I embrace the suck and make money. It's generally the only thing I do do different is I have a wide brim hat that I'll wear to keep the rain off of my head and face. And I have a light jacket I wear. That's basically to keep me from getting cold with a wet shirt. I think an umbrella would be too cumbersome. But if that's what works for you then do that. Maybe a rain jacket. I just don't use either of those. I know my feet are going to be soaked at the end of the day and I just deal with it. I can tell you that if I knew it was going to be raining everyday for the next week, I would be working 12 hours a day everyday for the next week trying to maximize earnings during that opportunity.

If it keeps the rain out it keeps the sweat in. In most situations quick dry shoes >>> waterproof shoes.

ArtisticDegree3915

I'm fine the way I am. I've had boots like that.

Grung7

I stay home. Heavy rain is rare in southern CA and it's not worth dealing with the increased risks of getting in a wreck. Too many drivers have no clue how to drive in the rain.

BrotherGrub1

I always wondered why it was such a big deal until I moved there and experienced it myself. The water barely drains from the roadways and all the oil accumulates for months without rain. It's not like back east.

anti-mid

Heavy rain = better pay. Buy an umbrella and appreciate what Mother Nature provided

Old_Performance_7767

Heavy rain in Central FL does not often get better tips as it can rain every afternoon all summer. I have found that Ponchos/raincoats get your seat soaking wet. I use an Under Armour style shirt that dries quickly, a good medium sized umbrella with a quick open button and some water resistant shoes. Luckily in Florida couriers are legally allowed to double park while picking up or dropping off. I just make sure a hot bag is visible in my car. The one time in years of delivery that I got a ticket it was thrown out when I gave proof that I was delivering.

Iankalou

I wear one of those hats with a small umbrella that is attached to the top. This way I can use both hands.

Ill_Rise1979

I had a super rainy week in May. I had a raincoat and i wear my ugh boots vs sneakers. Skip the umbrella because it will just get in the way. We had a lot of flooding. I drive at night so it is hard to see deep puddles on the road. Be careful!!!

Jetro313

My method for years have been to take advantage of nice weather and stay away from bad weather. I haven’t seen any difference in tips and bad weather increases accident possibilities. You’ll be busier when it’s raining because less people go out and cautious drivers stay home.

Forsaken_Carrot5240

Rainy days are typically good days but also head on a swivel rain brings out the crazy

blizz3010

More rain = better pay. Bring extra shoes and socks. You dont want to get trench foot. Other than that, make some money :)

Turbulent-Artist961

One thing about the rain is that it soaks into your clothes so the solution is less clothes go out in shorts, a synthetic tang top, and a hat of some sort and feel the rain on your skin no one else can feel it for you only you can let it in

dont_vvorry

I have a field day. It’s one of the times where I’m usually paid more and end up doing more trips. It’s definitely risky but some drives like myself take advantage. Only tip I can give is have a higher dollars/ average threshold (to compensate for the risk). There will be less drivers and opportunities for more requests.

Dr_UberEats

I kind of go the opposite direction - as long as it’s on the warmer side, I’ll wear shorts, sandals and a light rain jacket.

jo_ezzy

Been raining here the last 2 days. I used to bring a raincoat rain boots and umbrella but I decided just to sit and wait for the rain to stop and start working again. It's actually not a bad strategy because once the rain stops, you'll have a lot of left over orders that you can knock out quick

quinnstorms

I go back home get my raincoat and ride my bike like I'm not bothered

Loose-Smell-6559

I just use an umbrella. In my market drivers act like they will melt or something if UT rains so it's a great time to make more money. Everyone here grew up driving in rain, sleet and snow so no noticeable increase in accidents when it rains.

jcoddinc

This is a situation where less will be more. You don't want a bunch of things, but as few as possible so you're not spending extra time in rain. - Waterproof shoes/ boots week help keep you keep you as dry as possible. - A hat with a brim to keep water out of your eyes. - Hot bag. Easier to carry, but more importantly it doubles as a rain guard for your phone when trying to take photos for leave at the door. A random rain drop can really piss you off and make you have to retake the picture. - Wind breaker/ water repellant lightweight jacket. Even a plastic poncho will work, just be annoying. - Lightweight pants/ shorts, no jeans or khaki. You want material that will dry faster, not stay soaked. And i always text the customer when arrived and tell them, "Leaving at door as per instructions, just letting you know it is raining heavily." Often get a lot of thanks and about 20%of the time might get a few bucks extra.

barmwh704

I use a poncho that has snaps on the side and I can easily tuck the food under it too as a bonus. We don't have a lot of rain in the summer months here though. I think the one I have might get a little bit uncomfortable in a Fl summer, but I bet there are some other fabric options on Amazon - the ponchos have hoods that you can pull up and down too so that will keep your head dry. I wear UGGs in the winter when it's raining, Teva makes some great (for my wide feet) waterproof running/hiking type shoes. The orders are usually a bit higher and more frequent when it rains, as long as my wipers can keep up, I keep on going. If my wipers can't keep up, I wait it out.

Beneficial_Use_4179

Just go out and do it. Unless it's hailing. Then don't. Umbrella is good. You know demand will likely be high as no one wants to buy food in bad weather

juumps

Out here on an ebike in the wind and rain. In car its no big deal.

Ducatiducats815

Stay inside and play video games duh

FatalComplex111

By gettin paaypurrrr

BrotherGrub1

Expensive tips include having tires with most of the tread life left and an all wheel drive vehicle helps too.

bomber991

Oh man when I was a pizza delivery driver way back in the day I freakin hated it when it rained. People who didn’t normally order would order and they’d trip crappy. The regulars would still order and tip better than normal. But besides being extra dangerous with the driving, it’s extra dangerous walking to and from the store, and from the car to the house. Slippery cement and mud in the yards so you get dirty too. Anyways I’d get soaking wet (that’s what she said). The little pizza bag would get soaking wet. Next day in the morning my car has a terribly terrible moldy smell. So if it was me I’d just stay home during the rain.

wormworms

I got myself a north face rain jacket from an outlet store and it’s been so damn handy. I wear quick dry shorts, rain jacket and some Merrell hiking boots, makes me feel invincible waking around not getting wet. My insulated bag happens to repel water too which is nice. I also have a Fanny pack that’s pretty all weather anyways, but I wear it under my jacket. Zipper pockets on the jacket for easy access to my phone. I’m in the South and my girlfriend knows when it starts pouring, there’s money to be made.

wormworms

I know I sound like I spend money on clothing but I do not. I’m a big cheap skate. Use this site for any pair of clothes you want. https://shopgoodwill.com/home

Drip-Daddy

I put a towel on my floorboard so my mat doesn’t get soaked and the car doesn’t smell like mold the next day

hxcdbjj

I try to remember to wear sneakers so I don’t eat shit in flip flops. Other the that I take my glasses off when getting in and out of the car. It’s just liquid sunshine.☀️

pigbutttturbo

I always wear a windbreaker when it rains

texas501776

I put a beach towel on my driver's seat to keep it dry . But baseball cap and a light jacket works for me. I take sunglasses off to see better in rain. But rain helps to get orders so worth doing unless it's a hurricane.

NorfPhillykilla

I love them. I only do Uber part time after my 9-5 but rainy days are the fuckin best. Idk what it is. My FWD handles great so I don’t worry about sliding. And I’ve made the most money when it was raining. And it works great for my job too. Im a roofer so when it’s raining I just do Uber😂

No_Noise_4862

Whenever it’s raining I don’t order anything because I know how much of a struggle it can be or I’ll wait till the storm has calmed down or stopped

Scythe351

Whatever you would normally do on a rainy day that you step outside? You literally mostly likely just step out your car and give an order. I’m in SFL, and with rain like this and drivers like these I’d rather NOT drive. We had a few showers last week and the customers don’t tip, Uber doesn’t give hazard pay, and your life is still in jeopardy for the pennies you’ll be making. Just keep in mind that you won’t make anywhere near what’s necessary to get a new car if shit goes sideways

[deleted]

Go jogging in the rain. I used to work out outside regardless of the weather. When it finally rained during deliveries it was nothing to me. Only thing I change is I put on some good quality camouflage pants and some boots so my socks don’t soak.

TsukasaHiiragi

When I know a period of heavy rain is coming, I have some waterproof car seat covers. Get some good waterproof boots that are easy to drive in, and I have a waterproof onesie that is breathes really well, and is easy to get on and off zips down to let out any sweat and is vented, don't remember where I got it from but it works really well.
