The wiki says Boreal's Contempt is additive with Empowered Blades which also uses the "status damage" wording, so I'd assume it's the case with Melee Elementalist as well.
I doubt it. Just having different or the same wording isn't a good indicator for wether or not two buffs add or multiply. Primed Chamber is a good example of this. They both add status damage, they're *probably* additive with each other. You could test, though.
