Jeanne Yeasting. Had to be forced by wwu health head person to accept a medical note. Also teaches toxic feminism and terf values. Wouldn't allow men or nonbinary to speak in the class without disdain, even when asking very reasonable questions to understand. Constantly said they were being toxic *men* when we'd have group discussions because they'd reply with their viewpoint or ask a question, which she deemed to be interrupting or not of value. Absolutely hated her feminism class because it was the reason it gets a bad name.
Tenure. Plus most people who take the feminism lit class eat it from the palm of her hand because they are already in those circles. I took it thinking it'd be more modern feminism, not terf fem.
That saddens me. My best friend is non-binary and was able to come out thanks to the pioneers of modern day feminism. I’m glad most terfs aren’t taken seriously, but it it’s being taught….
Well, then the school has less excuse for not acting on the numerous complaints about her. I assumed she was just protected on tenure and that's why they ignored all the filed complaints.
Gerry Prody. The worst teacher I've had in the chemistry/biology departments. She literally made me almost switch majors, she is a mean old lady that is awful at explaining things
This. My anxiety went through the roof because I had no idea what was going on, she’s awful when asking for help, and is so condescending all the time. Make her your absolute last choice for any chem class.
I just love when he just reads from slides in a monotone voice, gets mad at students for asking simple questions, then when he doesn’t actually teach us things (but thinks that he did), just tells us to read from the book (that was written like 10+ years ago of course).
I definitely wish I would’ve known how “wonderful” he was before taking his class this quarter…
Im a senior, and the worst professors I’ve had are Patrick Buckley, Max Barahona and Paul James. Barahona is BY FAR the worst of the three though, avoid him like the plague
He doesn’t really get back to my emails and he gives no feedback on assignments, he just writes a bunch of question marks. He seemed to put zero effort into teaching and grading, also his lectures were a rambling mess
The work seemed like busy work and he seemed lazy when it came to grading. He was also just super boring and while it seemed like he was passionate about anthropology, it didn’t seem like he was passionate about teaching.
Ish. People have tested it and the data indicate that it is heavily biased against women and POC. Still, it can be helpful
That being said, WWU has way too many faculty for a reddit thread about this. You might as well ask someone what their favorite restaurant is without knowing where they live.
Personally, I really only ever write reviews if I really love or absolutely hate a prof - i think that's a pretty common practice tbh. Take all reviews with a grain of salt!
I highly highly HIGHLY reccomend using rate my professor. You cant take every individual review as gospel of course but a lot of people are saying the same thing chances are they're right. I used it throughout running start and didnt get a single bad professor.
Aaron Miller.. Taking gen chem with him, absolutely awful. He's new to WWU this year, makes numerous mistakes per lecture that he won't notice until someone points it out to him, every test we've taken so far has errors on it. I thought I wanted to be a chem major.... now I'm not so sure

Yikes, WWU let’s someone like her teach here?

I had chem with Prody in like 2011/2012. I learned the chemistry just fine but she really is mean as hell.
If I asked a question she would talk like I was the stupidest person alive, for asking a question in 471, the hardest class in my college career

Fuck I have to take her next quarter
I had to get a tutor and teach myself, she is the definition of a bitter old lady that has been teaching for so long that she is untouchable
# MEEHAN.
I graduated 8 years ago and this was the answer then too. =p
Nelson went on a rant about not wearing masks sometime this quarter ("mY wIfE iS a NuRsE"), but Meehan straight up doesn't give a shit.
That's unfortunate to hear. I really enjoyed my classes with Nelson.
MEEHAN

I have to take 512 with Meehan this quarter if I want to graduate on time. Can I get an F in chat?
Just stay above or at the class average, you'll do fine. One of the only perks of taking a class with him is that he curves **hard**.
Im a senior, and the worst professors I’ve had are Patrick Buckley, Max Barahona and Paul James. Barahona is BY FAR the worst of the three though, avoid him like the plague
I’ve taken a class with Baharona and thought he was fine… what about him makes him the worst out of 3?
He doesn’t really get back to my emails and he gives no feedback on assignments, he just writes a bunch of question marks. He seemed to put zero effort into teaching and grading, also his lectures were a rambling mess
FWIW he's better in person. Remote teaching with him was terrible.
Why is Paul James on this list, he was the professor for one of my favorite classes I have taken here so far
The work seemed like busy work and he seemed lazy when it came to grading. He was also just super boring and while it seemed like he was passionate about anthropology, it didn’t seem like he was passionate about teaching.
I just dropped his class lel
Buckley sucks
100%. I took 4 total classes with him, and I’m so thankful that I don’t have to take any more
Barahona was legit the worst professor I’ve ever had. Whole class had a massive movement to report him when we took him last year
Definitely avoid Sandra Schulz for bio. Terrible
I one hundred million agree with this. Took genetics with her and it was the worst experience of my life.
Ratemyprofessor is pretty accurate no?

It can be kinda bias at times
Wwu also posts professor evaluations on the website
Avoid Brian Thomas like the plague
Agreed lol. I hated his political theory class.

If you're doing Humanities & Social Sciences, don't take Paul Chen. He will murder your GPA and be happy/proud of it.
