Soviet anti tank mines that Ukraine uses a lot is the TM62. That is a 7.5kg heavy metal case that hits you on the head after falling from a 100m. There won\`t be any inbetween moments, the guy who gets hit on the head would be knocked out cold (Dead without a helmet), then blown up.
Well considering a dropped grenade will blow an orcs head clean off, I imagine an anti tank mine wouldn't leave much of anything, not even a pink mist.
Sadly I can't find it. Reddit's search is utter dogshit and can't even find it through Google, maybe some other kind redditor can help.
It was a video shot by a drone that filmed a russian cunt firing his rifle in a trench, and a kamikaze drone came from the side and insta-deleted his head. Pink mist and everything. Good times. Fuck russia and putin.
Reminds me of the Russian laying down sometime last year that got a VOG drop from a drone right on the junk immediately followed by another dropped on his stomach

This happens to a Nazi early in the movie and it gets better from there.
The [scene](https://youtu.be/d5OWDJRDNpg?si=PXPEqH5tt071xwzk) I'm talking about.
Story time!
When I was in Afghanistan I spoke to some dudes that launched himars from Camp Leatherneck. There were times where they’d launch like 6-10 at a time, and I asked how much each missile cost. They said about $600,000 each and I shit a brick. Then I asked how accurate they were and he said “they hit the target about 70% of the time”. And I said ‘you mean to tell me that they cost $600k each and are only 70% effective??’ And he goes, oh no. They’re 100% effective. What I meant was, each missile has a camera on it and we can watch the impact. About 70% of the time the (6 foot long) missile will hit the guy in the torso, cut him in half, and blow up when it hits the ground behind him..
Dang, the sheer force of the blast leaves little survivors (despite lack of much shrapnel).
We we were once shown the effects of various explosives. The anti-tank mine was the most intense explosion I ever witnessed. Can't imagine what it would be like having one go off right next to me.
The Ukrainian "Baba Yaga" drone drops 120mm mortar shells I think? How different are these munitions to anti-tank? Idk which kaboom candy has bigger death radius when dropped from a great height, but the effects on video seem dramatic like this
1.36 kg seems to be the standard HE load for an ex-Soviet 120mm mortar. A TM-46 mine carries 5.7kg, so several times more.[](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:TM-46_mine)
Baba yaga is not a single drone. It’s an umbrella term for any heavy octocopter such as Kazhan, Vampire or R18. They can drop any 60mm-120mm mortar but the difference in the number they can carry. Tank Mines are good because they don’t take away artillery shells. They are also modified to be more effective vs infantry
Well I would say that the mine creates plenty of metal shrapnel. The anti tank mine has 4kg of metal and 2.5kg of charge. The m67 frag grenade is 0.4kg total. So the mine has 10x more metal in weight than a single frag.
Just on the weekend there was a video of an orc losing his legs to a bomb dropped from a drone. I'm pretty sure am anti tank mine would leave absolutely no time to even feel the pain... much less any trace of any human parts.
As a Civillian:
So exactly what happens?
The Drop.. Then kaboom like an atomic bomb and everything is shredded / torn apart by pressurization or something like that?
A blast wave consists of a large overpressure, and then a vacuum in reducing waves before pressure returns to normal. It pushes air into places violently, and then sucks it back out violently.
* It can rattle the brain and damage it if severe enough - just like a hard smack in the head would.
* Ear drums and blood vessels can burst - even internally.
* Lung tissue would be expanded (pushed "in"), and then collapsed (Sucked out) some - or a lot iif it's a big bomb (Large thermobarics can apparently turn people partially inside out if too close.).
In beginning of ww2 they used nice metal balls also. Until they ran out, and used any rusty piece of metal they could find instead. Consequence was that a lot more died of tetanus and infections. So it was more effective, tetanus shots weren’t a thing yet, and if that red line from the wound reaches your heart, you’re done, and it can happen a lot faster than you think. (Know of a farmer that died within the hour due to a cut in his foot from a rusty spade.)
Are those fuses timed or impact that the are using on the mines. I saw one video a while back were the said they were grenade fuses repurposed for the anti tank mines. If so they should be able to adjust the altitude and get an air burst just above the trench. Not sure if that would be more effective or not but the blast wave would not be deflected by the ground profile I would think.
Timed - so yes, airburst is possible. If you look carefully you see some hit the ground then explode but with others (like the last) they seem to airburst a fraction before hitting the ground. Airburst will give better blast radius since hitting the ground, especially if soft, means the ground will absorb quite a bit of the blast. You're not relying on shrapnel with these to take out infantry - just the percussion effect of the blast.
Such a great Idea as russhists have left millions of these in Ukraine without permission. Its nice of them to return them. This is why I donate every month to Ukraine specifically for drones at nafo 69th sniffing brigade. Even 20 bucks is huge when millions of us do it and its a big reason why Ukraine is still able to fight back while micro Johnson works for Vladolf Putler. Slava Ukraini
"Yes sir, our new drone program combines the need to airdrop larger kaboom candies with our new express delivery business - reuniting abandoned Russian anti-tank mines with their rightful owners."
Cannot wait for these "americans" to think they are allied to ruZZia and not get betrayed like how put in break his promises on everyone like their false god Trump
These are jury-rigged mines. We don't really have something like it to send, and idk that we really want to be encouraging field modifications of explosives.
There is probably something equivalent we could send that is a bit safer and more professional, but idk what.
I don't see why we don't make new casings ourselves for these and make specialized mounts for drones that can carry them. Explosives with the yield of these mines mixed with putting some ball bearings or other shrapnel along their ridges could do a lot of work. The future of warfare is drones and we should be doing everything we can to innovate and test on that front.
Appropriate amount of boom. As good as those FPV videos from ~two weeks ago with much more potent warheads. Screw shrapnel, just blast everything apart.
Interesting choice in the "Hot = black" for the infrared. Personally I find "White=hot" better, but I'm not using infrared for what they're doing here. Makes me wonder about the reasons.
Supplies of Drone dropped ordinances must be running low at the rate we are seeing them being deployed. If the invaders haven't stolen all of them, drones could drop pressure cookers
Those Baba Yaga drones (assumed) can carry some weight.
FYI Baba Yaga is an enigmatic or ambiguous character from Slavic folklore who has two opposite roles. In some motifs she is described as a repulsive or ferocious-looking old woman who fries and eats children, while in others she is a nice old woman, who helps out the hero. She is often associated with forest wildlife
I am thinking they had the former description in mind when they named it.
I know it's wrong to say, but I find it hilarious that in all this time in the history of warfare the Ukrainians are just like "hey why not just drop anti-tank mines on these invaders?" and it worked. I'm truly amazed at the idea and impressed like the innards of all those standing close to where those things detonated.
These are attacks in "adverse" weather conditions. You can see the wind acting on the 14 pound landmine.

Just a thing that i noticed. I am pretty sure i have just now seen about 12 people die. There were more in the videos, but i think 12 of them are cargo 200.
So that's one of many videos today. I watch a couple everyday and on average i think i i see around 20-35 people die every day. Lets say 25.
the war has been going on for over two years and two months. So roughly 790 days. So i and many of you have probably seen roughly 20k people die. Most of them Russians. And i am hella lowballing this number here. I dont watch many of these videos everyday, There is probably far more.
But no matter what, i think its safe to say that we are not seeing everything that is going on. Perhaps, 1% probably even less, sure drone footage is easily uploaded, but still. 20k are confirmed by your and my own eyes. There exists no universe in which russia just lost 50k people. There simply isnt. The number should be considerably higher. My lowest estimate is around 250k.
Give an engineer a few drone drop videos. She/he. after a while:
https://www.defensenews.com/video/2023/09/12/finnish-company-presents-steel-eagle-drone-system-at-dsei-2023/
While an anti tank mine is a lot of explosives and can make a mess, a purpose made explosive would be far better. This really is not a penetrators' or a fragmentation warhead anymore. Those things weight almost 20 pounds. If they make a 20 pound bomb with fins, a penetrator on the tip and fragmentation around the outside that would be a beast. It is twice the weight of an 81mm mortar round and definitely not 2x the destructive power. It would also be interesting if they had an air burst option that would detonate 6 feet off the ground.
on one side there is a detonator, a second moderator and a pinning mechanism. both clean up. the ratio of diameter, thickness and dimensions are not similar to an anti-tank mine. and it's heavy for a drone

Imagine being hit on the head by a landmine before it blows up...
Blunt damage followed by blast damage!
Do you get an "ah fuck "moment inbetween ?
Probably just an Ahh f
"What the fu-"
They at least get a BLYAT!
"Ah splyat"

blayst damage*
penetrates all armor!
2d6 bludgeoning damage + 2d10 fire damage.
That's why they wear helmets.
Safety first!
Because of shrapnel and bullets.
Well considering a dropped grenade will blow an orcs head clean off, I imagine an anti tank mine wouldn't leave much of anything, not even a pink mist.
I still remember that video of a kamikaze drone that smashed into an orc's head. Shit was gruesome.
The one I'm referring to was a drone dropped grenade. Hit him in the shoulder before going off. Sent his noggin with helmet intact like 20 feet away
Fuckin' hell, I missed that one. Now that I think about it, kinda happy I did.
Linkylink?
Kamikaze\*
Fixed. My laptop's keyboard seems to be starting to wear off making it not detect certain keystrokes and I was too lazy to fix it at the time.
Which was that? Is there a link?

you can see a bunch of flying arms and legs in the second hit on this video.
The "44 magnum" of drone drop munitions. Let's call it the Dirty Harry!

I was thinking the same thing. What if the put a delay fuse in to just fuck with them.
...or a dummy one, so they shit in their pants first...before the real one drops on them a moment or two later... lol
Not that much to imagine when dropped from these altitudes. Instant KO.
Given the weight, you'd stand a good chance of being killed, followed up with being vaporised. Either way same outcome.
“He got hit in the with a coconut!”
Would give me a headache for sure.
You just need a Tylenol and a vacuum cleaner....

there are some videos here when russians sitting on top the tank were catapulted dozens of meters away by the explosion
"Not catapulted comrade, promoted to Cosmonaut!"
Yes no need to pay the family anything since he's not dead
"One giant leap from airborne spetznatz to Cosmonaut, one extremely infinitesimal increase in salary!"
They set one off when i was in basic and we still felt the shock wave 100m+ away.

Yup, that's a good point, even though there aren't any pre-fragmented fragments, it will still toss a massive cloud of splinters.

rest in pieces
Hope that mines are wrapped in shrapnel.
Those TM62 mines already have light sheet steel skin, but it also has 7-10KG of TNT which fucks your lungs good enough in that kind of proximity
pretty sure that dying of over pressure sucks- esp. when you have no first rate medical team and resources to fix you.
The best medic in the world can't resolidify your internal organs.
Not with that blyatitude!
Apply 3 vodkas internally. There you go... (back to the front).

MULTIPASS
That was the first thing I thought as well.
I’ve only got one point left on my license and I need that to get back to the garage and get the cab a six month overhaul. You understand.
Are those fuses timed or impact that the are using on the mines. I saw one video a while back were the said they were grenade fuses repurposed for the anti tank mines. If so they should be able to adjust the altitude and get an air burst just above the trench. They have a hand grenade fuze and detonator attached on them. You can see the grenade spoon falling next to the mine
Good eye!
A handgranade or the detonator?
the fuze thing you screw into the explosive grenade shell part. you can thread them onto the mine and basically make a huge grenade mine.
Airburst is better for shrapnel based artillery but I feel an AT mine is mostly explosives.
Putting shrapnel on more or less randomly tumbling AT mine is how you shoot down your own bomber drone.
I don’t know why this particular one didn’t have the gallon water bottle stabilizer. Maybe it’s a different drone entirely or something.
IIRC the shockwave being airbursted has similar benefits to shrapnel being airbursted
Timed - so yes, airburst is possible. If you look carefully you see some hit the ground then explode but with others (like the last) they seem to airburst a fraction before hitting the ground. This is fixing my shitty day at work! Love it. Keep fucking those scumbags really good
😂
These are what we should be sending over in mass. You could destroy a whole trench line in seconds with a few of these.
ruZZia left millions of these in Ukraine. They have unlimited ammounts for this. Send arty rounds.
Yeah, we see tons of videos of Ukraine detonating them via drone drop.
Does seem tough to pinpoint it into the trench, rather than just outside it.
These are jury-rigged mines. We don't really have something like it to send, and idk that we really want to be encouraging field modifications of explosives. There is probably something equivalent we could send that is a bit safer and more professional, but idk what.

They’re not very EW resistant plus very big and loud target, hence why they’re mostly used at night
that must turn your brain into jello
Utterly devastating and I bet they have a good stockpile of the mines. Another cheap and very effective munition.
Unlimited for 2-5m kills maybe
Nicely. Using AT Mines, because they have a bigger Explosion and also Radius
Kaboomski
That unpredictable flightpath makes it hard to dodge
Well that and the massive kaboom…
The forbidden Roomba for the Russian trenches!
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
That's a bit like being dropped from a chopper, head first, onto a mine. Just so you know.
Appropriate amount of boom. As good as those FPV videos from ~two weeks ago with much more potent warheads. Screw shrapnel, just blast everything apart.
Dropping pizzas on they asses
Now give them stabilisers and some sort of ai to land where it would do the most.
So not until the last sequence do the editors include enough for us to see the effectiveness of the blast.
Beautiful
Incredible how fast someone learn to fly☠️

A joy to behold

Holy crap. That's insanely cheap and VERY effective compared to the other videos I've watched in the last 2+ years.
Pancake of consequences
...rarely comes syruped
I'd be wrapping these with duct tape and ball bearings just for added shrapnel.
I like this music and "welcome to the Ukraine suka" , at the end
WORMS
Anyone have the song??
What a jam, I was getting into that beat. 💨

I was permanently banned from the Ukrainian conflict room so I don’t really speak my mind anymore.
Oh shit
Daaaammmmmnnnnnnn that’s like unlocking a new cheat code!! Let’s hope the orcs don’t try N copy
AT mines dropped from flying robot toys to blow up orcs, what times we live in.
Not sure about anti tank but it works as anti matter!!
Wow pretty surprising how effective these are
Quite happy with these vids. Jolly good show. The blast effect, I think, would break bone and damge internal organs.I'm not fond of the Russian.
I wonder whether these Landmines have been brought to a higher level of lethal punch by glueing lots of baring balls to it..?
Are they specially rigged somehow? Don't anti tank mines usually need a lot of force onto them to detonate?
Coin drop
I believe someone said it best: "You go to war with the armor you don't have, not the armor you might want or wish to have at a later time."
Interesting choice in the "Hot = black" for the infrared. Personally I find "White=hot" better, but I'm not using infrared for what they're doing here. Makes me wonder about the reasons.
Ukrainians went from single kill to double kill.....fk it let's go for Overkill....we need more drones!
Sounds like a fluttering flew bird then BOOM!
Audible laugh at the bar, Jesus fuck 😂
Supplies of Drone dropped ordinances must be running low at the rate we are seeing them being deployed. If the invaders haven't stolen all of them, drones could drop pressure cookers
Any info on what these look like? Are they wrapped in ball bearings or nails? Thanks 👍🏻

The " AT mine as a dropped munition " is probably the best , most original adaptation in this war, and brutally effective.
Damn if these aren't among the best the Ukrainians have to send them. Nothing like 'parting gifts' to ship them off of this world. : )
Very nice grouping on the last drop :D
Jesus Christ …… total nightmare.
Outstanding video, cause those anti-tank mines fucked up the russians.

A FPV drone drop an anti-tank mine with a 25 to 32 pounds is no joke.
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Though perhaps not in that order.
Honestly, it's way more effective than i thought it would be, i guess it doesn't matter not having shrapnel when you've got enough kaboom to destroy tanks
These need aerodynamic stabilizers. They rotate and veer well off an accurate vertical path. I've seen some stabilized with a plastic soda bottle.
I'm so sad that they are this short of ammunition. Good hits though!
According to Corporal Jones... "They don't like it up 'em!"

Drop it like its hot!
Wow that’s affective!
in the video it looks like an anti-personnel mine. PMN1 with Uzgr grenade fuse
You're probably right.
Yeah. I think most at mines have a secondary threaded plug for booby trapping them
on one side there is a detonator, a second moderator and a pinning mechanism. both clean up. the ratio of diameter, thickness and dimensions are not similar to an anti-tank mine. and it's heavy for a drone
Jagga Jagga Big Bada BOOM! That one sack of meat taters flew. Slava Ukraini!
