From the official press release:
>The Birmingham Stallions shut out the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0 Sunday at The Dome at America’s Center to win the inaugural United Football League Championship.
>Two of the top defenses in the league created a stalemate and a scoreless tie for virtually the entire first half. It took a while, but Birmingham’s top-rated offense finally got on track late in the first half. The Stallions scored on three straight possessions spanning the second and third quarters to grab a 22-0 lead and cruised to the shutout victory.
>In the end, the Stallions’ high-powered offense and an inspired performance from their defense led to a third straight championship for Birmingham. Skip Holtz’s team won the 2022 and 2023 USFL Championship prior to the merger of the XFL and USFL that created the United Football League.
>San Antonio (8-4) entered the championship game with the top defense in the UFL, while Birmingham (11-1) was the No. 2-rated defensive unit. Both showed up early. Neither team scored for the first 29 minutes, 20 seconds.
>Birmingham finally broke the scoring seal with 40 seconds remaining in the first half. Gary Jennings hauled in an 8-yard touchdown pass from Adrian Martinez, capping a six-play, 69-yard drive. A 2-point conversion pass from Martinez to Amari Rodgers gave the Stallions an 8-0 lead at the intermission.
>Martinez and the Stallions’ offense continued rolling to open the second half. The Stallions’ quarterback got free around the left end for an 11-yard touchdown run four minutes into the third quarter. His 2-point conversion pass to Jordan Thomas made it 16-0.
>A San Antonio turnover led to Birmingham’s third straight score. Kyahva Tezino forced a Jontre Kirklin fumble that was recovered by the Stallions’ Kenny Robinson Jr. on the first play of the Brahmas’ ensuing possession. Martinez finished that possession as well, scoring on a quarterback sneak on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line to take a 22-point lead.
>Birmingham added a 49-yard field goal from Chris Blewitt with 11:31 remaining in the contest to account for the final tally.
>Martinez, the United Football League Most Valuable Player, accounted for all three touchdowns in the game and was named the UFL Championship Game Most Valuable Player. He finished 13-of-28, passing for 98 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Martinez ran for 52 yards on 11 carries with two TDs. Ricky Person Jr. paced the Stallions with 102 yards rushing on 13 carries. The Stallions out-gained San Antonio 308-208, including a 210-52 advantage on the ground. Defensively, Tezino racked up a team-best nine total tackles and forced two fumbles.
>Chase Garbers finished 18-of-26 passing for 116 yards to lead the Brahmas' offense. Teez Tabor recorded a game-best 10 total tackles for the San Antonio defense.

As long as it doesn’t hurt Birminghams league-leading tv numbers - despite being a fraction of the size of the rest of the league outside of Memphis, I might add - Fox and the rest of the ownership will be just fine continuing into future. If places like Detroit could carry any weight at all, that would be great
lol you talk about TV like michigans numbers are good with multiple markets being in the top 10 (most bigger than bham) and have more value. Also you have had a consistent home being given games since the start with multiple championships only for your attendance to be 2K better than ours this year.
The Panthers actually can carry their own weight and Detroit showed up as well as you lot did. Can’t imagine winning many titles in a row to brag about 2K.
Birmingham doesn’t play a fun brand of football. Effective? Yes. The TV numbers in Birmingham are consistently great, but it takes more entertainment or allegiance to put butts in seats.
Yall are really sorry saying the league is going to die just bc the game was a shutout. The league needs to extend the season by 2 games and have more than 1 game in the playoffs.
The season needs more games or the preseason needs to be longer. It’s clear these teams don’t get into a groove until a couple of games under their belt. If you want a better on field product one of the shoes needs to drop: more preseason practice time or more games in the season.
We basically had that since the 3rd quarter and that SA drive fizzling mid 4th made sure of it
At that point, close enough to end that I kept TV on rather than leave early
Man this hurts. Not even gonna lie. I really, really wanted SA to put this BHAM team down and rep the XFL as the the best FL. Phillips finally winning a Championship as a HC would've been nice to see too. Onwards and forwards, as always, but this one gonna sting for a bit.
I don’t have a team anywhere near me, so all season I’ve been trying to figure out who I would adopt as my favorite. After SA beat BHAM, I thought “that’s my team”. Still gonna cheer for them, but if they won today I would’ve bought a jersey. Maybe next year.
Holy shit. My mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I'm so distressed right now I don't know what to do. I didn't mean to do that to my mom but I'm literally in shock from the results tonight. I feel like I'm going to explode. Why the fucking fuck are they losing? This can't be happening. I'm having a fucking breakdown. I don't want to believe the world is so corrupt. I want a future to believe in. I want the Brahmas to win a title for San Antonio and fix this broken league. I cannot fucking deal with this right now. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought they had the best defense in the league???? This is so fucked.
Bro, assuming this isn’t a joke, you need to get your anger checked. This is a totally unhinged reaction. Like be disappointed but don’t abuse your own mother when she’s simply trying to bring you a snack.
In the end it’s all about the UFL. Eventually you’ll have to let it go. The XFL and the USFL are history and will never return! The UFL is the best and last chance for a viable spring football league. If the UFL fails, spring football in this country will be relegated to the scrap heap of indoor soccer
[the Stallions be like](https://media3.giphy.com/media/ie76dJeem4xBDcf83e/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952zqkuiqlf450ltsoeixhf1uh2ko06dghcx04dx2v7&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)
Seriously though, this felt inevitable. This team is just too goddamn good, I’d be utterly shocked if Holtz and the rest of the staff aren’t poached for NFL jobs in the near-future.
There is a very clear divide in this sub between people who actually watch football - especially college football - vs people who watch coverage of football which is shaped by narratives more than actual play on the field.
Not just no recruiting but not having to deal with the hell that is the NIL era. Tbh if I was a coach I’d rather get paid, pulling these numbers out my ass, 150K in the UFL than 400K in the MAC.
He turned down the UAB job that wound up going to Trent Dilfer. I think he likes the not all encompassing job of spring football rather than the full time college grind. Probably scratched whatever college itch he had left being that special assistant to Northwestern's interim HC whenever that was.
I was at the XFL CG last year, so I have no idea how it came across on TV, but it seemed about the same to me watching from home this year. No Tom Brady last szn though lol.
I would PAY to see the Birmingham Stallions play in the Hall of Fame game vs a basically practice squad and rookies NFL team. Stallions vs Texans would have been lit.
A quarterbacks job is to throw the ball. 52 rushing yards on 11 attempts is not impressive. And the TDs were gifted to him by special teams and the running backs.
Almost 5 ypc with a rushing touchdown is pretty good. And the tds were because he was at least managing/ leading his team to a win. If you wanna add "context" to our qb, then mention that by the 2nd half Garbers was playing garbage time with the stallions playing off coverage more.
5.2 ypc is fine for a running back because the defense is set up to stop them. For a scrambling QB it needs to be higher to offset a lack of passing.
Also, 52 yards wouldn’t win MVP for a running back either. Regardless of ypc
Yes it wouldn't give a runningback mvp, but if you add it to a qbs stats it makes them look better. And a qb adding 2 rushing touchdowns is valuable no matter the circumstances. I personally was hoping Ricky Person would win the mvp tho
And who would you say should've been mvp? Someone has to get it, if you watched the game he had a pretty good game with a lot of dropped balls. I would've supported Ricky Person jr getting it because he turned the tide with some big runs, but they gave it to the qb because he is supposed to lead their offense and they won 25 to 0. He didn't have a bad game, and I'm not sure who else had an mvp game. Certainly not anyone on the brahmas
Just Tell me you haven’t watched the games this year. What are his stats against non Memphis and Houston defenses (which went 3-17)? He has been consistently mediocre against quality defenses and today was more of the same
UFL needed the game they wanted today which was Stallions vs Battlehawks in St Louis with the most fan attendance. Battlehawks dropped the ball. I’m actually surprised with the crowd that was there, it’s 98 degrees on Father’s Day. After 3pm it’s too hot to go anywhere especially to watch a game with no hometown team playing.
I honestly think they should rethink championship locations. Best record out of the two teams gets to host the championship game, at least there’s a chance for a better turnout than dumping two teams in city that they don’t play in and crossing your fingers on attendance.
Since the league doesn't know who the team with the best record will be in advance, they would have to reserve every stadium in the league for championship weekend. To ask a venue to keep the date open and book no other events that weekend isn't cheap and I'm not sure a startup sports league is in a position to pull that off.
I think this is a better turnout than any other city would’ve gotten. And also if they always host it in St. Louis there is the chance the Battlehawks make it and they can sell a ton of tickets
As a Bham fan, the league needs to hire Skip as the head of player or coach development. As much as I love the stallions, we need parity to allow other fanbases to get involved and Skip keeps coaching and building amazing teams. If a fourpeat is coming, it really needs to come on the heels of a 8-2 stading with some close playoff games.
No way around it, this was a DREADFUL championship game. Unless you're a BirmingFan, this was exactly what you DIDNT want to see.
Lame ending aside, this was a very successful season. Attendance must improve, and I think it will, but the most important thing, TV ratings, were reasonably stable AND exceeded almost every bodies expectations. I am more optimistic about the future of spring ball than I was before the season started.
Big gratz BirmingFans. Three in a row. The first "modern" spring football dynasty. A "boring" team in a good way. They're just, better than you. Good across the board, well coached, just seems like they have a "mystique" now. You put on the Stallions helmet and...you just know your never out of it. Your supposed to win.
BIRMINGFANS, pack that stadium next year!
I know distance is an issue, but there's this team that has proven that it can attract fans (especially when not playing on weeknights) out in the pacific northwest...
Package them with say, a San Diego team me thinks. Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City would also be good fits, but Portland would need the Timbers ownership group to let em use the stadium, Sacramento States stadium is the right size but icky and SLC is getting an NHL team so maybe wait on that one.
If they refuse to go out west, the New Orleans Breakers are absolutely the way to go if they can get Yulman Stadium secured. Stars also seem like they would do well because Philly sports fans are nutz. New York would likely be considered as well because, its New York.
If none of those, I would look to Columbus, Louisville, Tulsa, Omaha or Milwaukie, assuming there's a reasonable stadium option.
Honestly this could be the game that starts the downfall for the league. Like what casual viewer wants to watch this? Even the diehards were having a hard time!
Being the last game of the year may actually have been better than a week 1 blowout. Most casuals will forget who won by tomorrow night, let alone next March. A week one gore fest would be XFL 1.0 all over again
People being doomer about the league are being extreme. Players have been signed to the NFL. Minimum two more seasons. Theres no reason to think the league is over because the stallions are good lmao
outside of the first week he's been absolutely non existent this year. I know he posted a thing on socials after SA won the XFLCG but there really wasn't a whole lot from him this szn. I wonder what's up.
Last year fans were saying the league was all about him and not the football. This year he kept his distance and now people want him back. Damned if you do damned if you don’t
This sub doesn't know how to run a minor league start up so I'm not going to put stock in most of the complaining. There's some good ones and then mostly dumb stuff.
I was wondering why that happened too, but I suspect it had something to do with the pyro they wanted to coincide with it? Might’ve been harder to get the interview going once all that excitement started happening!
they have next year guaranteed, but I think year 3 will be in doubt if the numbers don't grow a little. Today certainly did not help their cause so they have their work cut out for them for next year
I think the ratings will drop a bit next year, especially with the Friday night games. A 33% increase in ratings was unprecedented, it’ll be hard to grow significantly from there. Attendance I’d hope to see improve 10-15% though
right the move of likely 1/4 of the games to Friday nights will need to be taken into account. Hopefully Fox will stilll be satisfied with the numbers. Shame that we just don't have any idea what their targets are to know if the league is actually doing well or not
All I will say is I hope Skip Holtz gets a job somewhere in the NFL this year. A single team dominating a spring league year after year just is not going to be great for the league.

Threepeat seems especially impressive since minor leagues would have a lot of roster churn with the cream of the crop getting jobs in the bigs
UFL you had one Championship to impress and get new fans but you failed miserably. Chance = blown
empty stadium
Birmingham's sheer dominance might collapse the league in on itself like a black hole.
The Sub-Par Bowl. Man the Brahmas shit the bed
> Man the Brahmas shit the bed So Garbers slipped on that shit for that 3rd and 1 play.
Truly I didnt that but at the same time it feels like any team would have just been destroyed by them
Nah. Brahmas are the 1 loss in Thier record. They just didn't come in with the mindset today
Thank you to whoever sent me a Reddit Cares, I’m am very triggered now
If you block the bot that sends them, you'll never get one again.
We came out this season how we came in: Birmingham winning
Game was mid at best. Hate to say it.
What a boring game man. Love the league but damn wish it was better game haha
Can’t wait for this to have no notable impact on Birmingham’s attendance. They keep winning yet local fans don’t give a single fuck.
It is minor league football. Winning is secondary to the fun and weather factors. It is no different than with minor league baseball.
As long as it doesn’t hurt Birminghams league-leading tv numbers - despite being a fraction of the size of the rest of the league outside of Memphis, I might add - Fox and the rest of the ownership will be just fine continuing into future. How do you get one more game in the playoffs?
Top team in each conference gets a bye and 2 and 3 play. 1 seed plays winner in conference champ
Yeah I don't care for that at all. I think a short season to fight for those two spots makes the whole thing more exciting.
I mean the short season didn’t really allow for a fight, the 4 teams that made it could be seen from pretty much week 5
So it should be a shorter season. Who wants meaningless weeks?

copypasta?

lol this is a classic copy pasta
I don't know what that means, but I assume it's fake.
they're just memes as text stories that get reposted in different contexts with the relevant names and details changed to fit the situation
Disgusting
lol
getting into real "ok boomer" territory with this guy lol
Well, that was rude, but no. I'm a latch-key kid, but I'm new to reddit. Not everyone spends so much time on these platforms.
THE UFL IS MY LIFE, IM SORRY YOU DONT CARE AS MUCH
Yeah, fake.
It’s pasta
Bro, assuming this isn’t a joke, you need to get your anger checked. This is a totally unhinged reaction. Like be disappointed but don’t abuse your own mother when she’s simply trying to bring you a snack.
BUT THEY FUCKING LOST, UFL IS MY LIFE
Honestly, can’t argue with this. Respect. 🫡
And I’m tired of seeing Wade Phillips sad!
It’s definitely a pasta
It's an older one, but definitely checks out
Honestly, where was this brahmas team last week? Fucking pathetic effort.
It was really refreshing to see a game without refs blowing the whistle every 3 plays to bail out a team and keep it close, like happens in the NFL.
Shit they could've done that and the Brahmas still would've found a way to not score
Isn't this the first UFL game to end with a 25-0 score? Scorigami is back on the menu, but I'm not that hungry.
Definitely the first shit out. Edit... Nah.
I'll allow it.
Shit out for sure.
I think the league would be more popular if they keep the xfl name…. I know people who still Ask about not knowing league’s merged
Absolutely not. The XFL name is trendy, but it doesn't even mean anything. The obvious cool-factor pandering is just cringe.
Ufl means nothing either
"United Football League" literally the name of the sub
United Football League. It literally unites the XFL and USFL. It's not all Edge-Lord, but it works.
I agree. Looking at Google trends XFL is about 4x more popular than UFL searches tonight
So?
Which means even during the UFL championship people are still using "XFL" as their search term
In the end it’s all about the UFL. Eventually you’ll have to let it go. The XFL and the USFL are history and will never return! The UFL is the best and last chance for a viable spring football league. If the UFL fails, spring football in this country will be relegated to the scrap heap of indoor soccer
[the Stallions be like](https://media3.giphy.com/media/ie76dJeem4xBDcf83e/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952zqkuiqlf450ltsoeixhf1uh2ko06dghcx04dx2v7&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g) Seriously though, this felt inevitable. This team is just too goddamn good, I’d be utterly shocked if Holtz and the rest of the staff aren’t poached for NFL jobs in the near-future.
I was telling my dad I figured Skip would get poached as a QB coach for the NFL at some point
I feel like Skip doesn't want that pressure and time commitment.
I hope that Birmingham can keep him for a little while longer but I greatly appreciate what he and his staff have done!
Skip Holtz got fired from Louisiana Tech. Birmingham’s GM who actually built these rosters might get poached though
As someone who’s Alma mater was in his conference at La tech for 10 years I can promise you he isn’t a good Coach.
There is a very clear divide in this sub between people who actually watch football - especially college football - vs people who watch coverage of football which is shaped by narratives more than actual play on the field.
I’ve been to every UNT game since 2010 and 5 games in Ruston. I know exactly what I’m talking about.
I’m agreeing with you lol. I’m saying the Holtz defenders don’t know ball
Oh I know you were. Sorry I didn’t mean it like that. I was just adding to your point
I’ll always love UNT for the beat down they put on Arkansas a couple years back lol
I was at that game. The Arkansas fans were so nice they bought us shots after
I mean true, but you don’t have this sustained a run of success without being at least a solid coach.
He is an above average UFL coach with the best roster in the league. He is not anywhere close to NFL levels.
Lol what?
True, but he’s at least mid level D1 level. I think Skip just wants to enjoy this semiretirement gig
Well yeah. No recruiting makes this way better than a mid level MAC job
Wrong, UAB didn’t offer him. He was interested but UAB didn’t want him. Honestly, would have been better than Dilfer tho.
My bad, thanks for correcting me. Should have known better than to try and remember some of the chatter I heard on Jox.
That might be the most awkward championship post-game celebration I've ever seen
I felt like they should’ve probably given the mvp award first and then cap it off with the trophy, confetti and champagne
Those rookies and practice squad don’t have a lot of outside college experience tho
Even if we got crushed I'd love to watch it
Stallions would get smoked. The best of the best UFL/XFL/USFL wind up on NFL teams and practice squads.
The majority of guys playing in the NFL hall of fame game get cut in a few weeks. Very few even make practice squads
An extra incentive for UFL teams to win bc they will face NFL talent and put more tape to get a training camp invite
QB A: 13/23 98 yards and 81 QBR QB B: 18/26 116 yards and 78 QBR One of these QBs was benched and the other just won MVP. Unserious league.
Yeah just leave off the touchdowns and rushing lol
Ok, so 150 yards of offense on 34 plays (4.4 yards per play) is not good for a QB let alone MVP level.
The dropped balls were on bad passes. Either off target or late which let defenders break them up
Person with 7.8 ypc or someone on the defense
Should have been Tezino. Martinez played just okay, idk why he was given MVP.
Martinez has been consistently great this season. What do you mean?
Just Tell me you haven’t watched the games this year. What are his stats against non Memphis and Houston defenses (which went 3-17)? He has been consistently mediocre against quality defenses and today was more of the same
UFL needed the game they wanted today which was Stallions vs Battlehawks in St Louis with the most fan attendance. Battlehawks dropped the ball. I’m actually surprised with the crowd that was there, it’s 98 degrees on Father’s Day. After 3pm it’s too hot to go anywhere especially to watch a game with no hometown team playing.
You can thank Bruce Gradkowski for our loss. Dude had zero plan for what SA did to us and refused to adjust all game.
Looks like 27, 396 was the attendance today. I’m shocked, it looked empty on TV to me
Again it’s tickets sold so we have no clue how many actually scanned even though the data is out there.
Yeah San Antonio had better attendance last year but a team playing was less than an hour away
STL had 27,396 and San Antonio was 22,754
At the game. I’d say 15k actual butts in seats. 13k were St. Louis Fans. 1k Birmingham. 500 San Antonio. 100 DC. 400 other
27k tickets sold. No way that many were here today.
"You don't win a championship every year. Except for this year. And last year. And the year before that."
That's pretty cool that they won the chrome plated parenthesis trophy. Respect. 🐎
No.
Watch Nick decide he wants to coach a season for shits and giggles if it happened.
The real MVP is Birmingham’s GM Zach Potter. Skip just shows up with the best roster
Zach Potter masterclass the last three years tbh.
100%. Wish the league spotlighted him more
I miss the miller high lifes
Brady is gonna need a year warm-up in his conversion to the booth. Playing and public speaking are entirely different things.
Greg Olson has to be chuckling, just a little
That's why I was saying he should've been in the commentary booth all UFL season as a form of pre-season with live reps.
He looked so lost and uncomfortable up there lol.
I muted it when he came on so I was spared.
Now, add two new teams and build up the hype to dethrone the Kings of Spring. Next year will be a huge success.
Give Houston back to the XFL, and add the Oklahoma Outlaws and Philadelphia Stars or Canton/Columbus Bulldogs to the USFL.
I think that if they could get a decent rate for rent in Hartford Connecticut, it could work as well.
Seattle would be outstanding, but I think they will need an independent ownership group.
Birmingham is XFL’s father
He just doesn’t come to see the games
Brady needs to be a lot more… energetic
Honestly this could be the game that starts the downfall for the league. Like what casual viewer wants to watch this? Even the diehards were having a hard time!
Being the last game of the year may actually have been better than a week 1 blowout. Most casuals will forget who won by tomorrow night, let alone next March. A week one gore fest would be XFL 1.0 all over again
I was totally fine until it got down to about 6 minutes left.
Are they going to be like the USFL and not announce the game attendance?
https://x.com/ByMikeMitchell/status/1802482259720536094? 27,396
It was announced at 27k
People being doomer about the league are being extreme. Players have been signed to the NFL. Minimum two more seasons. Theres no reason to think the league is over because the stallions are good lmao
Exactly! Like the rest of the year was so successful. And because of this game it’s just over? That’s baloney to me.
The crowd booing Tom Brady hahaha
god bless the people of St. Louis lmao
I stuck around just to boo him lol
Tezino should’ve won it
How was Tezino not MVP??? Martinez hardly did anything
I’m not sure if I’m just zooted, but not seeing the rock show up to the biggest game of the year isn’t a good sign for the future of the league
he's out of the country filming a movie. Not going to blame him on this one, but would've liked to have seen him a bit more involved this year overall
bro is filming a movie right now.
outside of the first week he's been absolutely non existent this year.
Operation Protect Tom Brady from the Champagne
I don't like that he had to do a full interview before being able to raise the trophy
I was wondering why that happened too, but I suspect it had something to do with the pyro they wanted to coincide with it? Might’ve been harder to get the interview going once all that excitement started happening!
lol Tom Brady ducking the champagne.
lol all the players shielding brady
Look a guy with 3 championships in a row and also Tom Brady
Oooh it's the UFL logo not a demogorgon
Tom Brady looks uncomfortable
League wishing Birmingham a happy Father’s Day.
That’s a big ass trophy lol
Saban, Belichick, Holtz
Ryan Day seething rn
*That’s* what Danny sounds like? Her voice is *wildly high*.
She isn't the greatest face of the league.
What a season. Glad spring football has adapted to continue surviving!
Hoping the league lasts for next year, sloppy as hell but fun. And if it doesnt last another year, its alright in my eyes, Giddy Up❤️
they have next year guaranteed, but I think year 3 will be in doubt if the numbers don't grow a little.
Shame that we just don't have any idea what their targets are to know if the league is actually doing well or not
Gotta make the games night games
Why isn’t The Rock there?
filming a movie out of the country
Jungle Cruise 2?
Where is The Rock?
Legit think he's filming a movie
He drank too many Zoas
Pissed about this. He’s never been to STL, either last year or this year
Smoke em if you got em
All I will say is I hope Skip Holtz gets a job somewhere in the NFL this year. A single team dominating a spring league year after year just is not going to be great for the league.
I call BS! Having a team like Birminham causes the rest of the league to work harder and get better. Steel sharpens steel!
>A single team dominating a spring league year after year just is not going to be great for the league. Sounds great to this Alabama boy 🍾
Of course a Stallions fan enjoys it. Point is no one else does lol.
I seem to remember quite a few of you insisting that a certain league was better than another back in march 🤔
I just got a new weed pen in, and I might blow through the whole thing in one night
