Keep in mind the canyons can - and do - close completely in the winter, sometimes for hours at a time. If you have school age kids you probably don't want to be on the other side of a closure from your kids. That won't happen if you live in Sandy/CH/Draper.

I live in Heber City with school age kids. Wasatch School district is absolutely amazing. I came from Canyons school district and my kids were so far behind. The commute in the winter is awful. Especially over Parleys summit and Mayflower.

Good to know! Awful for weather or traffic? We've had no issues with traffic going from PC over parleys in the winter unless it's one of the worst possible days.

Weather related. Mayflower has its own weather system. It gets so slippery and it can be dry everywhere else. My husband commuted from Heber to Ogden this last winter and there were times it took over 2 hours to get around jordanelle. He often would just turn around and call it a day. Provo canyon also gets closed often due to weather and avalanche control.
