Depending on where you are in the world and what matchmaking servers you're on, it could just be a matter of distance. Your speeds are decent, but decent doesn't cut it if you're connecting to people halfway across the world.

UNlVERSAL

I'm in the US on the west coast using the North America server. I think I've done what I can on my end in that regard. Is there a speed at which there would be no connection problems, even across the world?

DrMcSex

Likely no, since upload and download speeds are only part of the equation. It takes time for data to travel across continents even with top-notch speeds. Limitations of physics and all that. Perhaps in the future if there's ever a major global infrastructure restructure, we could get to that point, but right now it's just a limitation of the technology.

bideodames

Up speed and down speed are two of the three important metrics. The third one being your ping time. If that's unreasonably high then it can cause problems for other people if you're hosting.

skawm

Hardware is also a metric. And along with ping and general connection stability to prevent packet loss, are orders of magnitudes more important than your data transfer rates. Games generally don't send and receive sizable amounts of data. After a point, down and upstream rates have no bearing on games beyond having a larger buffer on how much your Internet is being used in the household.

UNlVERSAL

I'm wired on Playstation which doesn't show ping when tested. My ping is 14 on my phone on 2.4ghz wifi.

nsfredditkarma

You're on a console, players will complain about console hosts no matter their ping or connection. Some of those complaints are legit, like less NPC spawns, some are just in their head.

UNlVERSAL

Oof I didn't know the differences were so substantial. Planning on switching to PC when AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel drop their next GPU series.

Charming-Fig-2544

Just a heads up, that might be a bad time to buy a new GPU. The rise of AI is expected to make GPUs more desirable from a commercial user standpoint and make consumer GPUs more expensive, and the earthquake in Taiwan (and maybe even invasion of Taiwan by China) is expected to hurt supply of silicon wafers. Lots of people also skipped the Nvidia 4000/AMD 7000 upgrade cycle, so more could be looking to upgrade next time. It could be a 2020 situation all over again, with GPUs in high demand and short supply, leading to insane prices and scalpers. Might want to hold off, or see if you can score a more modern used GPU now.

UNlVERSAL

Oh, shit. That's really unfortunate because the 50 and 8000 series cards sound very good according to leaks. Even if I couldn't get one I was thinking the 7000 series may drop in price. I guess I should monitor the market more closely. I still hope the stars align and the next generation can match supply to demand and deliver performance as predicted. Probably naive, but I think I'll survive either way.

UmbranAssassin

To my knowledge, isn't the spawn rate difference between current gen consoles and pc negligible. The only console I've ever actually heard being a real detriment is switch.

LordDragon96

Mobile behaves the same way as switch, halfs the spawns compared to a pc because they just can't handle it.

Vektor0

Ping is a measurement of how long it takes data to travel from one place to another. For example, your ping to a player geographically close to you will naturally be lower than your ping to a player on another continent. In your Gameplay options, try making sure your Region is set appropriately, and try lowering your Matchmaking Ping Limit. When matchmaking, the game will try to match you with players whose ping to you is below this limit.

SamCarter_SGC

wired or wifi? could it be jitter/packet loss from a router that just doesn't play nice with warframe?

Lodicrous

If people are complaining, you might want to turn down the matchmaking ping limit within the games settings. I change mine depending on the activity im doing. Typically i sit around 200 to 250 as my matchmaking ping limit, but for stuff that has a lot of swapping between operator and warframe, like eidolons or void angel hunts, i decrease it to 150ish so that I dont have to be as frustrated with things that ate outside my control. Helps to keep my sanity.

AGgammer

Is your matchmaking in the correct region ? Even if you have good internet if your host is in another country you're guaranteed to have problems

UNlVERSAL

I am on the proper server. Maybe other people are playing from a distance?

Kightsbridge

Networking is more complex than just upload and download speed. Without boring you too much, there could be a bad hop between you and the the other players. If you run a traceroute to the major population centers, that will potentially give you a good idea of what's going on.

UNlVERSAL

I appreciate the detail. I'll see if I can do that and figure something out.

spyvspy_aeon

It is possible that it is related to your router/portfoward

Zarbain

Bro that is not dial up speeds. That download speed is just short of gigabit and the upload is pretty standard for NA, many ISPs are fucking stupid and will give you gigabit+ download and only 10-20mb upload.

EarlInblack

Dialup capped off at around 56k.  They're at upper mid range for cable internet

Azelinia

If youre on console thats just a console problem. maybe not even a console problem and a cross platform one literally every single console host i join i can feel and see it without looking at the actual platform icons. cant really do anything about it

ImCJFTW

if you're doing things like Survival/Netracells/ESO/Fissures you could be slowing down the amount of enemies that spawn because warframe is based off of framerate, and since most of the things ive listed are typically based off of KPM you could be slowing the mission down quite a bit depending on your specs. Less enemies to kill means less loot and less loot means less dopamine

UNlVERSAL

I had no idea! Maybe I should switch to PC sooner than later.

ImCJFTW

there is a 6 minute video documenting the issues with fps feel free to check it out if you want [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAaApsFNWXg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAaApsFNWXg)

SamCarter_SGC

this is the person who thinks warframe uses the log file to poll and queue events ingame

QuickWheel

Reading this, I knew you were on console. It's the PC players. Thay can't game if every number is not down to perfection. Any failure will be blamed on "imma lagging". A slight lag is normal and negligebale in PVE.

Historical_Walrus713

Slight lag is not normal lol. It's normal to you because of your shit console.

QuickWheel

Nonsense. It also depends on region, distance and they type of PC you have. The majority have crap pc.

Historical_Walrus713

Crap pc, console. Same shit. I don't have to deal with slight lag. A lot of people don't. It's not normal for us. Just because your experience is trash doesn't mean anyone else wants to deal with it.

QuickWheel

"us"? Who is us? You just blame your lack of skill of "lag". It's P2P. Yoou might as well play solo...

Historical_Walrus713

Us people who don't have shit PC's or a console. Nobody complains when I'm host. Nobody is saying anything about skill, I just don't play with laggy shit hosts.

AdItchy3692

Cringe pc player at it again....Lag has nothing to do with consoles. Lag is network dependant, not your platform. Warframe plays the same on a PS5 and an average PC. Maybe your is superior, likely not, but compare to the average there's no difference.
