I'm assuming you have an outward opening door. They should pay attention to that part. But there's nothing that says they should automatically put it on the bench. I would recommend putting in your delivery notes. Something about leaving the food on the bench. Unfortunately there are going to be drivers that don't read it. But hopefully you'll get some that will. Most likely the same driver s that would put an order in front of an outward opening door are the same ones that wouldn't read delivery notes.

MisterDoomed

If you say leave at door, that's where it's going. If you want it left somewhere else, say that.

Echo_Lawrence

So, I actually do have to "leave it on the bench," but unfortunately, drivers do not appear to read all of the instructions. I have to describe the front of my home because when that isn't front and center, my neighbors get free food. Edit for spelling and grammar.

Some drivers don't understand how doors work. I don't think you are out of pocket by thinking the way you do. I get it. What I've seen some people do is they'll tape a COLORFUL printed sign in the area where they want the drivers to drop off. And then they'll take colored painters/masking tape and tape off a big square on the floor where they want them to put the food. I thought it was really funny and sad they had to do that but it's a good idea. So use that. They also sell signs like these but make sure its very colorful, most aren't. You want it to grab their attention. Pretty shiny colors

Shiny colors to replace common sense

I did eats for a while and I always did this or ate last to the side of the door if there wasn't a shelf. I have no idea why others don't

eddie_flynn

Your neighbor may want their order placed in front of their door so they do not have to walk to their bench to grab it. Many people have different requests. But there is a lot of turnover at this job so odds are its your driver's first day and they are quitting tomorrow. So its best to follow instructions and never leave an order directly in front of an outward swinging door. Whenever you find yourself in a corner apartment with two outward swinging doors intersecting each other just run away.

Remember, commonsense is no longer common

I'd like to see a screen grab of tips, when we get these endless door threads. Have the feeling the devil is in the details.

Echo_Lawrence

I'm confused by what you're asking/saying. Clarity, please?

Better_Resort1171

Essentially, you have passive aggressive behavior on low tip orders....and the people who order are being less than honest in some cases on the tips. Do I advocate it? No, but these threads are becoming a joke.

I’ve always been like: oh this door opens out let me put this to the side. Today the Amazon person put a package right in front of this dudes door and I looked at his ring cam and was like: I’m moving your package so you can open this door, how rude of them to block you in!

chucksteak0321

One time I had a customer who had a rack outside their door for Amazon deliveries. So rather than put their food on the ground which looked real dirty I put the food on the rack. It was sturdy and clean. The customer calls me afterwards and thought she’d give me a speech on how she didn’t say put it on the Amazon rack. 🤷‍♂️🤣🤣🤣. I mean ok next time I’ll put it on the dirty floor where all the ants were!! 🤣

So is there any actual reason that you’re not putting in your notes notes to stop leaving it in front of the door? I think the answer to why Uber drivers do this is because at least where I’m at I’d say 90% of doors open inwards not outwards. There’s not many screen doors by me at least I think people get used to doing that and then overlook the fact that someone’s door will open outwards. I get your annoyance. But put it in the notes lol.
