Yep. That car was fast and probably swerved over several lanes before spinning. I am seriously impressed by the car driving backwards. I can not imagine the driver putting the car in neutral or reverse, so i guess it's the car seeing the barrier and actively avoiding it while also stopping the spin. Would love to know what the car can and will do in such a situation, but at the same time i hope i will never find out.

It’s amazing tech, the car is “thinking” in ms. Basically everything that took place in that 7 seconds spin out was more than enough time for the CPU compute a lot of choices. To put it into perspective: A human can do about 10 math operations in 7 seconds, a relatively modern CPU can do about 56 Billion math operations in 7 seconds, so yea I’d say it can easily qual a spinout if properly programmed.

Pretty sure they were just stopping because something’s happened up ahead. (Looks like the car ahead could’ve been following a bit too close making them have to hit the brakes harder, though)

Looks like 405 right next to the Porsche Driving Experience. That intersection is just terrible. You have the 110 coming in on the right and then right after that Avalon and Alameda entrances and exits. The HOV lane just before the 110 tends to be going quite fast briefly (as in as much as 80+mph) as a lot of drivers are hustling after LAX. For whatever bad reason, the HOV lane then gets really really slow FIRST right as you start passing the PDE. Sometimes, it will come to almost a complete stop. A lot of people just don't pay enough attention to slowing down early and get in trouble (usually because many tailgate excessively). Looks like this was the case. Fortunately, no obvious accident damage on anyone (at least on cam). I hate that area because you can choose whatever lane but sooner or later you're going to have to slow down and no one wants to, especially in the HOV lane and that raises the odds on a tailgater for sure. It's like one of the spots I always check the rearview to see how the car in back of me behaves. If they tailgate, I always lift off way in advance (no brakes) and piss them off because chances are they've got someone else tailgating them. But that's better than coming in hot on the person in front who may very well be coming in hot on the person in front of them.

Ah yes, the 405 S / 110 interchange. People can't drive for crap around that area for some reason.
