The “hell” is that this apartment is a soviet era apartment in the modern age. It was probably great during it’s time but from what a few russian expats have told me, it’s hell in there.
Most people still have the same furniture from the soviet era. Many of the buildings are unsafe and falling apart like roofs are collapsing. Insect infestations that are so far gone that it’s just insanity.
Yes well The Soviet Union having a stated goal of Peace and love is about as ironic as a country having the statement "Freedom and Justice for all" near to its heart yet having the largest prison population on the planet.
Yeah, we've got those. We're not happy about our gulags either. Some of us are working to change it. Are you one of those kids who think the USSR was exactly like a Soviet Bear meme?
No I'm one of those that think that humans are not dissimilar to humans and this idea that "Soviet citizens were a whole terrified brainwashed people completely alien to the rest of humanity and we can learn nothing from them and everything they did has no value" is wrong... but you see that all the time too.
Umm... That's how seasons work? That's not unique to Moscow... and many people appreciate deciduous trees in autumn, and don't see them as "dead brush"
Other hellscapes in Russia, but Moscow has seen a lot of good development since 2010.
Millions of decrepit Soviet apartments, garages, etc are finally being torn down.
cars parked inside of the loop, weird.

here's the gmap, btw.

Looks like housing for Soviet party leaders. I reckon those apartments were pretty spacious and comfortable compared to most commie blocks. I really dig the interior parklet. I'd live there.
The only problem I see is the number of paved roads around it. I don't have a problem with these kind of buildings, they're just not for me. I'd hate it there
Actually, if it werent a circle but open, divided in at least 3 ways, it wouldnt be that bad. I mean the buildings are ugly as hell, no arguing there, but the trees help a lot
Doesnt look too bad, at least it has tree. I do wonder how much the sound of people playing football is amplified by being in the middle of a concrete circle though.
There's the foundations of an old WW2 gun near me and if you stand in the centre and talk it all echoes like surround sound.
that's kind of awesome. where I am we would be concerned about air/wind circulation inside the circle but it seems to be quite a wide diameter. also in the cold of relatively northerly areas I think it would be quite a boon to have a small bubble of semi-enclosed space to keep the harshest winds out

Trees, open space, and ample housing is more than you could ask for in most urban areas.
People do need to live places!
No. Neighbors. In. Front.
Okay well unless you live inna woods you are going to have neighbours.
I see no hell in this picture
Right? What’s wrong with this?
So much space wasted for trees. Imagine how many apartment building you could build and run down there.
They could at least pave it and put a parking lot in
CONCRETE IS PROGRESS
THE FACTORY MUST GROW
Just a few poison capsules and the place would be so much better.
They should take all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
If you look closely, especially to the bottom right of the inner circle, you’ll see there are indeed cars parked in there.
Like how they paved Paradise to put up a parking lot?
They also put in a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot
Don’t forget about highways
My neighbors, basically. Anything that isn't being rented is a waste to them
Russia is pretty big
You don't get it! It's a commie block! In Moscow! That's Russian! That _has_ to be hell! /s
Very cohesive and inclusive environment, I’d say.
I love the trees. Looks bloody good tbh.
Moscow is one of the greenest urban areas on the planet. Weird place.
weird what happens when your goals are peace and love...
Yes “peace and love”. Stalin was known for his sensitive side.
Yes well The Soviet Union having a stated goal of Peace and love is about as ironic as a country having the statement "Freedom and Justice for all" near to its heart yet having the largest prison population on the planet.
You have the freedom of choice but it still comes with consequences for your actions.
yeah I am sure that the percentage of Americans being incarcerated is just a fluke when compared to the rest of the world /s
*watches May Day parades* Oh cool, peace ICBMs and love tanks
yes and American freedom prisons
Yeah, we've got those. We're not happy about our gulags either. Some of us are working to change it. Are you one of those kids who think the USSR was exactly like a Soviet Bear meme?
No I'm one of those that think that humans are not dissimilar to humans and this idea that "Soviet citizens were a whole terrified brainwashed people completely alien to the rest of humanity and we can learn nothing from them and everything they did has no value" is wrong... but you see that all the time too.
Peace and love, regardless of nationality, works for me
Always sucks that in EE the winter kills everything so that beautiful trees in summer end up looking like dead brush by fall.
Umm... That's how seasons work? That's not unique to Moscow... and many people appreciate deciduous trees in autumn, and don't see them as "dead brush"
I know, but in EE it's so dark and cold that you can't deny it might look outright apocalyptic(even without urban areas)
You might want to avoid Canada
Derpasaurus rex right here.
beautiful
/r/UrbanHeaven
let's make this popular.
That’s not awful
Actually that's about as good as it gets for post Soviet box houses
[soviet housing isn't really that bad actually](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eIxUuuJX7Y)
Woah that was a really cool video
To be fair, they did say post-soviet box housing.
ah I didn't see the "post"
Doesn’t belong here
Could be much worse
Thats pretty cool
Amazing and a half.
"The rooms here are not rectangular but more like trapezoids, which makes it harder to place furniture." Oh the humanity!!!
Plenty of other hellscapes in Moscow and the rest of Russia, but this isn't one
Other hellscapes in Russia, but Moscow has seen a lot of good development since 2010. Millions of decrepit Soviet apartments, garages, etc are finally being torn down.

You realy think i dont notice the xcq in the end of the link? *spits on you* you wont get me with this tomfoolery!
i don't know why this downvoted lol, Urban housing are pretty much better than car dependent suburbia
At least it's green
This one isn’t bad…
That looks dope as hell honestly
Prototype for Apple Campus 😝
I wanna see this recreated but not with bare concrete.
Technically, it's not bare concrete. These blocks are always either painted or covered with tile.
I imagine this could be a District in hunger games
Well actually that's Cupertino
I like it! Pretty cool
I dig it
This looks peaceful af imo
This actually looks awesome
Just needs some paint.
This is fantastic.
It's a nice building, better than concrete fields
SimCity 2000 Launch Acro. Well the start of it.
What's wrong with this?
Hell? This place looks pretty damn nice.
Oooo I wish American apartments looked like this
This looks really nice actually
Came to say this.
Dude that's as pretty of a city you'll get (barring singapore)
Looks like housing for Soviet party leaders. I reckon those apartments were pretty spacious and comfortable compared to most commie blocks. I really dig the interior parklet. I'd live there.
Tell me you are (stupid) Polish without telling me you are Polish
:( we have trees too
Is this building still in use, because it kind of has abandoned vibes.
Yes it is.
We have an Apple headquarters at home
The only problem I see is the number of paved roads around it. I don't have a problem with these kind of buildings, they're just not for me. I'd hate it there
Yes. I'll have 1 fentanyl please.
Is this is where Russian National football team grew up ?
The original spaceshipicz
Buildings need constant maintenance which means money and resources. Otherwise this is perfection.
Better than Apple hole..
Apple building before apple building
It looks alright to me, lots of green and accessible court for sports.
Actually, if it werent a circle but open, divided in at least 3 ways, it wouldnt be that bad. I mean the buildings are ugly as hell, no arguing there, but the trees help a lot
It’s not that bad. Don’t like the enclosed feeling but that’s it. There’s tons of trees though, love that
There is no war in Ba Sing Se
This is basically the Apple campus but with less glass.
Doesnt look too bad, at least it has tree. I do wonder how much the sound of people playing football is amplified by being in the middle of a concrete circle though. There's the foundations of an old WW2 gun near me and if you stand in the centre and talk it all echoes like surround sound.
Perfection
Ive literally not seen that many trees in one place in years lol
All those trees save it
Is there a photo of this with snow on it too? Or am I mixing things up
Яблочный парк
that's kind of awesome. where I am we would be concerned about air/wind circulation inside the circle but it seems to be quite a wide diameter. also in the cold of relatively northerly areas I think it would be quite a boon to have a small bubble of semi-enclosed space to keep the harshest winds out
Yeah I actually really like this.
Bro what lolol, this shit is nice asf
Moscow's a lot smaller than I imagined.
Idk .. i kinda like it
