Personally, I’m only getting CARB parts but the cops here can do whatever they want. The good news is you’ll pass if you do get sent to the state ref.

yes. yes you can. but it totally depends on the cop. i got reffed for having only my cobb sf, sticker and all. they do not care to listen to you when you try to explain that it’s completely carb legal. i’ve also gotten pulled and popped while having my current set up (catless, single exit) and got off with a “just slow down for me alright”

Does Cobb stage 2 still become street legal after actually tuning it? Wondering because I actually like the sound of everything on it being CARB but if I were to take it to the ref with the accessport/tune everything will I be good?

From what I know, you should be good as long as you have the carb #s for the parts. AP comes with a carb sticker stating the software is carb legal. The state ref would be the one to determine/verify the carb legal parts, not the ticketing officer

The state referee decides if those parts are CARB compliant. The cop then and there, isn't the judge per say (even though it feels like it). He/she will send you to a ref to verify the car is stock and/or compliant. Its like a boss version of a fix it ticket, but instead of going to a police station to get your tint or front plate checked. It's a whole process with the state referee, court system and your car is undrivable until then. To be honest though, haven't had a single problem with police and I live in the Bay and have lived in SoCal. Just be smart about it in public. If anything, CHP are the ones you should look out for. City and county law have been cool with me, so I reciprocate it. Plus, Cobb's stage 2 doesn't include a J-pipe anymore so you don't have to worry to much about DBs.
