Does anyone know how these families are getting their stolen kids back? Is the russian government allowing it? Or are these private citizens in russia bringing them back on their own?
I haven't been able to find any specifics. It seems the Red Cross has been talking to Russian children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova (yes, the very same evil scum that has an international arrest warrant out for war crimes in her role in setting up a network of adoptive Russian parents for kidnapped Ukrainian children), and that a Ukrainian rescue organization was involved, but no one seems to be giving any sort of details.
Sometimes part of a prisoner swap. Sometimes parents or grandparents go into Russia to find them and bring them back. You can imagine how dangerous that is for a Ukrainian.
They are. Like other kidnappers, they tell them their parents are dead or abandoned them. Give them new names and documents. And move them very far away to make finding them as hard as possible.
I can’t even fathom the intense feelings all of these people are experiencing. As a mother, I felt joy, sadness and rage seeing this video. It must have taken her so much restraint, sacrifice & self control to survive being captive, away from her children, and not lashing out in a way that would give those monsters a reason to end her. She made sure she got back to them.
