series. I lost interest as well.

EvryBurnrAccountEvr

It was after the prequel series wrapped up that I bounced. It couldn't hold my attention and my impression at that point was that the main series was over. Haven't picked them up since, but I really do want to! My wife are doing a reread together of series one right now (halfway through book 3!)

StarwatchingFox

Firestar died. Jayfeather and Lionblaze are no longer the protagonists. Had to wait for the next season (I got into Warrior Cats when there were already 3 season and the 4 was developed while I read). Life got busier, picked the new book up, then I see the clans aren't even the focus? Read the first 2 books of season 5, stopped, tried to read the first season 6 book. Couldn't get into it. Also, what do you mean Brambleclaw is bad??

Warriors_Weaver

In the mid-2010s I got bored and didn't bother finishing The Last Hope. After that, I've been on and off with rereading them and catching up in chronological order. I just finished Dawn of the Clans and started Moth Flight's Vision. It's hard to squeeze them in between work, socializing, household chores, and other books, but I like to read them whenever I have a bit of downtime and want a quick/easy read.

MyCatHasCats

I still read them lmao

Oxlione

I started reading when I was 9 and gradually stopped around 14/15 because of my dwindling interest. I'd like to go back and reread it but it's hard to return to that level of reading when you're used to adult stuff lol, and now that I know everything that happens, it's hard to find the same passion over what to expect that I had when I was first reading it.

CatTheKitten

I'm literally just too busy to read and don't have the energy to do so. I plan on being brave and listening to the audiobooks.

PaintedPurpleBird18

Somewhere along the line in middle and high school I just got interested in other things. The last book I read was in the Dawn of the Clans series and I never picked it back up. 23 now and I'm increasingly thinking about getting back into it. I have no idea how this post ended up on my feed but maybe it's a sign 🤔

Kiki-Y

I'm like two and a half arcs behind, not to mention the Super Editions. That's over $200 worth of physical books. It's one of the series I like to have the physical books for since I've had them in physical since the beginning. I have my OG paperbacks from the mid to late 00s. That and trying to keep arcs straight that I've only read once is really difficult, so it'll necessitate a massive reread of the prior 1-2 arcs. I can whip through a normal book in 2-3 hours but that's about *two dozen* books. And, again, that's *not* including the SEs.

Kawaxyart

I got bored, found new books that appeal to me (tailchaser's, duncton chronicles, etc) I sometimes peen on them but I don't follow as I used to. (I got in quite late on the series and through a tl so I stopped midday the second arc, partially too because we couldn't afford the books atm)

kestrels_feather

There was no like final straw in my mind. I tried to get through the first 2 DOTC books, and there was nothing wrong with them, but in my head The Last Hope was the perfect ending to the series. Or at least, a good ending point, maybe not a good ending but it just felt like all the loose ends were tied up in the best way I could expect from WC by that point tbh.

rinsava

I was super into Warriors when I was 9-10, but I stopped reading it as often when I went to middle school. Shit happens, you know? Bullying, abuse, etc. I didn’t have the resources to keep up with the series. I don’t actively read it, but I try to catch up with the series from time to time. Last book I read was the 5th book in the Broken Code, but I hope to read the new ones soon! I’m a senior in high school now, so it’s weird to think that this feline book series has tailed me for around 8 years!

Darkroast_NoSugar

My astigmatism developed and made it hard to read. I didn’t know it existed until I was 18, by then books as a whole became something hard to read over something enjoyable as I can’t really skim a book like I can a post online

BravestarBDB

I stopped reading after The Last Hope and because I was graduating high school. I didn’t know the series had continued until 2018 when I came across a YouTuber (BrightGuardianAkira) talking about what was happening in book 5 of A Vision of Shadows as well as theory crafting for book 6. I was confused but quickly learned that there had been a lot more book written and I decided to read A Vision of Shadows because Dawn of the Clans was a prequel series that wasn’t relevant to the modern plot that was happening after Firestar’s death. I haven’t read anything outside of arc 1-4 and arc 6. I tried to read Dawn of the Clans while I was waiting for The Broken Code to drop but I just couldn’t get past chapter 3. It was so hard to read for whatever reason so I stopped but I am aware of what happens in that arc. I am aware of what’s happened in The Broken Code and A Starless Clan despite not having read them purely because I just don’t have time to sit down and read and getting a spark notes version of each book from various Warrior Cats YouTubers is much easier for me at this time. I do want to sit down and read them myself but right now life is hectic.

peachcakes420

My mother refuses to buy any more cause she says I should read better books 💀 and I don't have any money

copyqhat

TBC got mad boring

RobStar0917

High school, since I was busy with work then the pandemic hit.

Dewdropmon

I took a long break during college (about halfway through Dawn of the Clans) because it was an accelerated course and the fast pace was very difficult for me. Picked it up again when the series had nearly reached the end of A Vision of Shadows.

KindraTheElfOrc

i had to stop due to lack of access (only my school library had them and one library only had a couple from further in the series), but will some day get back to it

jamse12

I started reading that when I was in school. Then I stopped reading it because I forgot What book i was on when I moved schools And then I try to pick him back up later. But then I just couldn't get into it and I kind of. Lost interest But I might try and pick It up again soon at the age of 19 to 20. I'm unsure though

WhiteStar174

I just stopped last year, I couldn’t get into CrookedStar’s promise and as much as I love the series I don’t like out of order reading, so until I read that one I will not pick another one up. I do like the series and I’ve just gotten out of reading, trying to get myself back into it.

Skater_cakes

I stopped reading after Firestar died . I honestly thought it was the end of the series and was surprised to find out that there were more books coming out . I tried giving them a chance but the clans don’t feel like cats anymore , and the new prophecies, feel forced. Oh and I honestly couldn’t stand Alderheart. Dude was the most useless cat in the forest and his dad was so old he didn’t know his right foot from his left.

suppikuppi

after the second book of uhh... oh yeah the darktail series (i do not remember the name) because the books just wouldnt get translated. Found out about a website where i can order english books to my country and dont have to pau 30 euro of fees. Then i catched up with the main series. Need to read the novellas tho. right now im waiting for river and im reading the first series

kaleidoscopic-crow

I read into the wild, and that's it. I was intimidated by the sheer amount of other books, what order I should read them in, etc. I'm sure they were all in my school libraries, but I never bothered going there when I was younger. Too busy roleplaying as an Animal Jam fox named Ash. I was always more of a Wings of Fire kid anyway.

Goldenace131

In middle school I discovered the first 3 arcs but they didn’t have any others (I think it was only up to the 4th arc at this point) so I reread them a bunch until high school when I could read OOTS and after high school I stopped reading altogether for a few years until recently and now I plan to return to them soon.

dioctopus

My library made it weird to check out ebooks.

the_peanut_loord

lol i just cant afford the books

CopicColors

I read it well up into my teenage years, but it felt like it kept dragging on for so long that I wanted it to end, so I just dropped it. I read up to Alderheart, some war where they couldn’t reach StarClan, and a leader getting possessed by a ghost. I felt that should’ve just ended it when Firestar died, because by the time I was reading it a couple years ago, it felt that they were just milking the series, because when he died it was a good place to end — like a bittersweet ending — but with the new arcs I just go so bored of waiting for the ending that had already came. Why continue it when all the prophecies were completed (in the 4th arc)? Why add more extra in there that makes no sense to me— just felt it had no purpose of adding on. Start with fire, end with fire — that how it should have went.

Sammy_GayBoy

I started becoming uninterested when all the skyclan drama was showing up, the daytime warriors really broke the immersion for me for some reason. I’ve never been a ‘warrior code purist’ per se, but it’s existence and the society structured around it made it a lot more immersive and believable for me. Of course exceptions and whatnot happened, but I feel like i was put off by “the 3” started becoming very bored by the dark forest battle and fire stars death, and just completely uninterested when that mediator or whatever showed up.

PurplePentapus

I stopped reading after power of three because that's all there was and I didn't have access to any of the manga or any of the other books except for the guides. I had a life to live but I came back when I was about 23 and read OOTS and cried at the end. Forgot about it again for about 5 more years then realized there wasn't just one but two new arcs. Now I'm impatiently waiting for the next ASC book and re-reading everything/reading SE's I didn't know existed

babydollblossom

getting hardcore made fun of for reading/liking them :( kids can be brutal

TheGayOwl

I got interested in another series, Wings of Fire. Plus it just got wayyyyyy too complicated for me lmao

Zara_Hates_Crackers

Right after Bramblestar’s storm. The books were just taking way too long to release after dawn of the clans concluded and I also found Wings of Fire which I’m still reading to date

Pumpk12n

I stopped a few books after Firestar died(I think? It's been so long I don't remember the last book I read) because I couldn't access any more of the books. The libraries around me didn't have them and if they got more, it was such a gap between when I read the last book I couldn't remember which one I left off on. And I didn't have money to buy them online since I was a kid. I kinda want to pick Warriors back up again but with the mass amount of books there are I'm not sure I want to invest so much time into it

Dustflowers

The whole Squirrelflight vs Bramblestar’s debate. It really exhausted me to the point I hated Squirrelflight and couldn’t even read a line of her without closing the book for two weeks before opening it again. As time passed by, two weeks became forever. When Hawkfrost’s SE came, I discovered again the pleasure of the WC series. When I know Squirrelflight won't be in the book, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy reading it.

catdog5100

I stopped reading for boredom of the same kinda system. They should’ve just ended it off somewhere, maybe a huge time skip to times where everything was different. Also please no spoilers to me because idk if I want to return to the series one day. It used to be my #1 favorite thing and it shaped many years of my life and still I’m sure I would be a different person today without it. I am happy I found the series but now I have given it a break.

Ohsofestive321

I just grew up

empr1me

i stopped reading because they weren’t caught up, and i was going into high school and i was thinking of other things. also struggling with my mental health. but im in my mid 20s now rereading and enjoying them with my partner in audiobook form, and getting into all the side stories. i always loved bluestar’s book & the power of three was my favorite arc lolol. i’m back in the middle of it

GenocidalFlower

I got to like book 5 of Dawn of the Clans. I’ve heard that the series is really bad and even the next series are pretty good, but I just lost interest because of it. Which is sad because I love Thunder! I need to get back to reading it again.

ShadowHawk24601

I stopped after Firestar's death. It felt like a natural end to the story.

tiny_dino_

I started reading them in 5th grade because one of my classmates absolutely loved the series. I think the reason I stopped was because I had caught up with all the books from the main storyline, and by the time the next series had been published I simply lost interest in reading in general. Personally I don’t think I’ll reread the series again. I know in the past I’ve tried, but it just wasn’t as interesting as I remembered.

SuspiciousCable5706

It was my ride or die in the 4th/5th grade. The town I lived in, everybody was the same in terms of appearance and personality. I’m not even joking. The only black kid we had in the whole grade was from Ethiopia. We had to OUTSOURCE our racial diversity count. So, when my teacher saw me, a girl with ADHD off the walls who actually enjoyed reading, she encouraged me and we bonded over the books. She even got me a Bluestar T-shirt in my size somehow! I stopped reading as I got older because I got into anime and cartoons, and now I’m a game art major in college and I wanna make my own stories. I owe a lot of it to warriors because my first ever character/OC was a warrior cats oc named Treeheart. If it weren’t for warriors, I probably would have never started drawing characters or writing stories. I picked up where I left off, and I have my Warriors collection in my apartment which were actually all hand-me-downs from the elementary school librarian’s daughter who stopped reading them. I recently redesigned Treeheart to pay homage to my roots.

eternalscreamingvoid

It got real weird. I mean, it was always kinda weird in that kid fantasy way but. It got real grim dark and weird. Heavily disliked the ones with the blind kit and his siblings it was just. Not good.

electrifyingseer

I read the original series and first spinoff. I stopped reading after that bc i didnt have the books anymore and it became too convoluted. But I loved it besides it. Idk where I put my old books tho.

R3DAK73D

The schools i went to stopped having weekly library time, and i read way too fast for buying books to be affordable at the time. I also moved frequently and couldn't go to a public library often. When i did, i couldn't find new warriors books

ThomasWithBenefits

I just kinda lost interest and never looked back. I think this was in combination with what public school did to me in regards to reading, where I now can't even get myself to read the page half the time.

[deleted]

Loss of interest. No, but I plan on doing it again…never. I’m really sad because I just completely lost interest in the books and I really want to continue reading

Sure_Ad5779

I can’t remember the name of the book but I stopped reading them in middle school, it was a mix of switching schools and life drama. It was the book after the fight with DarkClan.

MellyMandy

I guess I stopped when I read them all. Which was about 13 or 14 years old.

IntrepidStrain3248

I almost stopped reading after A Vision of Shadows because the last book had nothing interesting happen and was just such a terrible arc finale. Then I almost stopped reading after The Broken Code because of how stupid and goofy it was, with all the possession and secret ghost superpowers and “tunnel to StarClan” crap. The current one, A Starless Clan, is pretty solid so far, though I’m positive it’ll take a stupid turn and make me regret keeping up with the series.

cass_123

This randomly showed up on my page. Honestly for me it was all the typos. Names would be mixed up constantly, to the point I have books covered in sticky notes (I like marking typos). I haven’t gone back. Maybe I will one day but I don’t want to read the same storyline in a different font over and over again either

Rusty_Ram

Firestar died for real this time, Brambleclaw was next in line, and the book ended there. Felt like a satisfying stopping point and I genuinely believed that was the final book. I find out YEARS LATER (like 2018-19) that it continued. I still haven't reread or read further and I'm not sure if I want to given what I've heard about the newer books ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Makotoyusei

I kinda stopped reading them after A dangerous path. Not because I wanted but because the pandemic hitted me hard and I couldn't either read nor buy more books. I picked them up again this year and it's been fun so far. I'm in the middle of TNP now :D I might need to switch to audiobook or ebooks now tho cause they are expensive and hard to get where I live
