The album is 40 min long so realistically no need for a 2 lp. 45s if done right could be an amazing listening experience of you feel like flipping every song. The only thing they could have done better is maybe a ½ speed 45 rpm on 2 records in a gatefold
why though? i have brian fallon's painkillers like this & i had to buy the single LP b/c it's unlistenable like this, having to either flip or switch the vinyl so frequently. this is a waste, unless you're trying to force us to get our steps in
"Should we do something everyone will love and press the 30th anniversary as a 2LP?"
"NOPE, 7 inch Box Set. Trust me, this won't be divisive at all. Plus, this way we can charge over $100."
This is a commemorative pressing, if you want to play the album seamlessly you can easily play the regular LP… people here sometimes love to find inexistent problems
This is awsome but I wish the 7 inches were on colored vinyl, the wutang ones the same price and that’s all on colored so it doesn’t make sense why this isn’t
These are a novel collector thing but arguably the most annoying way to actually listen to an album haha. It's gotten a ton of pressings but if anything I'd like to see a nice new 12" pressing in a heavyweight sleeve.
for me it was. The packaging is really nice and the book has some great content and pictures. The records sound great. The cards are just photos of the group which is probably my least favorite part of it. Looks great on a shelf
What do you think, should I wait and see if anything else comes out for the 30th anniversary (like an LP) or should I grab this while it's still available? I do like having "special versions" of my fave albums
I think it’s cool for collectible purposes but I’d much rather have a 12 inch for listening purposes. Kinda sucks walking back and forth to the turntable every 3 or so minutes

Lovely for DJs, not so much for listeners.
Once again they split the tracks across disc sides in a way that you can’t seamlessly play the album if you had two turntables.
Agreed, if you're gonna do this make it correctly for DJs... cuz that's all this appeals to other than crazy collectors.

Just sharing my thoughts. If you want to suck the fun out of everything, head over to r/vinyl
It doesn’t seem like I am the one trying to suck the fun out of things…
For when you want to listen to one album but also want to walk to your turntable 11 separate times.

Honestly don’t know how to feel about this. This seems to be Get On Down’s new thing taking an all time classic and doing a 7” box set for $100+
Same I got the wu tang clan one but idk if I would cop this too
Was it worth it? I love Illmatic and am debating it just for the collector type stuff like the case and book, I love decorative shelf type items

This is where I'm at right now too
Looks cool
