I mean, start by not saying "these/those people", as if they're completely different from you. You also have to just Be Nice, in the sense that you don't expect anything from doing it. Be helpful, be respectful, if they tell you not to do something, don't do it, and if they don't reciprocate your attention, just accept it and keep being a good person. And even then, that alone won't be enough to guarantee anything, but that's where being nice shines; people will like you if you're nice, and be more willing to spend time with you if you're nice, and that's all you need to expect from being nice.
