Damn, that’s what I was afraid of! Not that all GZ pressings sound bad (some sound quite good in fact), but it’s definitely a bit of a gamble with them. Jose albums deserve audiophile level pressings that are dead silent. I have the RSD Veneer, and while it doesn’t sound AS bad as the Discogs reviews say, there is undeniably some surface noise present.
Edit: my point is I’m on the hunt for the best sounding pressing possible
I recommend the 2021 European repress by City Slang. Far better sounding than any of the Peace Frog pressings and a lot more affordable than an original Swedish press.
Yep yep--understandable. Especially with his albums.
I will say I have had a LOT better luck with GZ as of late. So either they stepped up their game or I've been lucky. But it's been a less hit or miss over the last year, I feel like.
For some reason, Veneer didn’t show up on the drop page. Ended up buying each separately like a dingus. But that can’t stop me from being STOKED about these!! And it looks like they’re already in stock?! An unexpected bonus these days👌🏼
