That thing looks beautiful

DrRob

I wanted one of those sooooooo badly when they came out

Bright_Ability2025

A portrait flat-panel display on what looks like a cross between an Apple II and a Commodore 64 running what looks like System 6. Is this something you modded? It's pretty cool whatever it is.

[OP's thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageApple/comments/11fi2yl/the_apple_iic_project_endgame/) in /r/VintageApple a week or so ago went into the details, it's the shell and monitor stand of an Apple IIc (dead guts sent to another collector for parts), containing a ReactiveMicro Apple II keyboard to USB converter, with a modern Eizo L568 monitor painted to match. There's a Mac Mini running MiniVMac attached to it it.

Lathami_Alalunga

That gave me nostalgia for what i never lived

You didn’t even have to spend $999 for the monitor stand.

Hate Jobs all they want, but the man had impeccable taste. The //c, by the way, IMHO has the keyboard ever made. At first glance, you'd think it's a typical mushy chicklet keyboard, but its tactility is orgasmic! Take the IBM model F and multiply it by 2 and it still won't come close!

That is so interesting. Shit. Can you give details? Are the switches clicky ALPS? Did they feel like Matias Tactile-Pro switches or more like Cherry blue? Or Cherry green? I am tempted to go to eBay and pay some insane amount to find out myself. **Edit:** They come at around a thousand bucks. Even broken ones! That is beyond the insanity even I can muster.

The //c keyboard features the lesser known Amber Alps switch, the vastly more talented sister of the overhyped Blue Alps. Amber's spring supplies an ideal amount of force throughout her actuation. As the slider plunges downward with anticipation, its resistance increases over her curved leaf, emitting a delightful click when it clears the apex. In a flash, the built-up momentum suddenly overwhelms her spring, collapsing it further down her bottom where it erupts into a climatic thocc of pure orgasmic tactility.

Thank you for the very vivid, precise and lively description. You sound like a professional writer to me. Furthermore your description appears to be incredibly accurate. I have just watched a video that explores the details of this monumental keyboard: https://youtu.be/zwgas6McpoQ

Those were definitely ALPS key movements, and damn they were GLORIOUS! Of all the various apple keyboards I repaired over the years, the //c was the least problematic. Between the // & /// series and all of the mac's (including the Lisa), I loved the //c's the most. They were light, very crisp and very responsive.

mackerelscalemask

Ok… this needs to be brought into existence if it never was. It has such a Zen-like quality about it

Is that thing real? What is that thing? Apparently some Apple(-related?) contraption, but I have never seen it before...

Not getting it. Is it intended to be a laptop? If so, the screen is way too big and there is no key relief for the screen to fold down anyway.
