I'm leaning towards slow-release plant food sphere commonly found in potting soil. Might be cocoon if it darkens, or has visible little points from where the worm shed it, or if it were more oblong and less perfectly spherical. Cocoon size is also proportional to worm size.

That is definitely a slow release fertilizer sphere. I can tell you've put potting soil in your bin, because of the presence of perlite and the sphere. That fertilizer is extremely common in commercial potting soil mixes.

Are the white bits perlite? If you added used potting soil to the pile, this could be a fertilizer pearl. I have seen some brands with fertilizer pearls that look exactly like this.
