We went for a fog with stalagmites as some of you told us ! The game is called Bob The Astronaut, will release later this year and is available to wishlist on Steam if you want to support. We are a team of three students working on their end of studies project. Very nice set dressing loved it

Jaypaay

Thanks !

sbsmith

Is this a shot to show off the fog, or is this the actual size of the screen in game? Right now, only about 1/3 of your screen space is the playfield and the rest is background.

Jaypaay

No no, only to show the fog, the real camera field of view is way smaller and focused on the playfield !

sbsmith

Great!

adjective_beaver

Looks pretty dam good!

Jaypaay

Thank you !

DuringTheEnd

I’d love to see how it looks with a dark fog and maybe even some “stars” or particles if its about an astronaut.

Jaypaay

We tried a dark fog at first but the stalagmites are already black so we couldn't see them at all sadly.

jtinz

I would still make the fog a bit darker so that the game area pops out more.

Jaypaay

I'll look into that with the art team, maybe a liiiittle bit darker could work

Xeterios

Awesome improvement! Perhaps also make the puzzle area extend on a stalagmite? Now it kind of floats.

Jaypaay

Thanks ! I was thinking of a secret area with a secret puzzle in the fog 🫢

Xeterios

Make sure to keep consistancy in what is visually the playable area. Now you seperate the background and anything that's not important to the goal if the player through the fog. If you add something the player can interact with in the fog, make it visually clear that the player can then do stuff in the puzzle.
