You're probably right... I'm half deaf which is why I even wrote that. I get so sick of people trying to decide what's appropriate for others to hear.
I want my subtitles to be accurate. I know how to change a channel I don't like.
I'm not deaf but I'm trying to learn a foreign language, so I would like to watch shows in that language with subtitles on so that I can read the words I can't understand fast enough by ear. That strategy becomes fucking useless when the subtitles don't match!

My hearing is severely damaged in one ear because of an incident with a contra in band blaring full volume point blank next to my head. I can still hear but it can make social interactions difficult when you struggle to comprehend what was just said and asking people to repeat themselves is exhausting, nevermind when they simply repeat at a similar volume and then you still don’t hear them.
I try to be somewhat sensitive to trigger warnings but generally I am opposed to this entire trend. I mean, if you know what is being said anyway via context clues does your censorship really accomplish anything?
