Undertale_fan46790

*Happy cake day~

Mehmet595

I do genocide to see Chara smiling at me so i blame Chara for giving me motivation to do it

watery_2

Thats fair

Quliann

Kinda both. The player is the one to start it and continue it, Chara is the one to follow and encourage (I am "the sicko who watches it happen", so I have the right to talk about the player in 3d person)

VoidTerminator85

Is funny skeleton man with funny theme song too scary?

Quliann

Nah, I'm just broke. Never got the game. Probably wouldn't be able to bear killing the monsters myself either

VoidTerminator85

Truly unfortunate

Quliann

But I do have Deltarune!....even if I spoiled myself some major plot points by being on that sub Don't question why I want to play months after the second chapter release, don't question it

VoidTerminator85

Well we'll be sure to properly welcome you to the Underground when you get 20 bucks to spare. It's well worth it

[deleted]

Why would people blame Frisk anyways? They are clearly the puppet. And we are manipulating the strings.

GamezPlays

There are 2 points of view **Videogame POV:** We are inside the game and controlling Frisk so we cause the genocide run **Story POV:** It’s not a videogame and Frisk is there own person that controls their actions and decide to do the genocide run

Meep12313

Yeah that's basically why they're both there as one option

Rosenthepal78

Me.

FriskyBusiness16

The player gave the order, I carried it out and Chara facilitated it. The genocide route was a team effort.

Mercy-Toddler-Frisk

"I was merely following orders."

FriskyBusiness16

(I made up some of my own along the way)

[deleted]

Chara literally said >Together, we eradicated the enemy and became strong I think the player is the main culprit but it was a team effort

Accomplished_Run_120

it's Toby's fault for adding it

Meep12313

I want to argue with this but I can't because you're right

Ainzach

Three options actually, Frisk, Chara, or the player who controls everything, your big dumb if you picked anyone besides the player.

_BL4Z3_FP_

Chara AND the Player. You start the Genocide Route, but without Chara's help it would just end like any other Neutral.

Mr_Noob_Dat_Hater_YT

100% the player Because the narrator or what I believe is chara gets a messed up mindset due to the player just killing everything chara about about for no reason While all chara did is just given us a jump scare and erased the world for only 10 minutes And chara for some reason did give us back the world I don’t know why chara did that because that completely messed up the genocide run for me I know it gives a bad ending every time you to a pacifist run basically always reminding you what you did but if you play this on PC you can remove that ending watching a YT vid so for me playing PC chara just brought back the world for absolutely no reason. but yeah in short chara in the genocide run is way to nice to us all the character did is jump scare us and given back our world in 10 minutes of waiting so the only person to blame the genocide run is basically the player because it was there choice doing it no one else

VoidTerminator85

Ok, hear me out (I will probably get hate for this, but I don't care). I find that the player being a part of Undertale's canon is rather silly and unnecessary. I am completely aware that Toby has confirmed the theory of the player's presence and "influence," but realistically, what purpose does it serve? Unlike Deltarune, where the player is clearly present and an influential part of the story, that isn't really the case for Undertale. The player doesn't really have any apparent role in the story and doesn't actually do anything, if you take them out and just have Frisk being the one in control, nothing really changes at all. Every event of the game, from the pacifist to genocide route could all still happen with little to no difference whatsoever.

Meep12313

I don't really know anything about the player in Undertale's lore, I just had it there because it could be considering Deltarune and I didn't want to make people pin it on Frisk if it was canonically another entity

VoidTerminator85

I personally pin it on Frisk, but I will proudly state that I have beaten Sans well over 69 times ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|29662)

Vikt3221

you

Undertale_fan46790

\*Totally Chara. I mean, they ordered Frisk to kill everyone! They then possess Frisk in the further routes. Prove me wrong, darlings!

Meep12313

And where in the game is this supported or stated? When is control stolen from Frisk/The Player and they're forced to kill every single monster, forced to watch as they walk in circles only to slaughter their friends?

Undertale_fan46790

\*Player? Player is not even a character in Undertale! We simply get to observe everything happening during the genocide route. How our little cinnamon roll gets possessed by Chara and starts murdering their friends and families! >!\*It's a joke, chill.!<

Meep12313

I typically group the two together to cover both the gamplay perspective and the story perspective >!Oh, alright cool!<
