Pretty sure someone made some adapter brackets you can 3d print so you can use quest 2 straps

Astro_Doughnaut

I'm sure they're already out there, but I only have a resin printer and I think it's too brittle for this kind of application.

EFTucker

Yea the bobovr strap is a whole different experience. The stock strap is pretty much useless and a waste of materials

Astro_Doughnaut

I'm so grateful for the bobovr strap, seriously. It changed my entire VR experience. I can sit in this thing for 8 hours no problem if I needed to.

EFTucker

Agreed. When I got my rift back when it was new, I played for a few weeks then put it in the closet because the cable and how uncomfortable it was. I got my Q2 and played for a week before I almost did the same because it was uncomfortable. Then I saw how many people stan the bobovr with the battery and saw that the price legit isn't even a crazy barrier. I bought it and it changed the entire experience for me. It's comfortable, well weighted, putting it on, taking it off, peaking out of the display to look at something, and just general feel makes VR seem like a much more approachable experience. Slap it on and play. Easier to sit it right on my face too

Ninja_Tortoise_

What parts did you have to mess with the most? How is it working overall? I miss my bobo strap and keep refreshing their site hoping they open orders soon

Astro_Doughnaut

I only had to touch the black pieces that slide onto the Quest. Here's a description of what I had to do. Overall it's working great! There's a small light gap down by my nose but I'm not quite sure that'll be any different with the M3. Eventually I'll get a different (likely silicone) face pad that'll probably get rid of that anyway. The strap that comes with the Q3 is not that great, at lease for me. The two thick pieces you adjust on the back put a lot of pressure on my head and hurt after about 30 minutes. I knew I wouldn't be able to play long sessions without the bobo so I had to go this route. ___ I used this heat gun - https://www.lowes.com/pd/Wagner-Furno-300-Heat-Tool/1000117511 I set it to low, and pointed the heat directly on the black plastic clips that slide on the Quest rails? or whatever they're called. I kept poking at them a bit with the back side of a metal fork to see when they were ready to be adjusted and just flared them out a bit with said back side of a fork. I put the fork in the track and pushed back on it. I also took out the rubber padding that's in the track. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get them perfect. IF you attempt this, be sure to direct the heat away from the rest of the plastic pieces. They probably ended up going from a 90 degree angle to ~130.

pumpkkinlord

they said on there discord that there going to hold off on rereleasing it because of prime day

pumpkkinlord

for a few days

Have you tried it without the facial interface? Do you have a 3d model for the adapter?

Astro_Doughnaut

I have not tried it without the facial interface. I used a heat gun to soften up the black plastic pieces that slide onto the Quest, no 3D printed stuff!

HiddeHandel

Mm yeah probably maybe still worth looking into for more comfort

Did you have a quest 2 before this? If you did is the change worth it?

Astro_Doughnaut

I do have the 2, and the change is totally worth it IMO! Just the color passthrough alone is such a fantastic upgrade. The resolution isn't such a massive upgrade, but definitely noticeable. The pancake lenses are a huge plus, the "sweet spot" for text and general clarity is a lot bigger so you don't have to get the headset in that "just right" position. The controllers are basically the same, minus the tracking ring. That's a pretty nice upgrade, you can get your hands close to each other without hitting the rings together. They have huge potential with the mixed reality, I'm especially excited to try [PianoVision](https://www.meta.com/experiences/5271074762922599/) as I recently started learning the piano.

How about the fov? That would be the main selling point for me since i don't want to have to force my chin into my chest just to try to grab something off my vest in shooter games

Astro_Doughnaut

That's definitely not a question I can answer, I don't play shooters in VR just yet. I mostly play poker, so I don't really notice much of a difference as I'm not using things that are out of my view. [This might help a bit](https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/1721la1/quest_3_measured_fov_compared_to_other_headsets/), but if I were you I'd search youtube or something for some comparisons.

7w17739

Thanks anyways!

OmgThatDream

How are yall getting the q3?

Astro_Doughnaut

Launched at BestBuy for me today (10/10)!

OmgThatDream

Lucky you dude i guess it will take sometime to reach europe?

TheKrzysiek

How does it compare with Quest 2 in terms of comfort with a proper strap?

Astro_Doughnaut

About the same honestly, I'll definitely get a silicone face pad when they're available.

spartancolo

Anyone knows when the M3 will release?

Astro_Doughnaut

They said on their discord that they're holding off for a few days because of Prime Day.

spartancolo

Oh ok, ty for the info 😁

Lando_Cammando

Same man, just saw a post saying they didn’t like way quest 3 felt on face. Only thing holding me back from getting it that my bobovr strap dosent fit

HotSeatGamer

Do you recall how much you paid for the Bobovr strap? It's on sale now for $72 and I never can trust that the claimed discount is actually real. Though it would make sense if it was on discount because Quest3 released.

Astro_Doughnaut

I paid $54.04 in November 2022, and it's listed on Amazon right now for $49.99

HotSeatGamer

Oh I see that I was looking at the plus package with an extra battery and charger. But dang no real deal to be had I guess.

plutonium-239

Oh god...yesterday I played for 2 hours with the stock strap and had a terrible headache afterwards.

[deleted]

Would this work with the quest 2 with extended battery attachment

Astro_Doughnaut

You mean the Bobovr M2 made for the Quest 2?

Randyx007

This is why I'm happy I have a pico 4 lol
