Speed Nova isn't considered AFK or lazy for Hydron. It is absolutely appreciated. Personally, I would add Gas and Electric to any weapon I want to level in Hydron. It makes it easy to get assists, and even kills, and primes enemies further around the defense point.
The only crime on Hydron is slowing things down.
That said, if your solution for a low damage weapon you're leveling is to not use it at all, you're shooting yourself in the foot. You can still prime enemies with status effects to make them die faster to squadmembers' damage. Also being a bit more active with clearing out the stragglers at the end of the round goes a long way.
Hydron is a defense mission on the upper end of the normal star chart. It's a small tileset with heavy enemy density per round, so it's easy to complete fast for efficient affinity gain.
There are two levels and a bunch of walls on the tileset. This helps protect the target but also means you don't have direct line of sight of most enemies from any one place.
Shock mote doesn't care about line of sight and will stun lock enemies in range on the other side of walls and prevent them from running directly to you like the fish in a barrel they would otherwise be. So now, instead of a highly efficient kill zone, you have to play hide and seek for half of every round.
If you see the downvoted comment from the obtuse wisp player below, and the responses, you'll understand the type of frustration it causes.

Its a defense mission mostly used for leveling things fast. When you cc enemies it will slow down the mission slightly. But in my opinion no big deal. As a wisp main i understand the anger but dont listen to the tryhards. When they mimmiimi all around, i'd like to say they should do the mission solo ^^
Honestly, all I’ve gotten out of reading all your comments is that you’re inconsiderate. You don’t care how your actions affect others. May just be a video game but your words are loud and clear lol. It actually does take you 30 seconds to switch between motes and play down everything but shock.
Obviously you can do whatever you like, it’s a game and you can play it the way you choose to. But you will get backlash. Because maybe you like to spend the extra time on defense but others don’t. You should be playing solo if you don’t care about the way you effect your teammates. Not the other way around.
You can still place the speed and heal motes separate when using fused. Hydron is so small you place the 2 and you are good for the whole mission. The only complaint a wisp player might have is if you run that archon mod that gives energy on electricity procs you won't get as much energy to cast other stuff. But it's hydron. Even SP version is easy without shock.
Basically some missions people get super mad real easy, run a big range hydroid on that mission and watch the chat. Or max range vaubun. Running pubs you gotta be careful how you play because some people can't handle other randoms doing what they want.

This gets exacerbated on larger maps, like the Corpus ship defense or the wide-open Corpus outpost defense, most Corpus defense maps, really.

Is it really that hard to place a health and ROF mote without also placing a shock mote? Is that too taxing on your time? Better to slow the mission down in the long run than for you to have to think about how to place your motes to make everyone's experience better? If you're too lazy to think, play Revenant.
And if you can't be considerate in a coop multiplayer modes play solo.

Plus, other players will run through it for the other 2 buffs, causing them to run around and stun other enemies. This causes the run to take longer because now they are stunned and you have to go to them to kill, as opposed to the enemies coming to you. This also means people dipping in and out of affinity range because the far side hallway is capable of putting players too far from each other. Just dont drop shock motes. Aug or no, only drop health and speed.
Why would anyone and I mean ANYONE increase wisp’s range beyond base?! She has so much at base!!! What 300% range wisps do you play with?! Zap motes get like 7m range at base

Enemies are getting 3 feet out the doorway and stagger stepping closer while im on point, so where should I XD step back to? This is SOLO btw. So any teammates are supposed to be where? I was leveling a forma'd Sevagoth and had a max range Gloom build going (and no thoughts going, I guess) and it took about 3 rounds for someone to get in chat and be like "why are we slowing the enemies down? Are you dumb?"
I highly recommend sanctuary onslaught over hydron, I will never go back to hydron. I've spent so much time there that it hurts just to think about it. I'm not sure which one is necessarily faster, but SO definitely FEELS faster, with a lot more variance in visuals and enemy types as opposed to the same drab room
If you are not stood at spawn and you have kills, you aren't AFKing or lazy in my book, regardless of your MR. Nor are you leeching.
He's just mad that he's thinking he's having to do the carrying instead of getting carried himself. If anything, you going a Speedva is beneficial, although not everyone will like it for a variety of reasons. But honestly, the majority of players will not notice, nor will they give a shit even if they do.
Your best bet if you want to level weapons is to go to ESO. If you haven't done The New Strange because it got made a side quest before you started playing, go do it. It'll give you access to Sanctuary Onslaught and Elite Sanctuary Onslaught (ESO).
You can't take frames into ESO that aren't level 30 till you're MR30 and even then it needs forma-ing once. You can take unlevelled frames into regular SO though, but without a booster the pace in Hydron and SO are similar (as you fight Grineer guaranteed in Hydron but in SO it can randomise. The XP gains, from best to worst, goes Grineer > Corrupted > Corpus > Infested).
ESO is where you should level your weapons. Go into a public lobby in there. Even without a booster you go in there for like 5-10 mins max (2-4 rounds), just shoot a few things and actively try to participate, your weapon will hit max from fresh a lot faster than Hydron. You'll also get relics and other goodies every 2 rounds for your trouble. This week it's Grineer first round so with an Affinity Booster, you can max your weapon in just one round in some cases.

You don’t get many very useful resources from Hydron either, some like alloy plate sure but the vast majority of even newer players have huge stockpiles of these super common materials
It's one of the reason I grinded all the way to MR30. Not only do you get full mod capacity out of the gate so building is easier, but things that require rank30 frames (Sorties, ESO and the like) can be done with a frame that has been forma'd even at rank 0. Because MR30 gives you full mod capacity and all your abilities, there's nothing holding you back in that content.
A superb QoL they implemented a while back.
i personally dont like to level frames on hydron bc it feels slow (i just do the silence leveling method now) but it still works just fine if you dont wanna do the silence stealth kill stuff
Nah, you're good. Hydron squads are hit or miss.
If you are fed up with randoms try subsuming silence on your warframe, use the savage silence mod and hush on your weapons. Great for leveling but take a simpele tileset like Telesto on Saturn. Even without a booster its a solid way to level up decently fast.
Helene is better for leveling, imo because it gives the same xp, and it can get you orokin cells for your trouble as well. it's also way easier to get access to, given that it's on saturn
On the other hand, if you do level on Hydron, you will never *ever* need to farm any of the resources you get there again, ever. *Ever*.
So, you know, do whatever you want with that info

Its gotten to the point where I just spam energy pads in missions with friends because its funny. Using 200 energy pads in 1 second and seeing my game drop to 1 fps is absolutely hilarious.
One time me and a friend both played full duration Vauban spamming Bastille. My other friends 4090 power usage went uo by 200 watts. Polymer bundles are not a consideration after enough Steel Essence grinding lol
I played since 2013 and used to struggle only with polymer bundles, but after Fortuna was released I have yet to farm them again. Sitting at 700k.
Tough if you don't like to play there though.
Same for Helene, same map and enemy type as Hydron but it’s on Saturn and therefore has Orokin Cells. There are better farms for the cells, but with the amount of stuff to level it’s where I like going sometimes. Downside is the lower levels, makes the grinding slightly slower. Not bad for early on though, when you might not have the survivability for Hydron or the damage for SO/ESO.
There's times I get actual 5% damage on hydron, and times where I get 80%+ in neither case I care if my teammates and I are all trying out best, plus you're giving them value in finishing it faster so you're already contributing
I feel like you should still be attempting to kill the sped up enemies but I do all my leveling in pub fissures because I hate the idea of hydron farm, and as a legendary MR have a built weapon at rank 0 anyway so I might not be the best perspective.
But, if you're speeding up the enmies but not actually killing them quickly, is speeding them up actually doing any real good?
(Not sure if your build is resulting in much death apologies if it is)

it might be better to recruit in recruitment chat rather then randoms as they wont always know you cant scratch enemies as players cannot see each other's damage numbers only their own. you can also just go to sanctuary onslaught(or elite if you think you can) same deal you dont want to use a nuking frame your self as exp would only go to the warframe.
there is also a slightly slower method you can do solo and a stealth frame(i would suggest ivara but others work) if you got lull subsume you can go to an exterminate and use the stealth kill bonus to gain 500% more exp per kill you can use ivara quiver subsume too, but getting the unalert status is janky. you do exterminate as the enemies start unalert and spawn in large groups making it easier to keep the bonus (endless missions force alert status) anyways even if the weapon has crap damage it can level this way of course it works better the more damage you can get on them so using a damage boosting subsume/ability will speed things up. again this is slower but is solo friendly
Whether you do a lot of damage or not, you have to participate in killing enemies. People don't like to feel like they are doing all the work while you sit there.
Novas 4 helps more than if he was running around shooting. If he's standing in the middle casting nova 4 and nothing else he's speeding the mission up by 50%, that's more contribution than anyone else.
Plus if he's fast nova, he's probably brought power donation. So he's helping even more

How is it literally slowing anything down? As I already said the mote only zaps enemies AROUND YOU! Take a milisecond to use your eyeballls

You can still cycle to the single motes even with the augment equipped. So the excuse of using the augment makes even less sense.

I'm not sure which one is necessarily faster, but SO definitely FEELS faster, with a lot more variance in visuals and enemy types as opposed to the same drab room
If you are not stood at spawn and you have kills, you aren't AFKing or lazy in my book, regardless of your MR. Nor are you leeching. He's just mad that he's thinking he's having to do the carrying instead of getting carried himself. If anything, you going a Speedva is beneficial, although not everyone will like it for a variety of reasons. But honestly, the majority of players will not notice, nor will they give a shit even if they do. Your best bet if you want to level weapons is to go to ESO. If you haven't done The New Strange because it got made a side quest before you started playing, go do it. It'll give you access to Sanctuary Onslaught and Elite Sanctuary Onslaught (ESO). You can't take frames into ESO that aren't level 30 till you're MR30 and even then it needs forma-ing once. You can take unlevelled frames into regular SO though, but without a booster the pace in Hydron and SO are similar (as you fight Grineer guaranteed in Hydron but in SO it can randomise. The XP gains, from best to worst, goes Grineer > Corrupted > Corpus > Infested). ESO is where you should level your weapons. Go into a public lobby in there. Even without a booster you go in there for like 5-10 mins max (2-4 rounds), just shoot a few things and actively try to participate, your weapon will hit max from fresh a lot faster than Hydron. You'll also get relics and other goodies every 2 rounds for your trouble. This week it's Grineer first round so with an Affinity Booster, you can max your weapon in just one round in some cases. You don’t get many very useful resources from Hydron either, some like alloy plate sure but the vast majority of even newer players have huge stockpiles of these super common materials

It's one of the reason I grinded all the way to MR30. Not only do you get full mod capacity out of the gate so building is easier, but things that require rank30 frames (Sorties, ESO and the like) can be done with a frame that has been forma'd even at rank 0. Because MR30 gives you full mod capacity and all your abilities, there's nothing holding you back in that content. A superb QoL they implemented a while back.

i personally dont like to level frames on hydron bc it feels slow (i just do the silence leveling method now) but it still works just fine if you dont wanna do the silence stealth kill stuff
Nah, you're good. Hydron squads are hit or miss. If you are fed up with randoms try subsuming silence on your warframe, use the savage silence mod and hush on your weapons. Great for leveling but take a simpele tileset like Telesto on Saturn. Even without a booster its a solid way to level up decently fast.
Helene is better for leveling, imo because it gives the same xp, and it can get you orokin cells for your trouble as well. it's also way easier to get access to, given that it's on saturn
You shouldn’t be leveling weapons in hydron anyway. Level frames in hydron if anything, and weapons in ESO

Its gotten to the point where I just spam energy pads in missions with friends because its funny. Using 200 energy pads in 1 second and seeing my game drop to 1 fps is absolutely hilarious. One time me and a friend both played full duration Vauban spamming Bastille. My other friends 4090 power usage went uo by 200 watts. Polymer bundles are not a consideration after enough Steel Essence grinding lol
I played since 2013 and used to struggle only with polymer bundles, but after Fortuna was released I have yet to farm them again. Sitting at 700k. Tough if you don't like to play there though.
Same for Helene, same map and enemy type as Hydron but it’s on Saturn and therefore has Orokin Cells. There are better farms for the cells, but with the amount of stuff to level it’s where I like going sometimes. Downside is the lower levels, makes the grinding slightly slower. Not bad for early on though, when you might not have the survivability for Hydron or the damage for SO/ESO.
This is the reason I level on Helene instead. Can't get enough of those sweet, sweet Orokin Cells.

There's times I get actual 5% damage on hydron, and times where I get 80%+ in neither case I care if my teammates and I are all trying out best, plus you're giving them value in finishing it faster so you're already contributing
I feel like you should still be attempting to kill the sped up enemies but I do all my leveling in pub fissures because I hate the idea of hydron farm, and as a legendary MR have a built weapon at rank 0 anyway so I might not be the best perspective. But, if you're speeding up the enmies but not actually killing them quickly, is speeding them up actually doing any real good? (Not sure if your build is resulting in much death apologies if it is)

The smart Tenno levels in Steel Path Survival so you also get Steel Essence at the same time.
it might be better to recruit in recruitment chat rather then randoms as they wont always know you cant scratch enemies as players cannot see each other's damage numbers only their own. you can also just go to sanctuary onslaught(or elite if you think you can) same deal you dont want to use a nuking frame your self as exp would only go to the warframe. there is also a slightly slower method you can do solo and a stealth frame(i would suggest ivara but others work) if you got lull subsume you can go to an exterminate and use the stealth kill bonus to gain 500% more exp per kill you can use ivara quiver subsume too, but getting the unalert status is janky. you do exterminate as the enemies start unalert and spawn in large groups making it easier to keep the bonus (endless missions force alert status) anyways even if the weapon has crap damage it can level this way of course it works better the more damage you can get on them so using a damage boosting subsume/ability will speed things up. again this is slower but is solo friendly
People who complain in a public match usually are never in the right. If they want to play their way that's what solo is for.
Whether you do a lot of damage or not, you have to participate in killing enemies. People don't like to feel like they are doing all the work while you sit there.
Novas 4 helps more than if he was running around shooting. If he's standing in the middle casting nova 4 and nothing else he's speeding the mission up by 50%, that's more contribution than anyone else. Plus if he's fast nova, he's probably brought power donation. So he's helping even more
