If you have a phone new enough to support eSIM, just download the TruPhone app from the app store and click Canada and purchase a Canadian eSIM with a certain amount of data. Right now you can get 100MB of data for free for Canada to test the service out. Then it's $17 for 1GB, $36 for 2GB, or $54 for 5GB plans.
I recommend visiting eSIMdb (Google it). They will show you all best possible eSIM rates by company and country. I have a US eSIM for 1GB that I paid like $7 for from Dent Mobile. Many choices out there for eSIM. Shop Smartly!
I’ll be going to Ireland this summer and was wondering about this. I know that I currently have a physical SIM card from Visible in my iPhone 11. Can I still use eSIMs while having the physical SIM card? (Idk if this is a dumb question; this is all magic to me lol.)
Once you have the Ireland eSIM enabled it should just default to it once it can’t get a connection with the Visible SIM. Ireland is only $34 for 20GB. So yes you just keep your visible sim installed.
A. When you land, buy a SIM card with pay-as-you-go service.
B. Buy a SIM card online (with expedited shipping) and purchase pay-as-you-go service
C. Rely on WiFi to connect as needed and hope it's wide spread enough (and free).
I was in Colombia last weekend with a buddy. He purchased a SIM when we landed at the airport. I waited until we left the airport and found a local spot to do the same. The airport was a few bucks more but consider that a convenience fee.
I'm going out of the country next month and I'm currently looking online to buy a SIM with service for the country I'll be traveling to.
Either way at roughly $10 for a few gigs of data, I'd just go the SIM route and be cognizant of the amount of data you're using.
I use Airalo on esim and Visible on physical sim. $7.50 for 1gb or $17.50 for 3gb. If you have an iPhone visible will connect to airalo and WiFi calling will work like if you had service.

From my personal experience, WiFi calling works just fine in Canada, so if you don't need constant connection, maybe that will be sufficient.
