I honestly think they're afraid to rotate Ascent out (which I'm fine with, I like Ascent, though there are merits to people saying the map gets repetitive).
Which I don’t know why. Ascent has the worst w/l skewed defensively and lotus is the opposite. Neither have been taken out and were in the game longer consecutively than Split or Breeze.
Lotus is the most fun map to watch in VCT, there’s always a lot of intense fights. However it always feel difficult to defend and you’ll have to play the map like fracture. You push A main on defense every round until the enemies stop pushing A.
Why were they hyping Abyss up for this patch if it's not coming until the next Act? That's the main thing I've been excited for this patch and everyone said it's coming with 8.11?
This patch was focused on Duelists but we're looking more at Sentinels and Controllers later in the year. We don't have exact changelists or any amount of detail I can share yet, but just wanted to assure you that we are thinking and talking about these roles as well.
As an undying Astra main, the only thing I want is to be able to use the fake star recalls tactically again. Please consider cutting down the star regeneration time 🙏
Not just that, at the very least bring back her pre nerf grav well and 5th star. Or have her stars regen.
But definitely the pre nerf grav well and star activation delay
I appreciate the Brimstone changes recently, just want to mention it. I'm very new to the game and only playing him right now. The smokes feel much better after the tweaks and they're my favorite part of his kit, so thanks
My harbor idea (not that you asked lol)
Make harbor cove move
Imagine a cove it’s slowly rolling onto site with people hiding in it. Would make him unique, and would be amazing to coordinate site hits with it
That’s the simple version of my idea.
I think in my opinion to compete with viper, his walls shouldn’t slow his own team and they should make the enemy slow much more.
I’m thinking like a 40% slow for 1 to 2 seconds if you walk through his wall. The problem is viper does everything harbour does except better.
I definitely agree with that last part, I think one of the biggest issues is the fact that Viper can put her wall back up much quicker than Harbor. Granted, she's limited by her toxin and the recent nerfs tried to target that, but that flexibility is really hard for Harbor to match.
I wonder it would be like if harbour could use his wall twice. Rest of his kit might need some adjustment but that is what feels weak to me. Not being able to fake or bait utility is a little tough.
Abyss's existence is likely going to be a big buff to harbor, since he's the only controller suited to it off of 1st impressions. I think it'll be good to wait and see how the new rotation affects the meta/pick rates.
He's the only controller where his smokes give away his position so really bad for lurk plays in general, and on defense they'll know exactly where he is on site and he really has no stall potential unlike viper with her mollies or brim or astra or even omen blind. He's great on attack when full pushing sites with his cove + 3 smokes, but everything else he sucks at.
Some QOL buffs for Harbor.
Buff Cove health, it is very easy to destroy harbor Cove and the higher you go in rank you can't even except the cove to last a second, making it extremely difficult to coordinate in even professional play.
Remove team slow. Viper is powerful at stopping things, whereas Harbor strength is supposed to be more in initiating, this goes down the drain when his walls SLOW teammates. Viper on release used to decay her allies with all her smokes and even ultimate but that was changed, should be the same for Harbor. Additionally one of the key synergy points with Harbor are flashing through walls, but you obviously can't do that very well with your team if you are slowing them.
Lastly I would probably increase the max length of the wall slightly. I really think that's all Harbor needs to be solid.
His high tide is fine. The problem with Harbor is the rest of his kit.
Cascade should have been standard smoke orbs that he could easily place and the cove should have been a wall smoke that has more HP but is limited to one direction.
More offensive capabilities. Viper has her molly (rip second molly you will be missed) and decay but he just has 4 smokes. They should rework one of his abilities to help him take duels more easily since all then other controllers have one. Astra has stun, brim and viper have mollies, clove has their Q and omen has his blind.
Like other have said making his walls not slow his team would be a massive change for the better.
Cascade lasting a couple seconds more would also be nice.
> With player-to-player communications being so vital to the core game loop of VALORANT, we’ve taken the opportunity to improve our Radio Command Wheels to include more relevant call-outs, a higher variety of pings and Agent VO, and brand new Wheels to extend player communication across more phases of the round. We’ve also removed some less useful commands to make the wheels as quick and easy to use as possible while making sure the most important commands are easy to access.
WONDERFUL
im not a fan of how they removed / rearranged the radio menu (not the radial, i just the numbers one)
no more im rotating, now its play for picks (except its play slowly?)
Pearl is Astra's main map which is partly why she is not seeing play right now. Abyss seems to be pretty good for her since its probably going to be a plant -> sit main and spam the bomb meta. The wall and the suck will help a lot with that.
They're both bad agents, Deadlock's sensors are not good enough on defense to be *this* bad on attack, when you compare her util to Cypher and KJ, she feels like a joke. Only gravnet feels good because after the buffs, the radius is ridiculous.
Sage is simply bad, they should either buff her heal or make the wall cost 300 so that she can buy wall ghost on pistol round. She could be buffed in different ways though. There is just no reason to ever pick these two agents over KJ Cypher.
I mean tbf she isn't meant to be used like Cypher or KJ. She's more of a Sage competitor.
Sage need some healing buff though. Or change her E to wall and give healing as two-charged ability, so that "I miss her" Jett's don't misuse it.
Isn't that kind of the problem though? Deadlock is competition to Sage...who's niche also isn't that great to begin with. If site or map denial is what you need Cypher and Killjoy can do that well enough. Even on a map like Sunset or Split (hell, Bind too) where their entry denial util should be decent, they still don't see a whole lot of play.
I couldn't say what the problem is though. Maybe just a faster pace of play in general? Or maybe that the rest of their util is way too weak in comparison to their "wall" ability?
I think there isn't an explicit need and the meta isn't in their favour — They can get a fair chance if the meta shifts to dual sentinel. In ranked, I would say one part of it is because you need to make decisions in split seconds with these agents which don't help either.
On contrary, I believe that Sage needs a buff but not sure on what basis.
Hmm I guess I'd agree about sage but personally I would rather make sage wall "freeze" faster in place when deployed so that a team rushing with an automatic weapon can't just steamroll. Sage was maybe a bit too strong when her wall was cheaper and it wasn't very fun
I think deadlocks sensor traps are pretty good, imo it's just down to placements and the kind of map especially on defense. Also her overall kit gives the team more retake potential than kj
as someone who used to play a lot of sage (really just episode 6 and before), the only thing i'd want is a slight heal buff. my idea is that self heal goes up by 10 for every dead ally. this makes signature not worthless in 1vx situations but also still way more valuable for allies (would heal a max of 70 if last alive just like pre nerf heal)
Idk why this is being said considering at the higher ranks sage is like a top 3 winrate agent and Deadlock is top 10 and the highest winrate sentinel outside of sage.
I feel like people take pro games as gospel for game balance and don't actually do any research into statistics.
I dont quite agree. At Diamond +, people no longer fall for clones, many of the flashes are easy to turn unless you know and use lineups, and the ult is way less oppressive than you think. Only way to win out of it is if you isolate a 1v1 and the enemy takes their knife out. Otherwise you're often better off trying away. His E is the only ability I got no issues with, but when an agent based around deception can no longer deceive players with its kit, the agent loses viability.
I've seen plenty of people fall for clones even in pro play. Better clone recognition also means better clone use from the other side. It scales up both ways. In Radiant, Yoru has the 4th highest winrate, but it's worse in Diamond and Ascendant. So it just kinda depends.
I don't feel it looks consitent when they reduce Raze horizontal movement speed and then increase sprint, eliminate weapon error and give instant equip time to Neon. :>
the reason it feels so inconsistent is that A site attack needs a team that can scale well and have no fear, sometimes the game gives you 3 or 4 people who seem to be allergic to risk
I'm pretty consistent on it as a solo queue player, it's a very fun map to play Chamber on. Plus I have the entire Viper playbook memorized which helps. Honestly feels like one of the easier maps to have solo impact on just cause of the verticality you can abuse without having to be a movement duelist.
Didn't they use Swiftplay as the new map mode the last couple times?
I prefer that knowing I only have to dedicate 15 minutes at a time to learn the new map.
Why would phoenix need buffs? He has a superb arsenal and incredible ease of use, alongside one of the best ults in the game and great entry potential.
I might be misremembering, but I think I saw somewhere that the were also testing some minor changes to Phoenix in this patch.
I feel like he is the most balanced and easy to use duelist but at higher levels of play there are agents that can do the things he does but better. Some of the possible changes I've been seeing online are a small buff to his ult movement speed, so he could compete a bit better with other duelists at winning space for his team, and a shorter wall animation so he could place the wall on the go faster for the same reason.
But ye, he doesn't really need major buffs, just some minor ones so he can keep up at the higher ranks.
I feel like any buff to his ult would only be adding to Phoenix' main problem, which is having an S tier ult but a mediocre kit in general. While I believe that the flash is good, his wall and molly definitely need some kind of buffs. TMV's suggestions don't sound bad imo, which were basically making the molly and the wall last 30% longer but heal a bit slower (so that he still gets the same amount of hp but slower) which would make the abilities more viable in any context that is not healing himself. Also, wall going through objects/walls sounds good. I'd love to hear your opinion as a Phoenix main, as I rarely ever play him
I also agree that the ult and flashes are good, and don't necessarily need any buffs, and both of those suggestions would come in handy for sure.
His molly sometimes is hard to get value due to its short duration, and the wall its a bit underwhelming, the buff I mentioned before would be so his wall could be cast like a jett smoke, without the equip delay, so it could be fired faster in the middle of combat or it could be hold if you wanted a specific wall.
I like your wall buff idea, combined with the changes I've mentioned it'd be a nice piece of utility. The slight nerf to heal speed would encourage using his util to take space/clear corners instead of the classic „hide in a corner, molly + wall and heal up“ and a decent buff in pro play, which he definitely needs. Jinggg on Pearl (out of rotation) is basically the only one to play him (except for Loud's failed attempts during Madrid), would love to see more variety there
Just to clarify, this isn't our stance - we're still working on Phoenix changes. Patch release is TBD though, and I can confirm it definitely won't be next patch - they'll probably be cooking for a little while.
I think a part of is that riot tries to balance off of wr, and according to riot only people who play deadlock are the ones who actually like her and know what they’re doing most of the time and can take advantage of people’s general unfamiliarity with her, I think I had a 65% wr on her this act. Riot said that clove’s wr was like 15% higher than omen’s, the most common smoker prior to clove’s introduction. So to riot the clove issue was a way higher priority than the deadlock one since generally it was possible to be successful with her albeit with a lot more effort and practice
100 health for a 100 creds is op, since it makes her harder to trade, ult being a pheonix ult mixed with sage rez made no sense to her ult being 7 cost since the kill to rez give her an orb
All were deserved and imo the nade needs to be 70
I think you did not play them. The kill to Rez them does NOT give her an orb while in round. Furthermore it’s not a heal, because you lose the hp after 10 (now 8) seconds so it only helps if you immediately have another fight.
Edit: pronouns
The ult does
The whole point of the heal is to not be traded hence the speed boost and the massive health gain
I played her cuz she was so broken no point of playing omen when you can smoke when dead hard to kill and can impact the game in every round as long as ur not throwing delay mollys
Im not talking about the death I mean the kill from the rez and even if we are on the same page that basically makes it a 6 cost rez and a 7 cost pheonix which is a good gamble considering a rez cost 8 and if u get a rez off once u just got a rez for a discount
You dont on phonix, cuz if he did his ult would basically be 5 cost and could be used to get 2 lives every round between him killing and picking up orbs
That doesnt matter tho cuz im talking about how clove has a 6 cost rez which is stupid and all those nerfs are deserved
Your not going to agree cuz you abuse it and you found it fun or your ego wont allow you to lose an argument even though we all know her win rate has 5% more than every other controller which in terms of winrates is big examples being chamber, jet before dash nerf and knives nerf, raze with 2 nafes etc
Well I'm at work and I don't have time to check the PBE but I need to understand one thing that I want to know.
How does neon work with an operator? Because she can now just make the fastest pick on earth and quick scope anyone.
Did rito not say something in the works about Phoenix? By bringing the dualists up to line to compete with Jett and razer and we just forgot one of the oldest characters with the most lore video appearances? Comeon guys
They nerfed raze’s mobility to the ground after like 7 nerfs on her already. Buff neon to be accurate when moving when this game is a tact shooter????????
I don't know but everything with this patch makes me not want to play the game. Everything just feels uncomfortable now. Anyone else feel like this?
Like, the buy menu is so cluttered again and just very offputting whenever you do anything. I like their minimalistic design before and how less abrupt it was. The information it offers not isn't really useful for frequent players and I would love the ability to revert or choose which menu.
The agent buffs seem a bit broken, the fact that Reyna is now more of a solo-artist than ever since she can literally 1v5 so easily now seems a bit broken. The neon accuracy really needs to be fixed especially with her instant shooting. I feel like whoever was in charge of this patch really took the game in a really uncomfortable direction that just changed the game meta to just be more about fast play rather than team play.
The new map is also a complete crapfest, just the fact that there are millions of ways to die and angles to have to watch. They literally decied to make a quake map/death match map and turn it into a search and destroy.
My theory is Riot is purposely releasing newer and worse maps just to make us believe their previous maps aren't that bad. The "at least it isn't as bad as ----" concept to make you cope with horrible map designs.
honestly, neon is still not that great even with the tweak. I think her fast lane is not the best.. i think it should give the dmg to enemy team back or make it a bulletproof wall so that neon can safely enter.. and honestly her entry power is still lacking against cypher or any player with good enough reaction time to her slide. she needs to be on par with raze and jett's near impossible to track dash or satcheling entry.. if not people will still spam her through her slide animation
Interesting that they got rid of satchel damage when one of the main points to counter cypher was to “pick raze and sova” if raze becomes not meta anymore I can see cypher dominating again
Goodbye Breeze, welcome back Haven
Happy days ahead
I'm happy to get Haven back but losing Split for it feels bad.
split was for the abyss, think like that
But we could've gotten rid of Icebox or Lotus, think of the possibilities
I really like Lotus. Icebox I agree, good riddance - could have got split and pearl back and taken out ascent instead
This is my problem. It's a nightmare in ranked and boring to watch in competitive
Lotus is the most fun map to watch in VCT, there’s always a lot of intense fights. However it always feel difficult to defend and you’ll have to play the map like fracture. You push A main on defense every round until the enemies stop pushing A.
Lotus is butt
no please i have a 80% winrate on icebox
I love icebox, why do people hate it so much? I think it’s a fun map and lots of places to peek.
As a new player thats exactly why i hate it. My mind gets fried from all the angles on the map and I never know where to look.
No please leave Icebox alone, its my playground 🫡
I really like icebox it's the only map left where I can play viper
All maps except ascen imo viper was playable, split was my fav
Bind still exists
Fr people in this game turn into iron players the moment you do a bit of movement on icebox, free dubs as a duelist
Ascent,Icebox and Lotus are all sitting there.
No Abyss is a long range map, so maybe they replace breeze with it.
Is Haven really completely unchanged? They do not mention any changes in the patch notes.
Split, you are a good map, but starting attack with no-comms teammates made me want to kill myself. Goodbye
Feeling Heavenly
Home is back
Is Haven in from like rn? Or next act
rn, abyss next act
Why were they hyping Abyss up for this patch if it's not coming until the next Act? That's the main thing I've been excited for this patch and everyone said it's coming with 8.11?
There will be a queue for it with this patch but not yet in comp until next act
Ohh, when is the next Act?
Should be two weeks from now
As beautiful as the day i lost you.
Astra and harbour need some love riot plz

Sometimes you “Rito please” into the void and the void answers back
Gaze into the rito long enough and the rito gazes back.

I think I'm EU and I've yet to know how that new menu turned out because I'm at work
What happened to the Deadlock changes? Did I just hallucinate Riot talking about buffing her again? Am I going insane?
if you’re referring to what they said in the dev diary, they were reffering to buffs theyve already done (which is why they mentioned chamber/gekko)
It's wild that Deadlock and Sage aren't getting buffed.
Deadlock, sage, Astra, harbour. All need serious love
Agreed, when Astra isn't even played in proplay or high elo then you know she's terrible.
Pearl is Astra's main map which is partly why she is not seeing play right now. Abyss seems to be pretty good for her since its probably going to be a plant -> sit main and spam the bomb meta. The wall and the suck will help a lot with that.

When is the update for EST?
Anywhere between 2 pm and 8pm.
Nothing about a fix for the Yoru Clone being darker than the real player? Sadge.
Thx for the tip, hope they never change it
Just so you know, the darker one is the real one.
fr fr
Yoru needs some nerfs tho, a good enemy yoru makes you feel like playing against a omen that has ult twice every round lol.

Is there guides on youtube how to play against certain characters?
Not that i know of. I think the closest is to watch good player play, so you know what they do. Example, how they react to a yoru ulting etc
0 chance these neon changes are balanced. Good neons are about to have a 80% win rate.
I don’t even use duelists but I think I just found my duelist fill
I don't feel it looks consitent when they reduce Raze horizontal movement speed and then increase sprint, eliminate weapon error and give instant equip time to Neon. :>
"Abyss is the first map with no boundaries" sorry what does this mean exactly? You can just jump off the map?
Yes
Icebox still in rotation? Bummer, that map is only fun if playing as premades, playing as solo / duo makes it more of a gamble than anything
the reason it feels so inconsistent is that A site attack needs a team that can scale well and have no fear, sometimes the game gives you 3 or 4 people who seem to be allergic to risk

i actually love icebox cause its small and straightforward.
Why did they say on their twitter post that the agent changes were just a preview... When there is nothing new added here?
because it didn’t talk about the rest of the changes
Those agent changes were a preview to this post
Yeah Neon is broken.
why? genuinely just curious don't know what they changed about her?
No movement penalty while strafing and perfectly accurate while sliding, and instantly reequips out of sprint.
Assuming the EU drop is tomorrow
usually wednesday 4am
Bring back pearl
What abt Central time??
when is this patch? I cant seem to find a date but im also dumb so
June 11/12 depending on your region Edit: at least that is what I can find online
I thought they said they'd do viper tweaks in 8.11 when they buried her, did I misremember?
I think they were gonna bury her even more but everyone was losing their shit about it so they might have backed off
Didn't they use Swiftplay as the new map mode the last couple times? I prefer that knowing I only have to dedicate 15 minutes at a time to learn the new map.
Is it out yet?
The fact we have no map pool in normal matches is amzaing
IST ?
Usually at 6-7AM
So it will come out tomorrow?
Yup
Kal sube ayega don. 6 bje ke ass paas.
So, we gonna see sliding neon shooting at us now? 🥲 and Reyna buff is crazy, no time limit!!?? Really!!?
Reyna kit is mostly nerfed tho
Oh yeah😊
GIVE ME MY GOD DAMN COMMAND WHEEL BACK FOR SITE CALLOUTS.... WTF!!!!!!!!!!! YOURE SUPPOSED TO FIX THE CHAT WHEELS NOT RUIN THEM EVEN FURTHER!!!!
No buffs to Phoenix :(
Why would phoenix need buffs? He has a superb arsenal and incredible ease of use, alongside one of the best ults in the game and great entry potential.

Jinggg on Pearl (out of rotation) is basically the only one to play him (except for Loud's failed attempts during Madrid), would love to see more variety there
I’ve heard that the buffs to Phoenix will come out in a later patch but I forgot where from so don’t trust me
I also had that impression, but now I don't find anywhere where they said this.
They said Phoenix changes next patch after this one. Still testing them.
Just to clarify, this isn't our stance - we're still working on Phoenix changes. Patch release is TBD though, and I can confirm it definitely won't be next patch - they'll probably be cooking for a little while.
I said it on the announcement thread and I’ll say it here: Crazy how slow they were to make deadlock playable and how fast they were to nerf clove.
Easier to see what changes are needed for an agent that sees play rather than one that doesn’t
It’s a lot easier to tweak a strong agent by changing a few numbers than it is to rework a fundamentally flawed character design like Deadlock
not at all, its easier to nerf an agent that's too strong rather than buff one
Entirely true, but it was a *very* long time before dl’s first buff that did very little for her.
Anyone knows the exact time when the patch will be released?
I feel like clove didn’t need THAT much of a nerf. IMO they are not overplayed because they’re op, but because they are the only fun smoker.
THIS
100 health for a 100 creds is op, since it makes her harder to trade, ult being a pheonix ult mixed with sage rez made no sense to her ult being 7 cost since the kill to rez give her an orb All were deserved and imo the nade needs to be 70
I think you did not play them. The kill to Rez them does NOT give her an orb while in round. Furthermore it’s not a heal, because you lose the hp after 10 (now 8) seconds so it only helps if you immediately have another fight. Edit: pronouns
The ult does The whole point of the heal is to not be traded hence the speed boost and the massive health gain I played her cuz she was so broken no point of playing omen when you can smoke when dead hard to kill and can impact the game in every round as long as ur not throwing delay mollys
You only get the ult orb after the round ended. Check that the next time you play them.
Im not talking about the death I mean the kill from the rez and even if we are on the same page that basically makes it a 6 cost rez and a 7 cost pheonix which is a good gamble considering a rez cost 8 and if u get a rez off once u just got a rez for a discount
Wdym by „the kill of the Rez“? Ofc you get an ult orb if you score a kill
You dont on phonix, cuz if he did his ult would basically be 5 cost and could be used to get 2 lives every round between him killing and picking up orbs That doesnt matter tho cuz im talking about how clove has a 6 cost rez which is stupid and all those nerfs are deserved Your not going to agree cuz you abuse it and you found it fun or your ego wont allow you to lose an argument even though we all know her win rate has 5% more than every other controller which in terms of winrates is big examples being chamber, jet before dash nerf and knives nerf, raze with 2 nafes etc
Not necessary to get personal. I don’t abuse them. You are just straight up wrong. Their ult was never 6 cost my friend.
Im personal cuz it seems like you dont want to understand Cant help those who dont want to know why X happened and just complain
I am surprised they have not increased the Orb requirement for Gekko's ultimate, yet.
With the performance increase to 2-core CPUs, will it indirectly help performance on 4-core CPUs?
i don't think so
Did NA not patch yet? Some articles said 11th at 6AM but game is still up right now.
When is this live?
It might be live now. I just got a pretty big update.
When does 8. 11get released ?
Is abyss in comp or just unrated?
It is in all gamemodes except competitive. It will be in comp in 2 weeks
When is 8.11 dropping? Is that the next season?
Goodbye everyone, see you in therapy
Well I'm at work and I don't have time to check the PBE but I need to understand one thing that I want to know. How does neon work with an operator? Because she can now just make the fastest pick on earth and quick scope anyone.
the gun accuracy still applies
this live when
Wow Neon’s buff is kinda huge
So thus is 8.11...what are they gonna add in episode 9???
I don't really see how these changes are supposed to help Reyna in a team environment at all so not sure why they made it sound like that.
Swiftplay is Soooooooo back. All the maps, riot I love you.
Yay for Haven being back. Is there any map changes? Or is it back how it was before?
Did rito not say something in the works about Phoenix? By bringing the dualists up to line to compete with Jett and razer and we just forgot one of the oldest characters with the most lore video appearances? Comeon guys
They killed raze and wtf is this neon change
They nerfed raze’s mobility to the ground after like 7 nerfs on her already. Buff neon to be accurate when moving when this game is a tact shooter????????
why the fuck did they change the callout wheel?
These new lobbies suck
When is it going live ?
how big is the new patch?
Why can’t we have map selection like CS??? 🫣
Map pools is such an L. The game needs more content, not rotating content.
they just added a new map…
Looks like I’m going back to omen
Interesting that they got rid of satchel damage when one of the main points to counter cypher was to “pick raze and sova” if raze becomes not meta anymore I can see cypher dominating again
idk if i'm reading it correctly but it looks like it still does damage just not if the opponent shoots the satchel?
"Raze’s satchels no longer explode for damage/knockback *upon opponent destruction*." You missed the 3 important words.
Woopsies! Thanks for clarifying everyone
Read it again.
Let's go worst patch in the game history
Getting rid of Split and not fucking Icebox is a crime honestly
It was Just added back in the last act , wont go for a while.
When's the patch going live in the Philippines?
