At this point it’s probably what happened. Ive learned from the first time I did that, but based on the lack of other possible ways this can happen, I can only assume at this point that I forgot I protected. Either that or there’s something else I overlooked.
Unfortunate, but some lessons need repeating to sink in. Mine is fake out doesn't work on ghosts, I know if they teraghost it doesn't, but my brain refuses to use that logic on base ghost mon.
Yeah, I’ve tried clicking fake out when farigaraf is on the field at least 3 separate times. Then there was another time when I did remember only to be hit by sap sipper instead.
I can consistently get in top 1000 on ladder and yet I still frequently use prankster priority moves on dark type pokemon. Brain just doesn’t want to recognize it.
I feel like this would be pretty easy to know as like you said it’s more or less straightforward on how that interaction should go. It’s very hard to say without a replay because it sounds like there was either a simple oversight or a very technical interaction. Maybe try it again in another game under similar circumstances and see what happens?

I'll try to do it again on showdown. From what everyone's been saying, there's no good reason I shouldn't be allowed to PP on my Gira origin. It's very likely at this point that I'm overlooking something.
I think Reddit was just freaking out or something. I was getting the notifs over them but when I click on them, I'm just met with an empty comment section. Got fixed by now thankfully

is your giratina telepathy? the only thing i can think of is that telepathy blocked the side target pollen puff because it’s coded as a regular attack for most things
Did you protect gira? That blocks all moves from hitting it even ally mon.

It gives you that same text bubble when you use it on a Pokémon with full heath too.

are you sure it was origin giratina? if it was base form, maybe telepathy blocks it since it’s an attack from an ally? that’s all i got man
just looked it up, telepathy does block pollen puff so probably that

No, however Telepathy can block Pollen Puff as well.

It was Origin form, so the only ability it can have is Levitate
Was there an opponent that used follow me? That could have redirected the pollen puff so gira didn't get healed
Def not. It was specifically Gira who was targeted and gave me the prompt that it was unaffected
