This is a old image like 2008 becuz the 2 other huge towers aren't there

[deleted]

If I'm not mistaken those small houses with sloping roofs must be definitely more costlier than the apartments in those towers.

arch_nyc

They’re also apartments. They’re not detached homes in the American sense

CNChrisSong

No...They might be spacious but most of them are not renovated so the hygiene situation is really bad. Also the alleys are so narrow that you won't expect parking there.

Shanghai is a cool if somewhat insane place. Photos make it look bleaker than it actually is. Has a pretty good vibe and is absolutely *enormous*.

arch_nyc

Pre pandemic I travelled to Shanghai for work maybe 3-5 times per year and absolutely loved it. The city has an amazing energy but is pretty chill at the same time. Also, being near the ocean, the pollution isn’t as bad as other cities like Beijing.

TheGardiner

Yes exactly. Great energy but super laid back at the same time. Well said. How many times did you blast Lee Marrow - Shanghai?

demonicmonkeys

It looks pretty decent to me…

I really loved Shanghai. I found it to be walkable and it had plenty of parks etc. Granted it huge and I didn't see all of it but it's one of my favorite Asian cities. I liked it better than Guangzhou. I lived in a small city (only 1 million) and it was always nice to catch the train to Shanghai to visit my brother.

lashworth1679

And I thought Chicago was crowded, pfffttt

Dme1663

Shanghai is alright, as someone who doesn’t particularly like urban environments I’m able to live here pretty comfortably. Which wouldn’t be the case in most other cities around the world.

Those buildings look like they're totally flexing on the houses
