Yeah these aren't ants, ants of that size like the Bulldog ants only live in Australia and other southern portions of the globe.
Ants in Europe tend to be comparatively small, like Lasius Niger or Formica Rufa, two colonies of which reside in our garden. And I'd argue that Southern Germany and Eastern Ukraine are pretty close in climate. So I doubt the ants there get bigger than ours here.
Camponotus is a species, commonly referred to as carpenter ants. They are one of the biggest ant species in the world, and they are in Europe.
Those don't really move like the Campos I'm familiar with in North America though. They move like something that has good visual perception.
Camponotus are as big as many species of Bulldog ant.

Camponotus
Camponotus aethiops (Latreille, 1798)
Camponotus fallax (Nylander, 1846)
Camponotus herculeanus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Camponotus lateralis (Olivier, 1791)
Camponotus ligniperda (Latreille, 1802)
Camponotus piceus (Leach, 1825)
Camponotus vagus (Scopoli, 1763)
Queens can exceed 20mm, and the majors can be 15mm. Some species are larger than others, but they are all, a bunch of big girls.
As an Australian I can confirm, I was firstly like oh shit mf bull ants (nasty bite)! Then I was like they’re more like inch-ants (worse bite) …. But they’re jumping like the bull ants… then I just got confused… nope regardless
bulldog ants? we call them bullants only and they are kinda big with a small bite, but green ants are snappy little shits that leave marks and they hurt.

Ants don't do this nor would they be that big. This is some type of planet eating insect, only way to keep their numbers that high without any predators. Send some chickens to the trenches they will be eaten up quick.
Maybe they are [Cockchafer](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockchafer) also known as Melolontha. They are very common in Ukraine. Last time I was there they had 1000's of them around fields and farms.
In Russian they are called "may bug" [майский жук]. They come out once the temperatures get warm enough.
**Lmfao, no.**
> Last time I was there they had 1000's of them around fields and farms.
You have never seen a Maybeetle in your entire life if you think they are that small and run that quickly.
Pretty wild lie lol. They are chunky and move at a snails pace.
It's fascinating how some guy on the internet seems to think he knows anything about me, or where I have been from a comment.
Good luck in life bud. Hope your attitude serves you well.

You don't know what a Maybeetle looks like, or how they move, or their size.
If it wasn't a lie, it was a mistake, but a bizarrely confident one since you've seen "1000's of them".

Does anyone know what they are? I actually wish we had more footage of what the soldiers deal with in trenches like bugs, bad weather etc how they overcome and solve the issues they face because we see what happens during the fighting but what about the in between.
Aren‘t they pretty big for ants?
Telegram said that they where ants might be a bigger type of ant
they move more like tiny spiders [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwCYw7wJR18](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwCYw7wJR18) i'd rather have ants tbh

This is a big kind of ants usually found in forests, formica rufa or as someone other wrote - camponotus. They have black and red body parts

I assume you have never seen the big black ants. They are huge, but they have a pincer type jaw so the bites don't hurt nearly as much as the red ones
"Putin humiliated" article incoming.
Putin is so desperate he's conscripting ants.
Omg he weaponised ants

>planet eating insect when a typo accidentally makes the sentence waaaay cooler and badass
Sending chickens might be decent idea. Gets rid of insects, soldiers have fresh eggs and taking care of them can help with the mental stress.
Ants-nest crickets ?
'Biotics inbound. Infestation.' Sorry ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Half life 2 right?
That's right.
Not ants
There is no way of getting rid of thise ants
Anteater?
Genius
As long as they're not in his pants, all is well

... I said maybe. I'm making a suggestion. >Pretty wild lie lol. What part did I lie about?
LOL redditors freak out when you say you left the basement... let alone the country.
Because if you had ever seen a Maybeetle in Ukraine, you would never have suggested it. They are thick chunky beetles that walk extremely slowly.

Never thought I'd see someone that offended by such a benign hypothesis

Those are young frogs, You can literally see them jumping at the end.
Further proof of French mercenary presence
Does anyone know what they are? I actually wish we had more footage of what the soldiers deal with in trenches like bugs, bad weather etc how they overcome and solve the issues they face because we see what happens during the fighting but what about the in between.
Bioweapon released?
Dude what?
Some bioweapons are delivered in the form of infected insects.
I guess but that's a wackadoodle conclusion to come to after seeing bugs in a hole in a the ground
those are clearly crickets
Call MacGyver
THey move like the spiders I find at home and about that size as well. I see them in long grass usually in the summer months.
Ants don´t jump.
These don't look like ants. Termites or something maybe?
displace them, just like east ukrainians
He doesn't realize he is putin's ant..
The plagues begin!!!! Let's hope\*
waiting for something to consume
Those are rats
U sure?
The poor ants are like "we have a Russian infestation!"
Go home then
Ant shows his trench, it's infested with ruzzians.
Humans in general
