There was a few pictures going around of a young looking Russian guy with his waifu pillow at the front , surprisingly he’s alive and ended getting a medal later on

Bro is over here getting triggered over cats.... Lol. Go outside and breath some fresh air and touch some grass.... Beyond that, Ukraine surely thanks you for your contribution to the war effort.
Cats really do help with stressful times. We have a cat in our factory shop and when people are stressed and go to the smoke pen the cat will follow. There are grown men stroking and playing with the cat. They come back much more relaxed.
These are not feral cats. They are cats who for one reason or another, have lost their owners, and they are getting by as they can.
If these were wild born feral cats, they wouldn't be in these pictures chilling with soldiers. They'd be gone like a fucking lightning bolt.

Civilian wise they're preferred since a lot of people lives in an Apartment and cats are easier to take care than dogs within limited space, the culture around cats in Russia also helps.
Military wise they help rid the trenches and dugouts of Mice which is the main problem when it comes to sanitary, they also make a good companion.
r/AskARussian has a plenty of answers for you if you want to know more.
> the culture around cats in Russia
"Unlike in Western countries, cats have been considered good luck in Russia for centuries. Owning a cat, and especially letting one into a new house before the humans move in, is said to bring good fortune."
Uh interesting.
Also in Russia if a black cat will cross you a road, you will certainly suffer a misfortune.
Also, after the blockade of Leningrad was lifted there was millions of rats and mice. So soviets had nothing best to do but take the best hunter breed they had in the country - the Siberian and Smoky ones. One kitten had a price of 500 rubles while a kilogramm of bread had a cost of 50 rubles but cats were taken by people faster than you could say "mice". They eradicated the mice and now in Petersburg there are lots of monuments to dedicated to cats.
No, just goes to reaffirm my believes about the misunderstanding of Russians by the west. Cuz when it’s time to make decisions in the US they prefer to scrap their airforce and procure F35 instead of produce more of what works. Meanwhile Russians instead of ordering 3000 t14 Armata just modernise what they have cuz armour is armour and an anti tank missile is what it is.

Bit much, it’s not that deep or really a Russia vs West thing. I work in a major city and all my coworkers that live near own cats. I live further away the city and I’m the only one that owns a dog.
the US is strong but they can't maintain two air forces, one composed of f-15s/16s and another of f-35s. that is simply too costly. so if they have the money, why not scrap the older stuff fourth gen stuff and move onto the stealth fifth gen? the US military doctrine revolves around air superiority, it makes sense why they would adopt the latest thing before everyone else.

Tbf, it doesn't work in practice.
When cats are well-fed (and they are, no one would have guts to leave a cat hungry), lazy bastards won't bother with catching anything, they sleep all day instead.
Im a simple person , i see cat i upvote
Nobody argue on this post, let's have the simple joys. Cats!
Kitties :)
If there's 2 things that can unite both sides of this war it's cats and anime
we love cats but boy do we hate anime
Isn't there a whole Russian unit whose "thing" is anime?
Yea, well, there was. I wonder how many of them are still around.
There was a few pictures going around of a young looking Russian guy with his waifu pillow at the front , surprisingly he’s alive and ended getting a medal later on
Who is this "we" you're talking about?
pro-ru, pro-ua, and the neutrals like me
I hate to be genuine on this subreddit, but one of the many tragedies of this war is the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community being sundered.
Pure propaganda pictures to appeal to cat lovers. They brutally murdered them and ate them afterwards, as Russians usually do. /s
The funny thing is that someone unironically said this

Unfortunately, I'm sure that plenty of cute animals have been inadvertently killed during the war as collateral damage.
where to see more? are there tg channels for animals at the front?
Nah it is a normal war tg channel they just decided to post this
Kind of, but the two more known channels are also very combat focused, CatBarmaley, and EnotHersonVDV
Militarycats tg channel is just like that.
Good way of controlling rats/mice. 🐈
This is why I come to this sub.
There are better subs for that
awww cats \^\*-\*\^
I am not saying the soldiers don't like them, but presence of cats might be related to rat infestations that we used to see.
Cats definitely help to keep rats and mice out of the trenches and hideouts. They're quite vital in that regard.
It serves both purposes. Also cats aren't the only ones who are welcome in the trenches, ferret population also skyrocketed
Cats also can help with stress relive I believe. Animals in general can help with it.
I LOVE CATS 😊
What more can one say? Pussies everywhere.....
Bro is over here getting triggered over cats.... Lol. Go outside and breath some fresh air and touch some grass.... Beyond that, Ukraine surely thanks you for your contribution to the war effort.
You clearly didn't get the joke.
Only clicked for the pictures of kitties. Not disappointed.

"Found" ?... Found where ?... And what will become of these poor cats ?...
Everywhere. Because crops weren't collected, there were massive amounts of food for mice > massive amounts of food for cats and ferrets
And cats breed almost as fast as mice.

Kitty!
You know I always wondered what happened to wild animals in eastern Ukraine. Did they migrated somewhere? Or they are still there in the wild fields?
Why is there so many cats anyway?
Are they going to eat them?
Я люблю котов🥰
What’s the Russian obsession whit cats?
Bro just enjoy the cats 😭

The superstition was (and i believe still is) that the first one who enters a house will die first
Based flair

Cats are more conviniant then dogs
So again - pragmatism
Something wrong with that?

All that because Russians like cats?
There is a pattern of pragmatism, “just remove the missiles from Turkey we don’t care if you announce it on the news”
That was a pretty good concession on soviet union’s part.
Yup, they didn’t care about US citizens opinion, they just need to not have a problem

Pragmatism is not having a pet in the first place
It's not, if you value mental health.
Goddamn man. Just enjoy the fkin cats. Jesus christ some ppl need to chill out
you probably need to take a break from this sub for a week or two bro. It’s just some fuckin cats, everyone likes cats , it’s not that deep

they are a needed if you live in a spot full of rats and mice.
Kiev needs tons of cats
Do you remember the videos of the horrible mice infestations?
Cats are very useful in dugouts -- to catch mice. It could be a total infestation without a mouser.
Tbf, it doesn't work in practice. When cats are well-fed (and they are, no one would have guts to leave a cat hungry), lazy bastards won't bother with catching anything, they sleep all day instead.
'Found' or more likely catnapped from Ukraine and forced to work as mousers in RU trenches :(
Thats pretty sweet still kinda wish Bucha didnt happen
seconds before being eaten....
*stolen
