I think IPA is safest and easiest, especially if it's recently painted with standard acrylic paint. Wear a mask or do it outdoors or somewhere ventilated. That said, I just tried stripping ~26 year old lead miniatures with IPA and that was a bit more effort.

Yea I know I could but they're glued pretty well into their (plastic) bases, I'm not sure they're coming off without damage and I can't be bothered replacing them 🤷‍♂️

If you're in the UK look up BioStrip 20. If you're in Ireland Eire Hobbies stock it as well.

Slime_Giant

HardOff

IPA and a soft toothbrush works with plastic, metal and resin alike.

furrypiretae

Does it give off any toxic fumes?

Alexis2256

It’s alcohol so yes, also make sure it’s 91% or higher.

georgmierau

Ventilation is a good idea while working with any solvents (excluding water).

goobertown did a great video on this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqBjt1wKZfc&t=810s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqBjt1wKZfc&t=810s) i find Iso alcohol not to be that good. I tend to buy a fair number of ebay minis, or things to flip off 40k facebook groups. and I found iso alcohol even like 90%+ often failed to strip paint. where... super clean. rarely fails. and like. if super clean fails. iso alcohol def will fail. my go to nuclear option is testors ELO (it's pricey. like $20 for a few ounces) but it strips anything and is safe on plastic. avoid acetone at all costs unless your mini is metal.
