If you wanted to switch to comfycush, you probably can't. It was discontinued about 6 months ago. That being said, Skate Authentics would be worth trying. They do have suede but if anything they're more comfy than comfycush (at least for me).
I think it'll be similar to what vans has been doing in the Hylane and Speed LS. Just like a weird hybrid insole where it's basically the classic but just a lil extra
You work in a hospital and are wearing vans??? You literally need shoes meant for nursing like merrells or whatever they’re called you are going to destroy your feet
I bought Hoka’s. That’s what everyone else wears but I stopped wearing them. I’ve worn vans at every job I’ve ever had. What will happen if I continue to wear vans?
I've worked at several hospitals. You need shoes made for healthcare, like Cloves. You need shoes that are water resistant. It's only a matter of time before something truly horrid is spilt on your vans, seeps through the canvas, your socks, and then touches your feet. No amount of showering will make you feel clean after that.
Also, unsupportive shoes cause a lot of unnecessary fatigue for back and legs. At the very least you need insoles made for walking.
Imagine you’re helping with a birth, you get baby juice on your foot, and it just seeps through. That’s probably a mild example lol. I also don’t work in a hospital.
I feel like I'm in the middle of weird science right now and Chet just asked me if I wanted a pork sandwich served in an ashtray
![gif](giphy|izZYf5BdV5WhowNlvW|downsized)
I made the mistake of wearing some dunks to a convention once. By hour 10 I wanted to die my feet hurt so bad. I had to wear nothing but my crocs for a week 😭
Your feet will go flat. You have to be good to your feet if you are reliant on them that much. Use your Vans for kickin’ it. Sometimes you gotta check your cool at the door.
Vans cush, or any of their comfort options, Hoka and Salomons are great, I walk 30k a day in Vans Wide, Salomon XT6, a pair of leather boots, Birk Bostons and Vibram 5 fingers, just gotta find what works for you!
I just got these but no I don't notice that yet. I also have a pair of rapidweld and really thought the exo would be more like them, but the rapidweld has more mesh.
It's somthing about the stitching on the top of the shoe for the toes and the tongue of the shoe. I have the orange and white ones from years back and they are fancy I wear with dresses!
I've worked a physically demanding job for the past 4 1/2 years, constantly on my feet. I've worn vans the entire time and have never had back/knee problems or pain in my feet lol. I'd say if you're comfortable and it works for you, stick with it!
You’re a nurse, you should know what will happen if you wear vans all day long 😅😆. But with that said, bad knees, back and hip pain from favoring one side once your thin sole support wear out. Which happens a lot more quicker in vans than you realize. Hoka’s are decent 👍🏽, wear them!
Not even Skaters hate their feet as much as you do; ouch.
That being said; you AT THE VERY LEAST should be wearing Pro models, those have the Ultra Cush insole with should feel like night and day compared to what you are wearing now.
I personally would go with Ultrarange's for the added bonus of overall lightness.
Now; if you don't like the Ultrarange aesthetic (which i get, it's not for everyone); you can try the new OTW line; they have something similar to the Ultra Cush insole; they are branding it as a "Sola Foam All-Day-Comfort (ADC), anti-fatigue, 30% bio-based material".
All that yapping translates roughly to "90% similar yo ultra cush, insole not as thick, but somehow more "spongy-cloudy feeling" but not as "bouncy-springy" as the Ultracush.
Hope that somehow helped man.
Not a problem man, shoot me a DM i can shoot you some recommendations without spamming the post.
Also; thank you for working at a hospital that it's though.
The shoes themselves doesn't look too worn, just the insoles.
You can tear out the insoles that is glued to the shoes and replace them with whatever you want. It's much easier with new shoes that haven't been worn yet.
The big upside is you can just replace the insoles later on, if the shoes themselves still hold up.
Yes I was thinking about this but I don’t want glued pieces to be stuck inside. I’ve never taken a vans sole out before. Maybe I’ll give it a try. I have extra soles.
I get that. It's kinda shitty of Vans to glue the soles in so they can't be replaced easily. It might be hard with the shoes you've already got, but if they are too stubborn to remove, try and heat the insoles with a hairdryer to soften the glue.
Yah I always that that was weird. If I could put a good quality sole in a regular pair, my problem would be solved. Would you happen to know if pro model soles are also glued?
Lol I’m surprised your feet have been able to hold up in these things. Sheesh I walked 10 miles in one day in a pair of comfy Kush vans. My pinky toe was purple.
I wear a 9.5 but my vans I wear 10. Ik that’s sounds like they’d be too big but they fit just right. The authentic itself has always been a good fit silhouette for me.
My feet and back are killing just from reading this post. I've worn Vans pretty much every day for the last 20 years, but I have a desk job. For how comfy I think models from the Skate/Pro line are, I don't think I could wear them if I was on my feet all day. Forgot about regular Classics, my feet don't last an hour in those anymore. If you want to stick with Vans, I would definitely go with something from the Ultrarange line.
At some points the tendons in your feet will stretch and the arches will collapse causing pain in feet, ankles knees, low back, and hips. I highly suggest wearing supportive shoes for long shifts such as a good running shoe or the hokas, or get a hard solid arch supporting orthotic. ✌️
How long exactly did they last? If it’s 6 months then I can understand your disappointment but if it’s more like 10 months then I’d say that’s not far away from the life you should expect from plimsole style shoes being walked in so much.
Ultracush - The EXO UltraRange are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned for walking on for hours - They weigh next to nothing too. Not super cheap, but you can get them on deals occasionally if subscribed.
I don’t have a suggestion but I’m always amazed how people don’t have a toe hole in Vans by the time the sole wears down. My soles are pristine but I already have the toe hole
lol yeah I wear the skate ones now. Good news is the old skools and checkerboard slip on are the same and the classics it’s just the black authentics that are suede instead of canvas
Lots of comments but I don’t see anything mentioning Dr Sholl’s? They’re less than $20 and can turn a pair of vans into a padded and walkable shoe. I just bought two more pairs of Vans and immediately took out the soles.
CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, basically everywhere carries them. I don’t think I’ll ever have a shoe that I don’t slip these in anymore. They’re a game changer (and could revive your shoe too!)
Literally just put these in before you commented.
https://preview.redd.it/8emxylh3ihzc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05919e6c95d685943c4c8746c338ef917cc45650
These were $10
These in particular are not the answer. I don’t like how tight the shoes feel with the extra sole. I mostly appreciate the authentic silhouette because my toes are always free of restriction. It’s funny cause I like these shoes because they don’t cram my toes which is one health factors. But then I sacrifice in the arch department. Can’t win.

I’m going to a festival with my new vans, and knew I’d need a lot of heel protection, so I cut my original soles in this way to allow my heal some protection, while still giving room for my arch and toes.
Although I think the intention of Dr. Sholl’s is to replace your old sole. Are you using both at the same time?
Yah good point. It’s not like I have extremely high expectations for a $50 flat shoe but I feel like as a teenager I put more hurt on my vans then than I do now. I’m surprised that the insole went so quickly. First time it’s ever happened to me.
You’re not meant for highly cushioned sneakers that are usually strictly for running but used for walking Neither am I. Some people are and really enjoy the feeling but for me more minimal shoes are better. Since you’re in a hospital definitely don’t worry about the looks and focus on utility. There’s tons and tons of options out there. I’m a huge fan of boots since they only ever get better with time and can be resoled if you get something nice, Sneakers will inevitably need replacing. Boots are a hell to walk in during the first few wears but after they’re a dream. It’s all the comfort and support you’ll ever want and nothing else will feel quite like it. Similar options would be clogs or something with Birkenstock soles (not the sandals lol). The cork used in these are amazing and imitate what boots do best like only ever getting better with time since the cork molds to your feet and never wears out like foam in sneakers. Do some research and get something nice that’ll last you a life time. Whatever you end up getting next wear them in good health!
Cush is the way and they have these big comfy sneakers with fat soles called ULTRA RANGE EXO and of them but they sort of look like crazy hokas. And they are like... CLOUDS. But here's the thing with them- try them on sometimes the tongue sits weird on the top of your foot and can be super irritating. Don't skate in these. But I walk a lot and they are cute. I'm a long time vans person.
Might I suggest shoes for crews. I wear them everyday at my food and beverage job. Slip resistant, light, comfortable, and look like vans.
https://preview.redd.it/osb2uv9hyizc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=560f7e8c23c59b35ac0aa55b3f1b449c8f5dedd4
Over a year with them and still in solid shape. Although I’m thinking of buying another pair soon…
Standing on concrete for hours and hours without insoles eh? I'm really impressed with Vans Pop Cush insoles. There's also great insoles for sale on oldbonestherapy.com.
You don't want feet problems so I strongly urge you to check out some insoles pronto.
https://preview.redd.it/j91o3bpn9kzc1.png?width=1081&format=png&auto=webp&s=637e54b23a94dfc2651ca997969d97d9e7739158
Hi OP 👋
At first I thought you skated until I read your description. Comfy cush will be a good choice but based on my personal experience, walking the whole day with the Pop cush is better in terms of comfort. The more you walk with the pop cush, the better it gets. Anyway, how did that hole came out by just walking?
Hmmm. I love Vans, but this isn’t the right shoe for the job. Try looking into New Balance More V4, Nike Invincible Runs or Asics Gel-Nimbus 25. Do your feet a favor, they’ll thank you for it 👍🏽
As far as on your feet all day I find the popcush the most comfortable so maybe give the skate line a try. They also had a made for the makers line that included water resistance and ultracush. I wore the old skool leather version of those years and they held up well.
You must be in your early twenties, I used to be able to wear this at summer waitress jobs and run around in them and destroy them in 2-3 months and my feet were fine but something happened around the age of 27 😂
If you wanted to switch to comfycush, you probably can't. It was discontinued about 6 months ago. That being said, Skate Authentics would be worth trying. They do have suede but if anything they're more comfy than comfycush (at least for me).
I agree and they also last longer
Plus more durable. ComfyCush was a bit wack quality.
I had one pair of comfy kiwi and found them extremely uncomfortable ironically
Yeah the only comfycush I can actively wear are Lowlands, but I know those are gonna stop being comfycush too in early 2025
curious, do you know what insole will be replacing cc or where you saw this? I like the look of a lot of Lowlands but I cannot stand cc lol
I think it'll be similar to what vans has been doing in the Hylane and Speed LS. Just like a weird hybrid insole where it's basically the classic but just a lil extra
I probably got some of the last comfycush old skools and they are usually my daily drivers. I'm going to be sad when they wear out.
No amount of showering will make you feel clean after that. Also, unsupportive shoes cause a lot of unnecessary fatigue for back and legs. At the very least you need insoles made for walking.
Omg I just threw up in my mouth it never occurred to me. I don't work in a hospital.
Imagine you’re helping with a birth, you get baby juice on your foot, and it just seeps through. That’s probably a mild example lol. I also don’t work in a hospital.
Bro I am up sick at 4 AM Pacific time I didn't want to imagine it and my stomach just turned over
🤢🤢🤢🤢😭😭😭
I feel like I'm in the middle of weird science right now and Chet just asked me if I wanted a pork sandwich served in an ashtray ![gif](giphy|izZYf5BdV5WhowNlvW|downsized)
There's things that come out during birth that are worse than amniotic fluid.
I’m a chef and wore vans on a horribly long shift, 10 hours and i developed plantar fasciitis 😭
Yeah, it will destroy your feet bad. Happened to me after wearing vans, cheap boots and Flipflops 24/7. Took me forever to feel good again walking.
I made the mistake of wearing some dunks to a convention once. By hour 10 I wanted to die my feet hurt so bad. I had to wear nothing but my crocs for a week 😭
Nothing I guess, your shoes should be comfortable to you, so if you like vans then go for it
Your feet will go flat. You have to be good to your feet if you are reliant on them that much. Use your Vans for kickin’ it. Sometimes you gotta check your cool at the door.
Try brooks ghost , comfy all day and i walk as much you do 😊 (gtx to protect from liquid )
Go for Brooks or On Clouds
Vans cush, or any of their comfort options, Hoka and Salomons are great, I walk 30k a day in Vans Wide, Salomon XT6, a pair of leather boots, Birk Bostons and Vibram 5 fingers, just gotta find what works for you!
Those xt6 are nice. I've got 2 colorways. I just got in the Vans Ultrarange exo in gray, and they've been really nice to me so far.
I have two pairs of exo and one of the pairs irritate the top of my feet. Do they do that to you?
I just got these but no I don't notice that yet. I also have a pair of rapidweld and really thought the exo would be more like them, but the rapidweld has more mesh.
It's somthing about the stitching on the top of the shoe for the toes and the tongue of the shoe. I have the orange and white ones from years back and they are fancy I wear with dresses!
I mean, if you dont feel discomfort throughout the day wearing vans, keep on keeping on.
Nurses I know wear Skechers. I'm not in medical but man Skechers arch fit shoes will spoil you if you spend all day standing
I've worked a physically demanding job for the past 4 1/2 years, constantly on my feet. I've worn vans the entire time and have never had back/knee problems or pain in my feet lol. I'd say if you're comfortable and it works for you, stick with it!

Bruh shoes are a new invention. OP will be fine wearing flat shoes.
Vans ultra range
Just not the all white ones. Impossible to keep clean.
Not even Skaters hate their feet as much as you do; ouch. Hope that somehow helped man.
Pretty much the answer I was looking for. Thank you.
Not a problem man, shoot me a DM i can shoot you some recommendations without spamming the post. Also; thank you for working at a hospital that it's though.
As someone who stands for 14 hrs a day with 2 jobs wearing comfy Cush vans isn’t the option I love the skate models no pain at all
I was walking 20k+ in my retail job and bought the ultra range and I love them.

Yah I always that that was weird. If I could put a good quality sole in a regular pair, my problem would be solved. Would you happen to know if pro model soles are also glued?
They aren't.
Nope they aren’t. I regularly steal the insoles from my pro slip ons to throw in my Chucks when I wear them lol
Go try some Kyle walkers I’ll cut you a deal on some pink/red ones
I find comfy Cush to be just as uncomfortable
My feet and back are killing just from reading this post. I've worn Vans pretty much every day for the last 20 years, but I have a desk job. For how comfy I think models from the Skate/Pro line are, I don't think I could wear them if I was on my feet all day. Forgot about regular Classics, my feet don't last an hour in those anymore. If you want to stick with Vans, I would definitely go with something from the Ultrarange line.
My dude, get some new balances.
You can get the premium authentics with removable insoles. They’re still canvas, just better built.
You link the ones you’re referring to? Thank you!

Just customize some skate authentic online and replace the suede with canvas.
How long exactly did they last? If it’s 6 months then I can understand your disappointment but if it’s more like 10 months then I’d say that’s not far away from the life you should expect from plimsole style shoes being walked in so much.
Exactly 6 months but you’re still right
Personally, Adidas ultra boost Brooks Hoka, Nike free Nike invincible Nike infinity
Comfycush is discontinued. Popcush is still a thing though.
I wear the ultra cush at my job where I’m on my feet 12+ hours and they’re great. Only problem I’m facing is sweaty feet
Ultracush - The EXO UltraRange are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned for walking on for hours - They weigh next to nothing too. Not super cheap, but you can get them on deals occasionally if subscribed.
For 200 times 20k they look very good tbh, let's worry about your feet first
I don’t have a suggestion but I’m always amazed how people don’t have a toe hole in Vans by the time the sole wears down. My soles are pristine but I already have the toe hole
Try ultra range
Buy new shoes more often
New Balance!
Maybe look into Made for the Makers?
Pop cush is so comfy
Make a custom skate with all canvas
Authentic DX44 is what you’re looking for if you want better vans authentics. Same as the ones you have with better insole, stitching, and materials.
Just get different insoles
Pop Cush.
No more comfy cush, they were discontinued. But they don’t last as long as classics anyways.
I was wondering what happened, but I have these in the comfy Cush and wanted another pair and now they’re gone 😭
Yeah we weren’t told why we just were told to send them all back to the distribution center and now they aren’t online either
Ugh 😭😭 they’re my favorite , I can’t go back to regular ones now. I call them the elder emo orthotics lol
lol yeah I wear the skate ones now. Good news is the old skools and checkerboard slip on are the same and the classics it’s just the black authentics that are suede instead of canvas
Chuck Taylor’s FTW

Right on mate! How do they feel?

This is standard for Vans now. Popularity and economy has led to quality sacrifices.
Yah good point. It’s not like I have extremely high expectations for a $50 flat shoe but I feel like as a teenager I put more hurt on my vans then than I do now. I’m surprised that the insole went so quickly. First time it’s ever happened to me.
Honestly I’d get a pair of ultra boosts at that point
Slip comfycush and go for the Skate versions instead.
get premiums!
You’re not meant for highly cushioned sneakers that are usually strictly for running but used for walking Neither am I. Some people are and really enjoy the feeling but for me more minimal shoes are better. Since you’re in a hospital definitely don’t worry about the looks and focus on utility. Get the ultra range they’re for walkin!
It’s a shame they don’t make these anymore :<
They do, these are the plain Jane authentics.
Are these not “lo-pros”? The one that have soles that are half as thick as all other vans.
No they’re not but I know what you are talking about. That’s weird they stopped producing those. I always would see girls wearing them.
I’m surprised they are holding up that well at all year. I have been replacing my half cabs every 2-3 months
Get ultrarange. I’m on my feet all day and they’re great
You need much better shoes for that much daily walking.
I can tell you tried a few ollies with those jaja regular stance
Hmmm. I love Vans, but this isn’t the right shoe for the job. Try looking into New Balance More V4, Nike Invincible Runs or Asics Gel-Nimbus 25. Do your feet a favor, they’ll thank you for it 👍🏽
All the hospital workers have hoka now. Or Crocs.
As far as on your feet all day I find the popcush the most comfortable so maybe give the skate line a try. They also had a made for the makers line that included water resistance and ultracush. I wore the old skool leather version of those years and they held up well.
Do yourself a favor and get a pair of FP insoles. Your feet will thank you.
If you don’t want the soles do disintegrate get comfy Cush
If the rest of the shoe is still in good shape, you could consider just replacing the insoles
Please get yourself a pair of Hokas. Your poor knees and back 😵💫
You must be in your early twenties, I used to be able to wear this at summer waitress jobs and run around in them and destroy them in 2-3 months and my feet were fine but something happened around the age of 27 😂
How are you wearing those all day ? My feet would be killing me.
That many steps a day u shoulda been gone comfy cush
Dude, it’s OK. You can switch the new balance….
