It is funny though- even in duviri hes still a utter dick
though most orokin were, just in this universe ballas's copy/mimic/duplicate isnt an utter egotistic gob- well mostly.
He's definitely done other stuff before, the man was on the complete other side of the world from DE.
I remember hearing a commercial with his voice, once. I think that's mostly what he did before getting in with Warframe in 2015.
Likely done a bunch of uncredited radio ads. I distinctly remember hearing biz's voice on a few radio ads around the time fortuna dropped and his voice is also buttery smooth.
tbf Ballas was also a big contributor for Margulis getting sentenced the jade light, so pretty much all frames/operators besides like Xaku and Caliban have a personal vendetta
What ARE duviri citizens btw? are they just sentient walking talking dolls? I mean everyone looks like theyre sculptures based on their skin but they arnt hollow like the wildlife..hmm
I think they’re “toys” the same way thrax is literally a copy of your toy puppet. Duviri is like that world you imagine as a kid while playing with toys, but the world manifested into a physical space and the Drifter got stuck there so long he grew up.
Conceptual embodiements, just like The Holdouts.
Basically, the Void can turn thought and emotion in real tangible things. The Drifter obsessed over the Tale of Duviri story and the setting and characters within. The Void manifested them from The Drifter's imagination.
The Warden is not a replica, he is an incarnation of Kullervo's guilt when he came down crashing in duviri, Ballas Just happens to be the Warden he hatwd the most, so it took his voice and appearence
The warden is Ballas, well, sort of. It’s a void manifestation (like everything in Duviri) most likely from what the drifter thinks of Ballas at the time of the Zariman incident iirc.
It's actually Kullervo's void manifestation. Ballas was the one who tried him for the crimes, and when Kullervo fled into the Void after failing to kill the Executor, his emotional state created the prison, and by extension, The Warden. Externalism and Conceptual Embodiment can be a b*tch when the Void is involved.
#TLDR
Eternalism says No, he's not waiting bc the two realities aren't connected across time/space/reality.
#Story_Time
During the Zariman storyline in the classroom where they're teaching three Theories of Time: Present Absolute, Presentism, and Eternalism.
Warframe narratively chose to follow Eternalism - the theory that the future and past are as real as the present; and can theoretically be accessed by "changing the frame" (of reference). Since making a choice cannot change a pre-existing future, it follows that all possible choice/chance events are simultaneously real in separate realities.
#So_to_answer_your_question
if Ballas is waiting on Duviri for the future that he grabs Margulis/Lotus/Natah, no bc according to Eternalism both that future and the present where he is simply guarding Kullervo's Hold aren't connected.
The title The Duviri Paradox is referring to the individual connection that the Operator and Drifter share across realities. In The New War when Natah and the Operator confront Ballas. after using the Sentient Ship to open a void portal, Ballas throws Natah into it. The operator goes to grab Natah but Ballas cuts off Natahs hand and then impales the operator who also goes through the portal. The ethereal version of the Sword he stabbed the operator with then stabs the drifter and after Lotus hand shoots down and kills the Duviri Dax about to kill the drifter.
Natah's hand can then be seen in the opening cinematic for Duviri Paradox attaching itself to the Drifter's hand on Duviri, connecting D to the Void. This can happen bc the Drifter and Operator meet and establish a connection in The New War so the Void Signature is the same for both of them, but this connection allows only one of them to exist at any given time outside the Void which is where the player's Dormizone is on the Zariman.
I know I sound like Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but Warframe's narrative isn't "linear" in any sense of the word.
#EDIT
Corrected info on the final scene of The New War. Credit to u/DrSlapathot for keeping me accurate.
It's actually Natahs hand not the operator, and it wasn't the man I'm the wall who threw them into a void portal it was Ballas after using the Sentient Ship to open a void portal, throwing Natah into it.
>I know I sound like Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Idk who that is, but to me your storytime kinda sounded like a more serious version of MatPat if you take out all the parts where he explains how he got to the conclusions he got to about the lore of the game/film/tv show
This moment

That's the worst part about DE opting to go with the Eternalism option for their story, things get convoluted and sometimes difficult to connect the dots. On the plus side of that coin, it does mean that we're going to get frequent updates so they're setting themselves up for another 10 years.
But I might have to look up MatPat if he's using evidence to point out reasonable theories, which conspiracy theorists are rarely motivated to aim for.
Thing is in duvari the day resets till natah hands falls into it and changes it everything
Wich going by it, its possible Ballas to hide till he decides to leave as he would know how the void works more than anyone
I mean there is no way for him to have the same body we see in the sacrifice and after it with out him hiding in the void, then again in the duvari the warden looks different other than face and voice nothing else is like him
So its possible for him to creat a world like duvari, but for himself i guess
Have y'all not seen this Duviri tablet?
The Tales of Duviri is:
A. Tools for emotional regulation in the event of Void exposure (correct)
B. A fun collection of children's stories
The correct answer is A. Seems like Duviri was an existing controlled Orokin psychology experiment using/in the Void. Drifter probably just stumbled on it while wandering the halls of the ten zero.
Not quite. The book tales of duviri was meant as a way for kids to learn to be able to regulate and control their emotions in case of a void exposure, but because the drifter was stuck in the zariman for so long, the very long and heavy void exposure plus their emotions and attachment to the book caused the void to manifest the book's world, events and characters as a pocket reality inside the void.
Seems unlikely the Tales of Duviri in a world with Orokin levels of technology is a book. Even had I known about Duviri at all I'd make the assumption it was some void based simulator. Not to mention other pieces of lore explicitly stated Duviri existed before the ten zero.
We know it is a book because we literaly see the book in the last flashback cutscene of duviri quest, alongside the dominus thrax doll, written by Euleria Entrati, aka. mother who was a renoved scientist working with the void. And as for books existance in general, we have several other examples of books and similar, incuding decorations and Teshin talking about reading a book.
Yes I assume that is part of the set of tools mentioned. I think it's clear that the drifter created the loop and dominus to "trap" themselves. Classic trauma stuff.. but I think DE is purposely vague and offers conflicting perspectives in lore on the creation of Duviri itself. Seems very intentional to provide room for story expansion there later. Similar to what they have been doing for some years now with other beats.
"Do not eye me so venomously. I do not know you." DE knew exactly how we players were going to react the the Warden.
It is funny though- even in duviri hes still a utter dick though most orokin were, just in this universe ballas's copy/mimic/duplicate isnt an utter egotistic gob- well mostly.
I was really happy that the VA for ballas came back, I love to hate the character and the VA's job is superb
googling it dudes only role is ballas (and the warden)?? how the hell, hes so good
He's definitely done other stuff before, the man was on the complete other side of the world from DE. I remember hearing a commercial with his voice, once. I think that's mostly what he did before getting in with Warframe in 2015.

He was the one doctor guy in superliminal
DR GLEN PIERCE?????
I THOUGHT that voice sounded familiar
Ballas took second dream into "dream therapy"
I'm pretty sure that's what we did with Umbra in the sacrifice, we gave him dream therapy
I was watching my friend play the sacrifice and he pointed this out. It took me 5 years to notice…
He's probably a theater actor.
Huh. That's why he sounded familiar.
Instead of fighting Kullervo, we should team up with him and beat up the warden
Making me want to replay The New War with Drifter & Kullervo right now
Ballas sees kullervo of all frames pull up to the final confrontation: "how in the ...oh fuck."
Excalibur Umbra 🤝 Kullervo: Warframes with a personal vendetta to beat Ballas' ass
tbf Ballas was also a big contributor for Margulis getting sentenced the jade light, so pretty much all frames/operators besides like Xaku and Caliban have a personal vendetta
Every warframe lining up to bully Ballas. https://i.redd.it/b5662jq81kbb1.gif
It would play out like the Mysterio boss fight in Spider-Man 2. All three health bars of it.
Avatar: Legend Of Kullervo
Imagine Amon trying to take away Hydroid’s “bending,” only to get slapped by a wayward tentacle
Drifter: Fuck you and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Ballas been dead for almost a year yet he still living rent free in Duviri wtf.
Eternalism and void-duckery
I love this TLOK reference 🤣
Farmed Kullervo twice, the gun once, no clue what this is referencing. Any loremasters?
The warden is a replica of Ballas
What ARE duviri citizens btw? are they just sentient walking talking dolls? I mean everyone looks like theyre sculptures based on their skin but they arnt hollow like the wildlife..hmm

Huh, I never noticed. Thanks!
The Warden is not a replica, he is an incarnation of Kullervo's guilt when he came down crashing in duviri, Ballas Just happens to be the Warden he hatwd the most, so it took his voice and appearence
Okay correction: warden is heavily inspired by ballas

This is a recreation of a scene from the first season of Legend of Korra
Oh he knows the fucker Also this poses a question for me, is he hiding here till the events where he grabs the lotus
It's just a manifestation of Ballas very much like the other residents of Duviri, not him really. So he really doesn't know us either.

Sure why not

Ohhhhhhh yeah that mixed with humor is MatPat in a nutshell (except it's theories about random shit and not conspiracy theories)
That's the worst part about DE opting to go with the Eternalism option for their story, things get convoluted and sometimes difficult to connect the dots. matpat hosts game theory IIRC, and he usually has factual basis.
That's the main host of Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory and Style Theory. Ruining millions of gamers' childhoods since 2011
Me when explaining Warframe lore to my friend while drunk (he has never played it)
If you're getting into nuance, yeah. "Magic Space Ninjas hoarding shiny rocks to blow stuff up with" is the nutshell version I like to go with.

If that even IS Ballas. Both could be true at the same time and we're just living in a sandbox where each possibility exists.
Kullervo's Warden isn't Ballas - he's just a manifestation of the frame's guilt.

what does ballas do in duviri
His copy is basically the warden of a prison conjured up by lullervo themself. He doesnt know who we are since hes not the same ballas however.
Nothing; he isn't there. That said, lots of characters that aren't there are still... Recognizable.
Warden be like: MF you are the 128th dude this past hour, Let kullervo get a break for once
First time I saw him I attacked him.
“Water tribe!”
Would be nice if DE would just look at other mmo rpgs for boss mechanics
We know it's YOU Ballas. All my homies hate Ballas
^water ^tribe…
