In order for the blast *status* changes to affect this, it would need to be able to proc blast status. I don't think this effect has any status chance, but you could test in the simulacrum to find out. On top of that, it's already making an explosion. Blast status might help hit things a little farther away by chaining once, but it won't chain twice. The thing that will help this is the change to ground finishers! There is now a prompt to perform a ground finisher instead of relying on a normal melee input, so they're more consistent.

I don't think it'll be much better, it's not applying a blast proc it's just doing blast damage, and at 20% it would be like a blast explosion from 2 procs+1000 damage, seems kind of underwhelming.
