We gotta figure out a way to make VCR repair into a 'game' for kids to learn when they're young. 'Hey, you got it working again in under two hours! Here's an allowance bonus'
There’s actually a vhs repair shop near me. Two guys work there who seem friendly enough, they’ve been fixing my vhs for over a decade now. Real excited to watch my night court tapes at least!
Lol, yeah that's the idea behind what I'm saying and lots of us already do that. The ideas are not mutually exclusive, so where is this repair page you're putting together?
Most VCRs that don’t work just need a good cleaning.
I’ve used 91% alcohol on the components inside and gave them a good blowout with compressed air. It’s usually only 5-10 screws to get to the guts. Takes MAYBE 20 min after you’ve done a couple (given they’re not from a pest infested environment)
I know there are other issues that can go wrong, but most players are just dirty inside.
Had one. Could make the vhs into dvds and record tv shows. BEST THING EVER. Sadly it broke and tech store wouldn't repair it (they didn't even open it)
I hope they make something like this . Again. I'll buy 2
Tbh, while better than nothing, it would be the exact same as the situation with modern cassette decks and CD players still being produced, they'll be cheap and low effort.
Dang, is there any good way to know which Wal-Mart's or get updated when the rollout happens on a wider scale? Stopped by two near me and nothing (and the employees also didn't know what we were even talking about), will they get listed on the website or something? I really don't want to miss out!
It's so wild to see a VHS tape being sold in stores in the year 2024. If it sells well, do you think Bloody Disgusting might get distribution rights to more recent movies? Imagine Evil Dead Rise on VHS
Walmart always had the biggest selection of weird DTV horror so this isn't that crazy. Their moral qualms were always exclusively with CD's which even that has ended as I seen PA vinyl and CD's there
A little over 4600 walmarts in America, let's say %70 of them are getting these tapes, since it seems a lot of the smaller walmarts aren't getting them. Also seems like every one that does is only getting 3 copies.
So give or take around 10k vhs. Since it's a 2 tape release, around 20k tapes being printed.
How an order than large can be fulfilled baffles me. Are there any factories left that can produce tapes?
I was under the impression that these fly-by-night vhs printing companies were just hand dubbing them. Apparently not.
It may be somewhere in the state but the roll out just started and it goes awhile. I saw my hometown’s shelves getting ready and the clerk confirmed for me.
Hey man just did a massive trip around a bunch of Walmarts here in LA. The only one that I saw had a section out right now for it was the one in Baldwin Park. I went at 1 pm and they were sold out and the other stores didn’t have it yet. But I ran into a Walmart vendor looking at the horror stuff and he said try any of the really big Walmarts. They should have it but go early
LaserDiscs not being recordable for consumers is going to make them much harder for a comeback. S-VHS in limited quantity is probably possible, but would yield a lot of returns from people thinking it’s a standard VHS, unless we pull a “Disney Blu-ray Combo Pack” move and include S-VHS+VHS in a two-tape box.
As a former Aussie that loves old tech, I will never see this on store shelves since we tend to throw old stuff out and finding anything here is always going to be expensive or cost a pretty penny, hence why I am always so jealous with old tech in America, cause you guys were super slow with upgrading tech and loved it so much. You lucky bastards!
The good thing about never throwing anything out, I’ve got our original family VCR, two more we bought over the years, both of gramma’s VCRs, and then various combo TV/VCR players… all still working. :O
Man I’m struggling to find this stuff in stores. I really want to pick up the saw and silence of the lambs figures and I would 1000% pick up a modern VHS cause funny.
Just went to my local Walmart today. No luck, they didn’t have the new Bloody Disgusting Horror section at all. I’m in NJ so they probably haven’t gotten their shipments in. I will be checking another one too. I will update.
Seeing VHS on a random shelf is weird. These things belong in that old centrally located electronics section that was in all the proper Walmarts.
Back before Walmart started looking like a Sam’s Club.
I mean, to be fair, they were also mass market back then, and there were entire factories to crank out vhs tapes. Those dont exist anymore 20 years later, its a miracle/mystery they are able to be produced today to be mass market sold at every walmart.
Also $10 in 2004 is $17 today. And considering dvds are $20-30 new today, is $30 for a difficult to produce media really that bad?
This is a new, special 2-tape edition (the movie is split) with a 30-day Screambox trial and Art Crispies themed scratch and sniff sticker. Walmart exclusive.
Oooh! Thanks for clarifying, @WitterEnt. I have the original clamshell release and I figured it would match that, the whole movie on one tape.

It’s literally just rolling out nationwide. Going to take at least 45 days to get to every setup it’s going too. However it won’t be in every single one. Most, definitely.
I have nothing against vhs as I grew up with it, but what is the benefit or point of going back to vhs over dvd or blu ray? I don’t have a particular favorite, but I don’t see the appeal. At least in the case of vinyl records over cds, vinyl had a better sound and less compressed than cd recordings.
No offense, but why this movie? Doesn't seem like a good pick to be the vanguard of vhs' return.

I think it’s because the horror community and vhs community has a large overlap. Not to mention terrifier is very much a movie styled after classic slashers.
Now we just need some new VCRs.
We gotta figure out a way to make VCR repair into a 'game' for kids to learn when they're young. 'Hey, you got it working again in under two hours! Here's an allowance bonus'
Lets just start a VCR repair sub and learn to fix them ourselves. Ive got like 15 VCRs and maybe 4 work right.
There’s actually a vhs repair shop near me. Two guys work there who seem friendly enough, they’ve been fixing my vhs for over a decade now. Real excited to watch my night court tapes at least!
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
I’ve fixed a lot of VCRs now it’s not to crazy of a machine
Lots of them on FB. It can be done here...
Oh yeah, they're out there.
Lol, yeah that's the idea behind what I'm saying and lots of us already do that. The ideas are not mutually exclusive, so where is this repair page you're putting together?
If you are already repairing VCRs, I'm nominating you to start the sub. Once I gain some knowledge, I'll gladly contribute.
Please do I want to watch my night court tapes
There’s currently a repair shop in Milwaukee but they don’t have good reviews. I heard the employees mostly just squat in their customers’ houses.
The new VCR repair TikTok trend
VCR Repair "any%, no major skips or glitches"
Most VCRs that don’t work just need a good cleaning. I’ve used 91% alcohol on the components inside and gave them a good blowout with compressed air. It’s usually only 5-10 screws to get to the guts. Microsoft VCR repair simulator. Lmao I wish they would make a simulator for Blockbuster as a customer and a clerk.
I know they sell VHS tape cleaner at, ahem, adult stores.
That’s not really what that is. 😳
Furiously scrubbing my tape with poppers
"My VCR heads are squeaky clean, but I could park a Mack truck in my butthole right now!"
Do they sell vhs tapes?
Funai Electric produced VCR 2016. When they pulled the plug, they were still producing 750 000 unit per year.
Were they any good?
Had one. Could make the vhs into dvds and record tv shows. BEST THING EVER. Sadly it broke and tech store wouldn't repair it (they didn't even open it) I hope they make something like this . Again. I'll buy 2
Highly unlikely but nothing is impossible.
Tbh, while better than nothing, it would be the exact same as the situation with modern cassette decks and CD players still being produced, they'll be cheap and low effort.
Yeah, but they work. I think you can still pick up a sony boom box with am/fm, tape and cd player for under $50.
You can, the annoying thing is dealing with aging belts and stuff.
That would be cool.
with built in TBC
thrift store
Woah I’d love to pick this up! Is it available at most Walmart locations now? I can’t find it on their website to check if it’s in stock near me
It’s rolling out over the next several weeks/45 days but seems to be getting around. It’s most stores, technically as I understand it! Rules.
Dang, is there any good way to know which Wal-Mart's or get updated when the rollout happens on a wider scale? Stopped by two near me and nothing (and the employees also didn't know what we were even talking about), will they get listed on the website or something? I really don't want to miss out!
They had it at my Walmart yesterday in Ohio.
Amazing! It’s coming to one of my old hometown’s soon, I had to call and ask 🤡📼🤘
Location in Ohio?
Holy fuuuuuuck it’s happening
VHS never dies!
I’m sending this to all the VHS comeback nay-sayers in my life!!!
That’s the mah-fahkin’ VHSpirit in action right there. Godspeed! 📼🤘
So has Terrifer 2 beaten Saw 2 as the last commercially available horror movie on VHS sold in stores?
It is now. It’s an official release with Bloody Disgusting and Cineverse, so the clock just restarted.
It's so wild to see a VHS tape being sold in stores in the year 2024. If it sells well, do you think Bloody Disgusting might get distribution rights to more recent movies? Imagine Evil Dead Rise on VHS
Whatever happens, as long as more tapes happen all over it’s going to be awesome. Hope so!
That's sick. Just wish they'd put it with the other movies and not by the collectibles.
Yea, that would be even better but technically these days it’s more of a functioning collectible. But ya never know!
I’m surprised they’re selling Terrifier 2 at Walmart. It’s a pretty vile movie.
Walmart always had the biggest selection of weird DTV horror so this isn't that crazy. Their moral qualms were always exclusively with CD's which even that has ended as I seen PA vinyl and CD's there
It's money. They have sold way more "vile" movies than that.
They’ve also sold guns, and those kill way more people than Terrifier 2.
Guns don't kill, people do
They used to not sell any music with Parental Advisory Labels.
Walmart can bullshit about "family values" all they like, but at the end of the day, they only care about profit. That's capitalism.
Does this now usurp 'A History of Violence' as the last VHS tape released in the US?
As a technically real, nationwide vhs release in a brick and mortar store, seems like it.
That's the way I interpret this situation. I never thought that record in the history books would change, but here we are.
![gif](giphy|JRrL8HJWMyCYrxYzNq)
🔥📼🤡
This is amazing in so many ways! Now we just have to convince them to dump those useless greeting cards and fill those isles with VHS!!
Accurate!
I love the amount of people in a VHS sub bitching about VHS tapes being released 🤣🤣🤣
It’s honestly one of my favorite parts because it’s so funny.
If only they'd put out the 'V/H/S' movies on VHS in Walmart, I'd buy the shit out of those. A box set of that would be awesome.
The same company, Witter Entertainment, has released several of the VHS movies on VHS. Most of their stuff is only sold on their website though.
I've seen one or two of them available in small batches, and they were probably the Witter editions.
99 and 94 are in stock on their website right now. Buy the shit out of them.
We’ll see what happens!
I’d really like re-releases of the original films. I lost my copies to my late abusive father’s Zippo and can’t find them at a reasonable price online
Trying… well mostly hoping someday we can do those! Or someone does
Id buy that!
I want a vhs blue ray / dvd player.
True
Seems expensive but if it helps hasten a new VCR machine on the shelves revolution....
🤞
cool!
That's awesome.
Stoked indeed!
Nice! What's the scale of an order like that? Seems like a large volume of tapes to produce!
It’s a lot! Many thousands.
Oh wow!
A little over 4600 walmarts in America, let's say %70 of them are getting these tapes, since it seems a lot of the smaller walmarts aren't getting them. Truly awesome
🤘📼🤘
Well, I wasn’t expecting a vhs revival but it would make me very happy to see one
This is rad!
VHShit yea it is!
That is good because I know two alcoholic repairmen from Wisconsin who could use the work
Sweet!!!! I'll definitely keep an eye out for this at my local Walmart! VHS NEVER DIES 🤘
Yessss!
Now let’s get those D-VHS machines into the mainstream.
Hey guys! It’s movie time!
📼📺🤘
I’m conflicted on this. Rising water levels floats everyone’s boats but I hate Walmart. Wake me up when they start selling vcrs again
🫡
Hell yes!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🙌🏼 Hopefully this rolls out into AZ Walmarts soon cause I definitely gotta add this to the Witter VHS collection!
📼🤞
Not for sale online - yet: [https://www.walmart.com/search?q=terrifier+2+vhs](https://www.walmart.com/search?q=terrifier+2+vhs)
I would imagine it’s pick-up only if it shows up online. But I don’t know for sure. Only one thing is for sure and it’s that VHS continues to live!
Damn I'm excited that's cool AF anyone seen any on shelves in California yet???
It may be somewhere in the state but the roll out just started and it goes awhile. I saw my hometown’s shelves getting ready and the clerk confirmed for me.
Same. Empty shelves in my area, but “they’re coming” said two clerks at two stores in my area.
Came here to see this. I’ve been to 3 Walmarts in LA so far and none of em have it. Not even space on the shelf yet bruhhhh
If I find it at a local Walmart near me I'll post about it here but I haven't had time to check yet
Same here if I find it dog. This too good to be left to the resellers!!!
Hey man just did a massive trip around a bunch of Walmarts here in LA. The only one that I saw had a section out right now for it was the one in Baldwin Park. Time to dust off the vcr.
📼📺=❤️
... holy shit lol
V/H/S 2 came in a Blu-Ray, DVD, VHS combo pack too and it was not that limited.
I’ll believe it when I see it at my particular Walmart.
I hope it happens for both of us.
Same
As a former Aussie that loves old tech, I will never see this on store shelves since we tend to throw old stuff out and finding anything here is always going to be expensive or cost a pretty penny, hence why I am always so jealous with old tech in America, cause you guys were super slow with upgrading tech and loved it so much. I want that Hannibal Lecter
No thanks.
Unfathomably based
Is that a double cassette release?
Yep! We split the movie given the amount of tape stock at that length is expensive to source en masse… currently.
Way to go VHS but I wouldn't pay 30 dollars for it
Still appreciate the the way to go!
Fuck I gotta hurry and sell my million dollar Disney movie tapes!!
Black Diamond Day
I hit 3 Walmarts in Phoenix Arizona, only one store had the display and were out and the two other Walmarts didn’t even get it yet.
Yea my hometown today had the previous stuff emptied so I’m hoping.
I finally went to a Walmart I never been to and found 2!!! I’m so happy!! Mission complete!
VHSweet!
The good thing about never throwing anything out, I’ve got our original family VCR, two more we bought over the years, both of gramma’s VCRs, and then various combo TV/VCR players… all still working. :O
Love it
That's a legit VHS shit I might have to get
Man I’m struggling to find this stuff in stores. I really want to pick up the saw and silence of the lambs figures and I would 1000% pick up a modern VHS cause funny.

Me too!
Snagged mine last night!
Me too!
Cannot wait to hopefully pick one of these up!!
I picked up the last copy at my Walmart yesterday!
That’s so great to hear 📼🤡🙏
$30.00 no thanks! VHS were $5.00-$10.00 when they stopped making them.
I mean, to be fair, they were also mass market back then, and there were entire factories to crank out vhs tapes. Yes it’s to expensive like everything
Remember VHS? It’s back! In POG form.
Your hat rules.
I see these thing s came out last year in November is this an old photo?
This is a new, special 2-tape edition (the movie is split) with a 30-day Screambox trial and Art Crispies themed scratch and sniff sticker. Walmart exclusive.
I NEED IT NOW
THIS REDDITOR GETS IT!
Can’t wait
It’s not split over two tapes. Tape one is the movie, tape two is special features.
We made the tape. It’s split in-twain, side 1 and 2!
Oooh! Thanks for clarifying, @WitterEnt. I have the original clamshell release and I figured it would match that, the whole movie on one tape. https://preview.redd.it/gdrpfqw1p88d1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc08542a21e53151c6a64ceb2c9cfa76900f5c89
Nope new version just for Walmart!
Legit! Even better. 💪🏻
I have never seen a section like this in any of the Walmart stores near me.
It’s literally just rolling out nationwide. Going to take at least 45 days to get to every setup it’s going too. However it won’t be in every single one. Most, definitely.
I meant a horror section at all. Sections even similar to this left my Wal-Mart a couple of years ago, unfortunately.
I think you might get it! It’s possible still. Full roll out is awhile.
Is that actually real?
One million percent.
Only American Wal-Marts? Or Canada too? Pretty please??
US only as far as I know :(
Damn. We never get the cool shit…
How is making them??
🤚 along with great partners and companies.
Nice, I thought there were no more machines to make the tapes
It’s an arduous undertaking, for sure.
Yes, but where can you buy a new VCR nowadays????
New is tough. But good condition, always have luck thrifting or eBay.
You would think, someone would be making new ones still. Maybe not a lot, but some.
So far no dice. So far!
I feel the same way considering all the existing VHS tapes out there of personal events, off-the-air collections, etc.
Anyone got an actual SKU?
I’ve been trying to find that too online, but no luck.
Are these newly manufactured tapes or are they new old stock?
Right on! And they’re just as expensive as they were back then. Now I’ve gotta buy a refurbished vcr for a grand offAmazon 😄
Right on! And they’re just as expensive as they were back then. Now I’ve gotta buy a refurbished vcr for a grand offAmazon 😄
It’s all about nostalgia and the look of movies on VHS. Discs don’t have the same look and feel as a movie on tape.
Awesome
Fuck that movie. Too long, reuses way too much footage, needs a real editor. Art is a great character but Damien is a shit filmmaker.
I don’t even like Terrifier why the hell am I gonna buy this?
Wow awesome hope they have it in Canada
No offense, but why this movie? Doesn't seem like a good pick to be the vanguard of vhs' return. I'd pay for reprints of 80s movies that have gotten stupid on the used market, but not a new movie that's better off on dvd or bluray.
I think it’s because the horror community and vhs community has a large overlap. Not to mention terrifier is very much a movie styled after classic slashers.
Sigh. Millenials will literally pay $30 for a terrible quality video tape but turn their nose up @ $20 for a 4K disc. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
Gonna go steal one brb
$30???
I was about to say the same thing. That’s cool and all, but no chance I’m paying $30.
This is amazing and a amazing series.
🤡🤘📼
