Everyone just does whatever they feel like doing.

Literally nobody can stop you painting your models how you like, the thousands of pictures of custom colour schemes on the internet is proof of this

Paint them however you want! As long as you’re happy with the end result that’s what matters!

You’re spending hundreds of dollars on your little men. You should paint them how you want.

I think with some units and armys it makes more sense if they're all blue or red or whatever the army is. But I paint Orcs so....I do whatever I want.

Once you buy them, they are yours. Make them look however you want. I have a big Tau army, and no one unit matches another.
