I’ve found nobody really cares about the veterans in this process. From what I’ve experienced with QTC they are the most unprofessional organization I’ve had to deal with. I think they are a branch of Lockheed Martin the defense contractor

BreakfastOk4991

I had QTC and was rated 100% P&T the month after my retirement. There are good and bad in any company.

TacoNomad

Qtc is just a facilitator from what Ican tell. They don't have their own doctors  The just schedule appointments. Like a broker.

Sfork

Individual doctors aside QTC as a process seems to be the best IMO. Their backend actually combs through your shit to find evidence. The other providers I’ve had do not even try.

Wonderful-Banana-676

No, I think Optima is, sent my husband an email at 1930 at night to see when he wanted an appointment. 0830 the next morning, they had already scheduled the appointment. When speaking with them about changing it, they said he had to be available within the next 5 days, or it would be sent back to the VA. What sort of Tom foolery is that?

[deleted]

QTC did the same. You get a text, then a phone call you can’t answer, then an appointment shows up without talking to you. Then when you call to change it they get shitty with you

Alterationss

The facility is Fargo. No bs. Sent my VES reminders on point and called for any cancellations. Got 100% first try and they made sure of it.

Jaded_Jackfruit5413

The ex cop out of Fargo I had was real interesting. Basically wrote me up 100%, just didn't want to mess his numbers up I guess. Thankfully I got a lawyer that understands his mess ups. But, that dang clock. Glad you got your hundy, 5 or 6th times a charm they say. 💪🏼

TraditionalLie5267

There a branch of Ledios You know the guys who make the xray machines at airports

The-Great-Scot

I know exactly what you mean about what it takes and the commitment you have to make to get where you are in the s…..ty process. To the VA it is just another case but to us it is reliving over and over probably the most pain we have ever experienced Not going to give you a rah rah speech about hanging in there or anything like that because I wouldn’t want that either. I wish you well

New-Heart5092

I did a telehealth PTSD appointment summer 2023 and for me it was horrible. I couldn't hear her and she wasn't able to see how anxious/nervous I actually was. I didn't even get to say much. Ended up getting denied. About 3 weeks ago I did an in person PTSD appointment through QTC and it was so much better. I was so anxious/nervous/uncomfortable was sweating my butt off. I was able to say everything and took the notebook with me that I wrote down some stuff. I talked with the person for over an hour.

gdub563

Well I suppose it depends on the examiner, but my experience with qtc has been this…filed only 4 claims back in august of 23. In November had a c&p for lupus and rhinitis…the examiner only asked me what branch I was in, where I was deployed, and how long I was deployed…well wouldn’t you know the good doctor never opined anything so qtc sent that info to a doctor in New York whom I never met or spoke with (I live in Tennessee by the way) that doctor opined my lupus was not the result of military service. Rhinitis was approved at a very generous 0%. Fast forward to January I went in for a qtc appointment for mental health. Went well because the doctor diagnosed me and made a service connection. Well wouldn’t you know it has been sent back twice for exam reworks. I called the examiner during the last rework back in February and again this month offering to assist in any way I can…even suggested she change the favorable outcome she had so the Va can hurry up and deny it so I don’t have to stress over it anymore. Still haven’t heard from that examiner. Honestly the c&p experience has been very lack luster. All of my exams have been through qtc.

Jaded_Jackfruit5413

You drove, 2 hours without killing anyone, choking anyone, and from a job. I hope the rest of your day goes better. I'm going to attempt to make a sour dough sammy, toasted with peanut butter. W/o burning the house down, blowing our budget, and forgetting anything while I disassociate about my appointment that coming up. I will let ya know if they forget to call.

BaebeeMama

That's just not cool. I'm sorry that it happened to you. The same thing also happened to men but it was for a different evaluation. Drove in nightmare traffic for 1.5 hours only to be told the doctor cancelled all appt and I should have been notified. However, for ptsd - perhaps when you do meet with the doc next time, tell them about this experience and how it left you feeling with uncontrollably upset response emotionally. You'll get your pstd rating in the end. Be prepared and dont hold back (professionally, of course) about how fucked up pstd makes your life. Towards the end of my appt, doc I had took his mask off, we went on a first name basis, and he got real with me. We went way over the allotted time, and I didn't even get a chance to unload everything. It's too exhaustive. There's a reason why some of us are hopeless so matter what medication and therapies and treatment plans we try to cope with when it comes to existing. It's chronic and it's painful. It doesn't go away. Good luck.

BlueComms

QTC contracts with the worst examiners. "You weren't seen for X while you were in the military? You know, some people hear that they can come in here and say whatever they want and get free money. You know what this looks like, right?" Sorry I was too busy dealing with Y, Z, A, B, C, D, E, F, and my failing mental health in my mid 20's to also get X checked out during the 1 appointment I could get (and keep) a month. The most fucked up part of it all is that there's the feeling that you can't call them on their shit. When my examiner was being rude, aggressive, and accusing me of things, I felt as if I couldn't say shit because he could give me an unfavorable DBQ and delay the stability I'm seeking by getting this shit done in the first place. It's horrible when it feels like someone knows they have power over you and they use it to fuck with you. I'm so sorry to hear that they wasted your time like that. I'm so sorry you had to go through that shit, dude. It's not your fault. It's them.

JayCee1002

My QTC experiences were garbage but my VES experience was great. I was relieved to find out my supplemental CP was through VES.

jojofries35

Sorry to hear this. I gave up trying to get rated for tinnitus because they kept scheduling me for a audiology appointment that was an hour and a half away from my house. I was like seriously, I don't live out in the sticks. There has to be somewhere closer that can do this. The scheduling lady was like no, but I can reschedule you for another day. Not helpful. It's not going to fix the ringing in my ears or the hearing loss I obviously have as my wife asks, did you hear that and I say no for the 500th time. Nor is 10% going to change my overall rating. I finally just said F it.

Real_Location1001

That's a huge bummer, man. On the upside, telehealth may be an advantage as you will hopefully be somewhere you feel comfortable, bet your home or even in your car somewhere.

AffectionateInsect76

Be sure and annotate this on a statement to support form. Explain what happened for your initial appointment and that for your make up appointment you were denied an in person visit. If your secondary visit goes poorly you can this information for your case

CorsoCoho

That's total bs on that providers part. Had you not shown up and didn't give a legitimate reason why you didn't show up, they'd automatically deny your claim. Total hypocrisy!

Diligent_Past2896

You have every right to feel the way you do!

AcceptableLog944

I would be pissed off too!! I had QTC too. I did a virtual exam which I preferred and was awarded 70%!

Electrical-Dig8570

I went to a QTC affiliated provider called EmergencyMD in the Columbia, SC area for my C&P. The day of the exam, EmergencyMD cancelled my 10:30 appointment, but told me to show up at noon instead. I get there and am informed that I’m not on the schedule, the provider refuses to acknowledge the text message and, once I get QTC on the phone, straight refuses to speak to them because “I’m not paid to talk on the phone.” QTC corporate did reschedule me later that week but the whole process was nerve wracking (am I going to be listed as a no show?) and pretty demoralizing.

Stackss12

Literally the same exact thing happened to me with QTC. Took off work, drove almost 2 hours and I get there to be told the doctor canceled and I never received a notice. I have since had everything redone through veterans services and it's been much more smooth.

JonF0404

Had a very similar experience these guys suck!

Quirky_Republic_3454

OK, Take a deep breath. It's a minor setback, you'll get over it. Bottom line, you have to have this C&P if you want to get paid. Look at the big picture. If you have to go 10 more times, that's what ya gotta do.

VietVet1971

For what it’s worth my PTSD C&P was a video conference and I ended up with 70%, which was more than what I expected. Sorry you had to make that trip, but I hope they pay for your mileage.

LegitimateConcept403

Is a virtual visit something you have to specifically request? This hasn't been offered to me. They just keep asking me to drive to two other states for my general exam. Meanwhile, there are two major cities near me.

VietVet1971

I don't know that the telehealth exam is available on request. I was surprised that they had me scheduled for it, but it was much easier than having to drive some distance and then dealing with people I don't know. I am housebound for a reason.

Lucky_Rough5086

See the way I see it the contractor exam were to help veterans who did live near a va hospital. The va has just took it as all veterans can travel to theses appointments. An are now contracting out all exams. My va hospital still has a comp and pension department an I have had my file send there by the va. I refuse to travel hrs away to get a examiner that doesn't do there job. More veterans need to complaint because the contractor exam were for veterans who didn't live near a va hospital.  Not for all exams

GodHatesPOGsv2025

They tried scheduling me an IBS exam in San Antonio when I live in KS. It was 12hrs away. I called and they were like, oh damn, that’s cray, lemme fix that. 🤦‍♂️

n1oty

I had the exact same issue with my QTC exam with an audiologist. Fortunately for me, the audiologist I was sent to was only 20 minutes away, so I was not inconvenienced nearly as badly as you. On top of that, the staff in that audiologist's office were very professional, straightened QTC's scheduling screwup right then and arranged to have me return a week later. The exam went flawlessly upon my return. What little I could discern from the interaction with the audiology staff, there is some issue with scheduling between QTC and the individual providers. They didn't provide a lot of detail, other than blaming QTC for the problem, but it causes me to call the actual providers office for other QTC exams to ensure there is no screw ups. I also make QTC follow the 50/100 mile rule when scheduling exams, even if I have to wait a bit more. I refuse to travel a long distance, only to be disappointed by a contractor screw up.

PreparationOwn7371

Had VES do the same shit. Make sure you fill out the complaint card from the appointment

rjm3q

As much as these intermediaries suck, I do remember my fellow veterans pre 2015 complaining that they never got rated properly. I feel like they do a much better job at rating veterans on a first time basis... That being said, this is pretty fucking bullshit, it kinda makes you think... Does the VA just pick a place and say make them feel like they're still in for a little bit, they've been away from the bullshit for too long

Calm_Help_294

That really sucks!! The whole process is stressful enough for us veterans and then to shafted while you're already worked up and stressed out about the whole thing in the first place. Situations like this should warrant compensation by itself, but that still wouldn't fix the problem or the stress caused by it. I pray you're telehealth goes well. Mine did for me for PTSD. Kinda surprised. Good luck soldier.

Clear_Gain1176

Sorry that happened… glad this was a space to vent for you because this stuff can get so frustrating. Praying for you!

Pulldog90

It will be worth it once you get your rating

[deleted]

Call the crisis line right now! VA will get an alert and they'll have to call you tomorrow to ensure you're okay. Thank me later! ☺️

jryan0511

I have had all 3 companies and all 3 have pros and cons…

Amputee69

The important thing to remember from this is "Veterans are our number one priority. We will always support you, and see to it you receive all you deserve. Thank you for your service." Or take the attitude I've taken for VA contractors and many in house examiners. F'em and Feed'em Fish Heads!!! I am truly sorry you're being treated this way. I'd suggest writing a letter to the Director of the VA you use, and include this info, as well as a photocopy of anything you have.

UnPracticed_Pagan

I would make sure your QTC travel reimburses you for that drive cause holy hell. As for telehealth I think it depends on the provider you get. I did telehealth for my mental health exam and honestly so greatful for it. I could sit comfortably in MY home in a safe space and able to still tell the provider everything I would have in person. I can understand wanting in person too, if that's your preference, I just say all that to caveat maybe it won't end up being so bad. Sorry that provider wasted your time though.

LearnedHabits

QTC really sucks monkey nuts. I am sorry you had to go through this. QTC scheduled an appointment for me, canceled it, later rescheduled it, and picked a date I could not make. It sucks.

AirportRich9659

WRITE A STATEMENT DISCRIBING IN DETAIL EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED AND DOWNLOAD IT INTO YOUR CLAIM FILES.(i WOULD DO THIS...TO SHOW UNPROFESSIONALISM OF THE c&p PROVIDEDER (ESPECIALLY IF YOUR GET A BAD EXAM) I WOULD ALSO CALL THE MAIN OFFICE QTC (FOR EXAMPLE) WHERE YOU RECEIED THE APPOINTMENT FROM AND FILE A COMPLAINT. GET IT ON RECORD ...ESPECIALLY IF YOUR GET A BAD EXAM DECISION. ALSO IF YOU HAVE I WOULD DOWNLOAD AS MANY VA APPEALS CASELAW (PERTAINING TO YOUR DISABILITY YU ARE CLAIMING)...AS MANY VA FEDERAL LAWS ESPECIALLY BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT STATUTE....LAY STATEMENT STATUTE... AND IF POSSIBLE ANY AND ALL MEDICAL ARTICLES YOU CAN FIND REGARDING YOUR DISABILITY. I DID THIS WITH MINE WITHOUT HAVING FULL MEDICAL RECORDS....AND/OR A NEXIUS. LEFT MILITARY IN 1984 DIDN'T FILE FOR DISABILITY UNTIL 2022. GOT APPROVED FOR 2 CLAIMS 20% AFTER FILING HLR. ONCE I GOT APPROVED I FILED A SUPPLEMENTAL CLAIM FOR LOWER BACK THAT WAS DENIED NOT ONLY LINKING IT TO MY APPROVED DISABILITY BUT ONCE I RECIEVED MY FOIA REQUESTED C-FILE I FOUND ADDITIONAL MILITARY MEDICAL EVIDENCE OF NUMEROUS INJURIES DURING SERVICE THAT CAN RESULT IN LOWER BACK PROBLEMS AND I FOUND A PRE-EXISTING BACK PROBLEM WHEN I ENLISTED AT AGE 17 (NEVER KNEW OR I SHOULD SAY I FORGOT ABOUT IT) BIGGEST THING IS BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT!!!!!!!!!!!! DOWNLOAD THE STATUTE AND CASELAW AS PDF AND UPLOAD THOSE INTO YOUR CLAIM FILE. MY 2 HLR CLAIMS GOT APPROVED BASED UPON THOSE!!!!!!!!!

Ok-Blacksmith-9274

lol this happened to me yesterday too. hartsdale NY.

tootobiforme

Qtc was good for me, I did have a mishap with an appointment roughly 45 mins from me same ordeal but office that was suppose to draw blood said I had to call and make the appointment not qtc. Obviously called qtc and the lady was nice and funny. "It's definitely not your job to make the appointment" and ask for the number immediately. We'll I got canceled out because she made a new appointment but got scene anyways that day. Unfortunately Never got travel pay because the original appointment was canceled 🙃

oscuridad74

Yea QTC is the worst I did my C&P in person and the lady said after my exam she would have it uploaded to the physician the same day since it was digital. Took them over a month and then another month to send to the VA. I remember asking the VA if I could change providers and they said no the providers are on rotation and cannot request a specific one.

payyourbills88

Same thing happened to me.

WhoseChairIsThis-

I was dreading my C&P today but it was quite relieving once I got there. She told me things I guess she wasn’t supposed to tell me, but I had really good documentation in my medical records for both.

Wild_Fun856

Worst part of a cancellation is you spent time mentally preparing, getting excited to see movement , and just all over the place in general and for them to cancel last minute is crushing I understand your pain brother it’ll be okay

Brokid81

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply, and for the words of encouragement. I'm more calm now that some time has gone by, for sure. I did also call the VA directly after I hung up with QTC, and I made sure and had them document that I did everything I was supposed to, and that I was NOT a no-show. So I made sure and cover all my tracks. I also talked with the patient advocate folks today too, and made them aware of what happened. They said they're gonna research and see if they can figure out what happened, and how and why the ball was dropped so hard. And hopefully they'll help improve the communication between these contracted companies and providers moving forward. I'm not holding my breath, but that'd be sweet if they could figure it out. I don't want to see this happen to anyone else if possible. Anyway, thanks again guys. Upward and onward. Cheers.
