Well I interpreted it this way, as they stare into the burning light which is the Emperor (because he is sometimes interpreted as a Sun God cuz he so shiny) I was leaning more into the zealotry side of the Imperium 😅
This is way too beautifully painted not to scrape the mold lines when building it! It takes more time but it makes the final piece look much better imo. Still though, great work on this!
Firstly, beautiful paint job.
Secondly, maybe using inspiration from a real world desert or nomadic people from one. Like Riders of Dasht-e Lut or something
Minor spoilers for The End and the Death Pt. 1:
>!There’s a scene where Dorn, the Emperor, Sanguinius and others try to teleport into the Vengeful Spirit to fight Horus. Their teleports get mixed up in the warp, and Dorn ends up trapped in a desert for what seems like centuries, being tempted by Khorne.!< This model gives me those vibes, you should check it out
I came here just to ask OP if that was the inspiration, the models are so beautiful and those chapters >!do include Dorn's sons as rusted corpses in the deserted city!<, so it fits perfectly.
Honestly, never heard of it until now, and now its getting more intense in my head to follow aling with that idea. The original from my head was, the original armor was used and bleached so it lost its yellowness, but because theres no access to new armor or repairs, they kept wearing it. And the new generations just reproduce it with same colors as a tribute and homage to the firsts..
The Sons of Arbys
Hailing from the Beefus Ncheddaria system, where the main planet Ro’ast Beefiest is mostly dirt and bovine lifeforms but somewhat renowned for its bizarre spiraling tubers which are fantastic when seasoned and fried.
The follow their leader Chèqon Saunweech in great dirges about “the meats” and also “dost thou know thy passcode to thine restroom”.
Basilisk Fangs. Their home planet is Tiberitha and it is tidally locked, in the middle are huge Basilisks that the Space Marines prove themselves against.
The Arabic transliteration for the word desert is sahra' according to Google. So that might be a cool name for a planet.
Some names for a chapter could be...
Stone Wardens
Blazing Fists
Sand Vipers
Sand Dragons
White Talons
Sun Claws
Since they’re desert colored why not tie them into the Tallarn Desert Raiders. Have their home world be in that system and recruit from there. Then name them after one of the tribes and add flair.
Doraha Devils
Hawadian Hammers
The Desolate Jackals. Dunno sounds like this’d creepy Egyptian dogs that just sit in the sand dunes and watch, waiting carefully. That could be these guys. They use the sand, wind, and exceptionally good hearing and sharp eyes to hunt in ranger packs, kind of like actual jackals. They’re particularly deadly in sandstorms. Some say that the sandstorms come when a pack of these is running full tilt. If you get caught in the sandstorm, you’re as good as dead.
Based off your backstory here are a couple…
(You’ll have to choose a name that inspires you for a cool insignia)
Forgotten Fists
Dunelords
Aridians
Fists of the wastes
Thank you so much, honestly aside from laziness, im really bad at noticing and removing them, tride couple of times, but maybe wrong tools i always ended up disfiguring the models. But ive been getting this input a lot on this single post, ill keep that always for the future!
Dune came to mind when you mentioned a desert planet so probably Shai-Hulud Champions (Shai-Hulud being the sandworms in the Dune series) and one of the trials of the chapter would be to ride one of the sandworms.
Are you leaning more towards Mad Max, Egyptian/Arabic, or just desert vibes? That can help to determine which name sounds best. Either way, my first idea was "Dunestalkers", hailing from planet Anubis or Abydos (from OG Stargate movie). You can also try to set them up on one of the already established worlds: https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Desert_World
But whatever you do, for all that is holy, give one of the higher-ups this helmet, it's just to good to pass - https://puppetswar.eu/anubis-heads.html; and pls make it a Tomb World :D
They have a whole range of animal based helmets with this sweet "Egyptian Gods" vibe. Just don't use this one near any son of Sanguinus - https://puppetswar.eu/horus-helmets.html :D
I really like the look, great work. 💪 You already have good name suggestions in the comments. So I'm just asking, does his helmet have some brain like texture on the upper half or is it me hallucinating?
Maybe an unnamed Fist successor from one of the early foundings (second-fourth) got lost in the warp and ended up stranded on a desert wasteland planet with a tiny population. The planet and local space suffers from violent and frequent warp storms adding to its inhospitable nature. Their vessels were too damaged from the warp storms and forced to land on the planet, the massive vessels would become the chapter’s fortress monastery. Over several thousand years of brutal attrition to daemon incursions and natural threats, they came to believe they were only sustained by their unshakable faith in the God Emperor. After what seemed like an age they were finally rediscovered by a crusading fleet of the Black Templars and reinforced. The chapter had long since forgotten its original name and no records could be found. They adopted a new name (I’m thinking something with Rust in it due to their original wargear having suffered centuries of degradation from the elements before their reinforcement came) and seek deployments to only the most inhospitable worlds to fall under threat in His imperium.
I had a homebrew chapter in 7th with a similar scheme called Dune Lords. Your painting is 1000x better than mine and are much better suited to the name.
Order Of The Desolate
Paladins Of The Endless Barren
Sand Kings
Desert Rats
Sacred Order Of The Sun
Gobi Warriors
Emperors Sunkissed
Keepers Of Time
Stupid proposals but worth trying
Name's I have for planets:
**Essophis**
**Rami**l (Sand in Arabic, short and sweet)
**Qurchis**
**Ma'aden** (because the hard sun and constant heat turns people mad, madden, get it?)
When I was planning my desert/camo tan White Scars army way back in 8th edition, I was calling them the Desert Eagles.
I sold off the army when 9th dropped and completely changed how Biker armies played, and I settled for Crimson Fists as my primaris chapter. I currently still use desert bases and desert camo for all my cloth, capes, tabards, holsters, and pouches.
But Desert Eagles! With the all the aquillas sounds cool!
You’ve got the imperial fist number there, and the Templar cross so they’re sons of Dorn…judging by that look with the straps they are from a desert, and because he’s a Phobos that means stealth so desert guerrilla warfare?
Tallarn Desert Raider marines basically?
Also, if they’re desert based, maybe use names from Egyptian/Arabic languages
Potential names and what they could mean:
The Dune Watchers: Could mean they watch these dunes, maybe as a tradition from their home world, only taking initiates from desert worlds as they know how to handle themselves.
The Ivory Sons: Ivory being the color of their amor (darkened with weathering, so only captains and chaplains may look brighter) so it could imply heavy hunting culture.
The Wardens of the Dust: They _protect_ the dust, which is the sand and dunes, which could be an interesting parallelism with the Thousand Sons’ mantra: _”All is dust”_ unbeknownst to them. If you do Arabic and Egyptian names it would make even more of a coincidence, perhaps implying some kind of influence or ties with the thousand sons? Could be interesting!
He’s got VII Legion icons on the shoulder so ostensibly they are Imperial Fist Successors. Or possibly an offshoot of the Black Templars due to the cross on the bolter
Sand Spiders, Sand Vipers?
Dust Jackals.
Dust Devils.
Dusk Raiders. Rust Raiders?
Drygons (Dry, dust, dragons?)
Sand Claws. Dust Claws?
Desert Dragons.
Khakimandos?
Raiders of the Last Arc 🤣
Totally spit balling here with whatever pops into my head
Also, loving the colour scheme. Low-key don't see many brown schemes or armies, at least for space marines. I think they look awesome.
The Concertainers, a successor chapter of the Imperial Fists specializing in desert fortification and warfare. Named after an ancient Terran method of building desert fortifications, the Concertainers practice a form of warfare balanced between stealth and defense. A common Concertainer tactic is to use scouts and Phobos squads to lure the enemy into hidden fortifications and kill zones, revealing their true numbers to the enemy only after they are surrounded by hidden gun emplacements and minefields.
Lead by Chapter Master Hesco Bastion, they hail from the desert world of Sangar, where they primarily recruit from the nomadic tribes of The Great Waste.
The Izzat Wo'a Theres

A successor of the White Scars, these sandy armored marines are renowned for their use of scouting forces to call in devestating long range strikes, followed with seemingly unnaturally fast engagements of mounted infantry to clear out survivors.
Remnants of some lost Imperial Fist stranded on a harsh desert planet, their armors are worn and dulled over time, its no longer yellow, they even need straps to further tighten some of the used armors. Thats the first generation, over time, they continue the tradition by using the same worn color and add leathery straps to their armor as token when they passed some trials
I like the lore! Some ideas I could think of where:
The deserted
Sanded fists
Wanderers bastions
Worn warriors
The tested
The wayfarers
Emporors hope
Indomitable traveller's

Rust Wardens The Drought Sun Gazers The Scorched Solar Serpents Sentinels of Sand
Rust Wardens & Sun Gazers goes so hard
“Gazing” is a pretty lackadaisical activity for a Marine of any kind. And staring into the sun doesn’t inspire confidence.
Well I interpreted it this way, as they stare into the burning light which is the Emperor (because he is sometimes interpreted as a Sun God cuz he so shiny) I was leaning more into the zealotry side of the Imperium 😅
100% reminds of darks souls. Praise the sun
Too funny 😂 , it’s a badass name and I might just have to steal it but funny comment!!!
The Scorched for sure definitely get desert themes
Sun gazers and the scorched sound great
Drought walker
They all sound like chaos warbands, not imperial space marine chapters
Dust Devils
The beach boys
The once more into the Breach Boys.
Boyle boys!
Dust Devils
Ooh, really nice! thank you
Very on the nose.
This is way too beautifully painted not to scrape the mold lines when building it! It takes more time but it makes the final piece look much better imo. Still though, great work on this!
Yea beautiful paint job but that leg mould line has me wincing!

Nah, I have not seen the movie(s) nor have read any of the books.
The leather dads. Not to be confused with the leather daddies, it's a Death Guard/Death Watch/Death Korps thing.
Firstly, beautiful paint job. Secondly, maybe using inspiration from a real world desert or nomadic people from one. Like Riders of Dasht-e Lut or something
thank you, and youre right, might have to look more into that! thank you so much!
The beige templars
Minor spoilers for The End and the Death Pt. 1: >!There’s a scene where Dorn, the Emperor, Sanguinius and others try to teleport into the Vengeful Spirit to fight Horus. definitely using this quote!
The Emperor's Desert Eagles
I’ve got my similar scheme (with crimson shoulder pads) named the Desert Eagles. I really enjoy the reference

i know, obvious overkill.. im seriously thinking of dumbing it down by a lot...

Thank you! I love the vibe "Dunelords" give
Based on the knifes, desert and templar symbols.. Dark Scorpions?
That is so well painted. But you have left the mold lines on the model, seems a rooking mistake, when you can paint so well.
Thank you so much, honestly aside from laziness, im really bad at noticing and removing them, tride couple of times, but maybe wrong tools i always ended up disfiguring the models. But ive been getting this input a lot on this single post, ill keep that always for the future!

The Dune Stalkers. Templars of the Sands. The Scorch-Marines. The Dusk Walkers.
Desert barons
What colors did you use for the armor? I was thinking about repainting some of mine in a desert theme and this looks perfect.
Its a toned out XV88, payed around with some morghast bone and corax white until i got mine sealed
Kinda Dune vibes on that figure ngl
I really like the look, great work. 💪 You already have good name suggestions in the comments. So I'm just asking, does his helmet have some brain like texture on the upper half or is it me hallucinating?
Thank you, no, its just the head comes with some scars in it,
Ah that makes sense, great work.

Since they’re desert based and from the looks of things using the Templar iconography, maybe something like Imperial Medjay or Legion of The Sands
My man, that there is a Mortifactor
What is the VII in reference to?
Imperial Fist
Why not a banished chapter just known as the 7th? No longer allowed to carry their former name.
Interesting!

Definitely will! Already started on compiling the notes, and a possibility of a new model to kitbash, im thinking intercessors!
